Mar 20, 2012I just picked up a MiFi 4G device and I carry it at all times. However since it has a cap on data per month I want it to be secondary to several other unlimited WiFi networks such as my office WiFi, home WiFi, free WiFi hotspots, etc. Is there any work around to make the MiFi wireless (or any permanent wireless network) 2nd to all other recognized networks? This is the ideal set-up for my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 WiFi. I don't want to have to turn the MiFi on and off constantly, I want it on in the background as a seamless secondary option. I appreciate any insight and find it odd that you cannot prioritize networks. Meaning if I "forgot this network" and start over will the 1st joined or most recent joined become primary when there are multiple networks available?

Apr 8, 2012What I don't understand is why the wifi isn't working? I just got the iPhone 4S yesterday, I already have an iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 is consistently using my home wifi while I am at home perfectly. My iPhone 4 is updated to the latest software too iOS 5.1. My iPhone 4S will not connect to wifi. I am entering the right WPA user & pass. It is updated with iOS 5.1.
My iPad, iMac, Macbookpro, & iPod ALL have no trouble connecting to my home wifi. I do not understand how this is a wireless router issue when it works with all of my other Apple devices BUT the iPhone4S? I have tried everything under the sun, restart reboot, turn off, turn on, switch network off, switch it on, reset this, reset that?

Apr 10, 2012So, I got my iPhone 4s brand new from apple.com (UK) on christmas day, from then I had no problems at all with the iPhone although a week or so ago I lost my connection to WiFi. When you go to Settings>WiFi usually you will be given quite a few options ( your own WiFi and neighbours), this has always worked for me but now it doesnt, I get the message 'Could not scan for wireless networks'. I've looked in the forums for resolutions but nobody seems to have any although this problem is popping up for quite a few people! I dont have access to an apple store for help from an assistant which makes my situation even worse! I have never dropped my iPhone 4s and have never put it in water either, so has anybody ever had this problem and found a fix? I have also tried reseting my iPhone completely and done the same with my wireless 02 router! Turning on and off again, most things you could think of i have tried!

Apr 17, 2012I've already done a hard reset, and I've also reset my network settings, but my wifi is still having problems. Also, this is for every single wifi spot. Whenever I go to the wifi section in my settings, my iPhone 4s will continue to search for wifi, and it won't stop! If I try to connect to the wifi by using the "other" (which you have to type in the name of your wifi), a message pops up saying "could not scan for wireless networks". Another thing to add is that it's not my wifi because none of my other family members have problems connecting to the wifi on their iPhone 4s'! I am at 1.1 gb of my 2 gb monthly allowance while I still have 20 days left, and I also just noticed that since this problem started, my phones battery life is shortened 2 to 3 hours!

Jan 19, 2011Had my HTC Desire for about a week now; brilliant phone Although the battery life is not poor (lasts about a day and a half/ two days with little use), when I check to see what is draining the battery, it seems to always be maps that is the culprit, even though I am now (knowingly) using the maps application or GPS etc.
I have done a little research and it seems that is could be the 'use wireless networks' option that is causing this so I have just now disabled this and will see how it goes. Any reasons as to why maps might be showing up as using the largest (if not, second largest) chunk of battery power?

May 23, 2012I got a new iPhone 4S on May 15, 2012. It worked great at the AT&T store and connected to their secure wireless no problem. I spent 6 hours at home trying to get it to connect to my wifi network - it couldn't find mine or any of only 1 of the other 5 that my iMac can find. I have a Netgear WNDR3700 (the dual band n) router that the iMac, the Macbook, two TiVos and my old 3G phone connect with no problem - and all these devices except the iMac are downstairs in the opposite side of the house from the router. So...I reset my network settings on the phoneI turned wifi on and off again on the phoneI turned airport mode on and off again on the phoneI turned the phone off and restarted itI updated the firmware and the GUI on my routerI took off the security, walked up to the router until the phone was 3 inches away, and it found the network and connected. Safari worked fine on wifi. I walked 5 feet away and the wifi was gone. (The phone will find and connect to my neighbor's unsecured network, but drops the connection if I move more than 5 feet from where I picked it up.)I reinstated the WPA2 security, held the phone 3 inches from the router and connected via the passphrase. Signal dropped again at 5 feet away. I restarted the cable modem (just for kicks) and the router. I changed the router security keys. I added the phone's MAC address to the access list on my routerI did a factory restore on my router, changed the network names and passphrases.I took my phone to the gym, Starbucks and the Apple Store. It connected to the wifi and even made backups on iCloud. It lost the connection at the gym when I went upstairs, but it was still connected when I was outside in the parking lot, so who knows about that. At my Apple Store Genius Bar appt. - which the Apple support guy made for me after he'd been on the phone with me for an hour with no result - the guy immediately gave me A BRAND NEW PHONE. He said it must be a wifi chip problem and that they get about one of those phones a month. I thought, "Lucky me, I won the lemon phone lottery!" I switched my info to the new phone via iCloud while I was in the store and took my brand new phone home: it still sees no networks except my neighbor's and doesn't stay connected for more than 5 seconds. It makes no difference whether I remove the security or not - the phone absolutely will not find my network or any of the other 5 networks near my home.

Jun 27, 2012My iPhone 4S is unable to locate any wifi networks. It shows that it searches for a network, but it never finds one, even when I set the phone on the router. I replaced the wifi antenna with no change. I restored the phone, without backups, with no change. When I check the Bluetooth setting, it appears to be on, but it doesn't give any options, and the icon just spins like its searching. I don't think there is anything to find though.

4G is working fine, although the last couple of days my phone has been randomly forwarding some calls to my voicemail w/o ringing; but not always.

So the thing is, whenever i turn on wifi, 90% of the time, i can't find any connections. NONE! maybe after 10 minutes of leaving my phone i finally found one, and it isn't even my home connection.. I've been connected to my home wifi. And when i finally am connected the internet is so slow, i'd rather go back to my windows 98 pc and search via internet explorer, make the pc crash 5 times and still load the page faster than my cellphone.

I'm currently on a trip to Switzerland where my screen broke, and after being screwed around by the Swiss repair factory that Sony uses for three weeks, I've finally got my phone back, except now it's not connecting to the available network (Salt.). The networks show up in the list of searches, but after spinning on "registering on network" for a few minutes all I get is the usual "can't connect to network, please try again later" nonsense. The wifi works, however. I've tried repairing it with Sony Bridge for Mac, still nothing.

When I had a Z2 I had a similar issue once after sending it off for repairs for a broken screen- the repair people dinged up the internal antenna during repairs and it wouldn't connect when it got back. I sent it off again and they fixed it. Could this be the problem now, even though the wifi is working? I have a flight back to the UK in a day and I don't have time to send it off to the same company.

May 17, 2013I just got the new Xperia Z3, it has lots of software issues. One of those is the fact that it doesn't remember Wifi networks anymore. I have to re-select the network and re-enter the password every time.
I have read that removing all remembered Wifi networks works, but this solution is unacceptable to me as I travel a lot and have over a hundred networks remembered in my Google account. I'd rather stop buying Sony products than have to re-enter those networks again.

Xperia X10 :: Using Wireless N With It?
Sep 15, 2010I am using the SE Xperia X10. Obviously I wish to connect with my wireless network at home.
My home wireless network is run by an Airport Express (made by Apple) and currently runs 802.11n only (5ghz) setting, which allows for the fastest transmission of data over my network.
This setting, while ideal for my lovely family of Macs, does not allow my phone to connect.
My question is: what mods/hacks/apps/etc are there out there that would enable my phone to access an N Wireless network? Or, is this all moot as this phone is not even N capable? I have not been able to find a similar thread elsewhere discussing this issue.
Another thought, has anyone had success with an App that synchs the Xperia X10 with Mac OSX, specifically Address Book and Calendar.
