Galaxy S6 :: Can't Find All 5GHz WiFi Networks
Jan 22, 2016I can only find 1/10 of the 5GHz wifi networks.

View 4 RepliesI got a new iPhone 4S on May 15, 2012. It worked great at the AT&T store and connected to their secure wireless no problem. I spent 6 hours at home trying to get it to connect to my wifi network - it couldn't find mine or any of only 1 of the other 5 that my iMac can find. I have a Netgear WNDR3700 (the dual band n) router that the iMac, the Macbook, two TiVos and my old 3G phone connect with no problem - and all these devices except the iMac are downstairs in the opposite side of the house from the router. So...I reset my network settings on the phoneI turned wifi on and off again on the phoneI turned airport mode on and off again on the phoneI turned the phone off and restarted itI updated the firmware and the GUI on my routerI took off the security, walked up to the router until the phone was 3 inches away, and it found the network and connected. Safari worked fine on wifi. I walked 5 feet away and the wifi was gone. (The phone will find and connect to my neighbor's unsecured network, but drops the connection if I move more than 5 feet from where I picked it up.)I reinstated the WPA2 security, held the phone 3 inches from the router and connected via the passphrase. Signal dropped again at 5 feet away. I restarted the cable modem (just for kicks) and the router. I changed the router security keys. I added the phone's MAC address to the access list on my routerI did a factory restore on my router, changed the network names and passphrases.I took my phone to the gym, Starbucks and the Apple Store. It connected to the wifi and even made backups on iCloud. It lost the connection at the gym when I went upstairs, but it was still connected when I was outside in the parking lot, so who knows about that. At my Apple Store Genius Bar appt. - which the Apple support guy made for me after he'd been on the phone with me for an hour with no result - the guy immediately gave me A BRAND NEW PHONE. He said it must be a wifi chip problem and that they get about one of those phones a month. I thought, "Lucky me, I won the lemon phone lottery!" I switched my info to the new phone via iCloud while I was in the store and took my brand new phone home: it still sees no networks except my neighbor's and doesn't stay connected for more than 5 seconds. It makes no difference whether I remove the security or not - the phone absolutely will not find my network or any of the other 5 networks near my home.

My iPhone 4S is unable to locate any wifi networks. It shows that it searches for a network, but it never finds one, even when I set the phone on the router. I replaced the wifi antenna with no change. I restored the phone, without backups, with no change. When I check the Bluetooth setting, it appears to be on, but it doesn't give any options, and the icon just spins like its searching. I don't think there is anything to find though.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy iPhone5 (Jan 2013) will not find any wifi networks. It's running ios 7.1.1Â
I have reset everything, turned it off and on a zillion times turned the router off and onÂ
None of the other apple products in the house are having problems with the networks.Â
So I'm thinking its a hardware problem-But here's the odd thing: every time I turn it off and on, the call forwarding icon (phone+arrow) appears. When I go into settings/phone/call forwarding it immediately goes away.Â
4G is working fine, although the last couple of days my phone has been randomly forwarding some calls to my voicemail w/o ringing; but not always.
I have got a new S5 (coming from LG G2) and I'm experiencing a problem I've never seen before.
Earlier changes of phones has given me the opportunity to access wifi networks (SSID) I've used before. Now I have to add (connect and reenter key) all networks all over again.
Is there a fix that can bring back my "old" networks?
I can't seem to find my saved WiFi networks when I'm not around them. I believe before there was an option for that in Android. I would like to delete some of the WiFi networks I connected to before. Where can I find the list of remembered WiFi networks on S6 G920F?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with my Verizon S5. I suddenly have a problem connecting to wifi networks. When I go into the settings>wifi I can see networks no problem but when I select one to connect to there are two options, connect and cancel. For some reason the connect option is grayed out, well actually its light blue. The network I'm trying to connect to is secure and I have the password but even when I enter the password I can't select the connect option. I connected to a hotel network just last night no problem and today I have this.
View 12 Replies View Related2 weeks ago my wifi wasn't even turning on, no matter what i tried, the wifi button was always on off.
Then today it just randomly worked and I was able to turn on my wifi, it allowed me to use my wifi network for 5 min.
I decided to turn the wifi off then on again, and now it doesn't scan for networks. So even though my wifi is on, there are no list of networks I can choose to join.
edit: Smart network switch is always off, because mobile data is always disabled for me, Also i cannot find reply button.
My device is Galaxy S6 920F
WiFi networks stop showing up after a few days of Root, Rom, or Kernel. My S6 connects to the saved ones, but I have to add the new ones manually. And I experienced it with :
*Stock Rom + Adam kernel 2.3
*Stock Rom + UniKernel v8-0002 (both Odin and TWRP)
*XtreStoLite Deo-Mod 2.3
Is it possible for certain wifi networks to affect push notifications? For example, my notifications from USAToday come through on my home wifi network, but not on my work wifi network. However, the notifications came through on both networks just fine using my GS4.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs I understand (at least is what the user's guide describes), the N97 connects to WiFi via 802.11b/g...Anyone knows if there is a way to connect the phone via 5Ghz WiFi connections?I have too much equipment in my house using the 2.4Ghz channels (bluetooth, PS2 controllers, etc), and I'm using a WiFi router in 802.11a/n with 5Ghz range to lower the interference.

"Wifi overview 360" app finds them all, but not android stock wifi app. which systemfiles i should check? (i have root)
With all of my previous Android devices, I could go into my wifi setting and get to a list of ALL saved networks, even if they are out of range. From there I could tell the device to forget old/random networks that I don't plan to connect to regularly (e.g. coffee shops, doctor's offices, etc). I haven't been able to find that ability on my Galaxy S6.
When I go to wifi settings, I get a list of all networks in range, and I can tap (or long press) and forget those. But I can't find anyway to get to a list of saved networks that are out of range.
My phone will no longer automatically connect to saved WiFi networks. It knows they're there, because if I go to Settings -> WiFi, it shows up in the list as a "saved" one. Tapping on it and selecting "connect" does nothing. I have to turn off the WiFi and turn it back on, and it will then automatically connect.
Additionally, WiFi will not stay off. If I'm some place I don't want it to connect to WiFi, I turn it off so that I don't get messages that networks are available (specifically when I'm driving, it's really annoying to deal with that over Waze).
I've got a Sprint GS5, running stock (not rooted), on 5.0. No updates available for the phone. It does this on every WiFi network I have saved (home, school, and school apartment, among others). I've also tried turning Smart Switch off and on, it makes no difference for either issue.
Experiencing random reboot on nexus 6p and lost 5ghz WiFi detection after that?
Need to do a hard reboot to get back 5ghz WiFi detection....
Btw, my nexus 6p is rooted and installed xposed....
I don't know if this is a Galaxy question or more and Android issue, but is there a way to make your phone look for 5ghz networks before opting for 2.4ghz? I only noticed because we were working on this network job where the radios were broadcasting both bands, the 2.4ghz was getting crushed, but the 5ghz barely had any users on it at all. It was really frustrating my phone kept connecting to the 2.5ghz radio. All the iPhone users were giving me total shit over it, as of course all their phones were defaulting to 5ghz. Also if I can't make it look for 5ghz first, can I force it to use it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedS5 is switching between the 2.4GHz & the 5GHz bands every few seconds. (Phone gets hot during.) Had the phone since Verizon released it; issue just started 2 days ago. No problem with daughter's S5 using same network.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just today bought the new Samsung Galaxy S2 HD LTE.
I got one problem already, which I didn't really expect. It finds more less all wifi's, at least the once I know of. I still use my iPhone 4, so the iPhone connects without any problems, but my S2 LTE can't even find it.
Since upgrading yesterday I have two questions. I have looked for ages but can't find the WPS button to connect to Wi-Fi. Secondly I hate the new smilies on SMS. They are plain green and small and you can't see what they are.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get to the bottom of my high Android System usage (currently 60%), and noticed that if I go into settings>wifi, I can see that my phone is searching for wifi networks every 10 seconds (it shows up in the gray bar near the top that says "WI-FI NETWORKS"). If I go to menu>advanced wifi I have everything un-checked, including "allow Wi-Fi scanning." I would think this would prevent the phone's wifi from constantly searching, but apparently not.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI hgave reset network, reset phone, hard soft shut down, plugged it into the router-time capsule, and nothing. It just keeps on spinning around and around. I do not have a VPN network, but I tried that, and still nothing. My office is where I have wifi-plus their are 10 other wifi's in the building it used to pick up, now nothing. Even at home nothing. Just spinning and spinning. It is 2 weeks old. I bought it in Canada, and am now in Africa. I purchased it factory unlocked, and it is running the 5.1.1 software. I don't want to take my phone to the apple resellers, as I bought it at an actual Apple store, and I don't trust the guy here in Tanzania. Is their anything that I have missed that I could possibly do? If you say fixed or static IP, I have no idea how to do that so if you could explain where that said IP is so I could utilize it, and how do I input it to my phone. I'm thinking that is my last hope. Other than that the chip or antenna are fried somehow-even though it is brand new, and has had a case on it the whole time.

I have an iPhone 4 and it has been using from 10MB to 100MB of my data plan while I'm on a WiFi network. This usually happens at night or when my iPhone is on standby and is killing my 200MB plan.I am almost always on a WiFi network and the most data usage seems to be around 12AM - 6AM. I have just picked up on this when I was out of state and needed to have my 3G on to get good reception (data roaming was off). Before then I usually never had my cellular network on and never had much of a problem. Now i have come home to an AT&T M-Cell. I cannot connect to the M-Cell unless I'm on 3G.
I have read many forums that all say that you need to turn off your data while I'm on a WiFi network. However this is just a work around and not a solution to what is actually using so much data. Has anyone found a better solution or has found an app that will keep a log of what is taking up so much of my data plan?
