Aug 16, 2011i updated to Gingerbread last nite and didnt know id lose the back up and restore function until i read it on this board. Ive tried to follow your instructions on how to get it back (ive downloaded OI file manager) but after that im lost!!! I wouldnt know where to start on trying to find the back up and restore as theres so many files on there? Also, one of my apps in particular hasnt appeared on my phone (maybe because it was a free one)? and i desp need it back as i stored all my passwords, log ins and pins on there and im totally lost without it....is there anyway i can retrieve all the info that was on it? Ive downloaded it again fromt he market but its empty

Dec 20, 2010Having installed the update I then went into back up and restore to restore my phone settings but it hasn't worked properly. Only about 20% of my phone book is showing and it says the SIM card is not available, none of my Apps returned and a theme I paid £1.99 for hasn't loaded properly as it's only got the wallpaper and none of the modified icons.My full contact list is still on the SIM card as I checked it in my previous phone that my Dad now has so why isn't it appearing on my phone? It's extremely inconvenient not having access to it as I don't have a back up anywhere else and most of the missing numbers are the ones I use regularly.

Aug 5, 2011Ok, i have updated my phone so many times and nothing has ever gone wrong, i have always backed up my files in the "Backup and Restore" App and there has never been a problem. I have just updated my phone with latest update and it has wiped my Apps including the "Backup and Restore" app! (My files are always sent to my memory card with no problem) Now i cannot restore any of my files and its really F***ed me off, The Xperia 10 has to be the faultiest phone i have ever had, even when the phone is locked and in my pocket it manages to change my settings and forwards messages to random people!

I backed up my contacts, messages, call logs everything.When the phone was updated and I restored everything contacts are missing all the rest are there.A little background to know. Apr 19, 2012I noticed on my phone bill this month that my phone had been sending literally hundreds of automatic text messages (SMS) to four numbers, at all different times of the day and night. I'm in the UK, and the numbers it's sending to are -

They're all included in my price plan, so it's not cost me anything, but I thought it was strange and started to investigate. I had noticed my text message allocation had been going down, even though most of my txts are to other iOS users, so I mostly use iMessage.
It turns out those numbers all belong to Apple - they're used for activating iMessage and FaceTime. And the reason it was trying so many times, is that the number my phone says in "my number" (Settings > Phone > My Number) isn't actually my number. I noticed this a while back, but it won't let me amend it, and because I thought it was just there for my information, I ignored it. So - I'm trying to activate iMesssage and FaceTime using my correct number. The number stored on the phone then tries to override that, attempting to activate the wrong number, which, of course, fails. So it keeps trying to activate - so far, having sent an average of 10-15 messages a day, over the course of 2 months. The incorrect number on the sim card is because I got a new account with my network (3), then swapped my old number from my previous carrier to this card. The only way to fix it is to get a new sim card, since I'm not able to amend the number stored on the sim.

Aug 6, 2011I can't get rid of two ''unread txts'' which keep showing up whenever I click on the screen of my Bold 9780 (between the search and the profile option). They actually look like drafts since if I click on them those numbers show up on the destinary field and the phone is giving me the option to write but I assumed they were unread txts because that's where I receive the txts notifications.However I've tried every single options the phone gave me and I also tried to send a text to those numbers but the notifications are still there.I hope someone could understand what I'm saying because I barely do myself (first blackberry)

Followed the instalation to the letter, backed up my files using the new backup n restore etc, updated it n then began the restore, now this is the frustration part. i did everything SE said to do even did 2 backups but when i try to restore it takes ages n then says could not complete. not only have i lost all contacts but more frustrating i have lost all my apps, both paid and free. my google account seems to be wrong although i cant realy remember it, tryed to get the user name/password sent to my hotmail but seems to of created a new account n i dont have these "links to re-downloads" ur android apps.

Nov 22, 2010Today I went to update my X10. While at work it wouldn't allow me to as it insisted I connected it to a computer. So at home I got the USB cabled hooked up to my Linux Laptop and then discovered it had to be a windows computer.Anyway, I got it hooked to a Windows computer and the update process began. I followed every instruction and set all tickboxes for backup.After unplugging this and plugging it back in and rebooting here and there, it finally reached the restore process.I left it restoring for a while. When I came back to it, it said something had crashed. I don't know what as I'd just woken from a nap.But, it seems all my applications are restored. Yet my gmail account & Facebook account have become disassociated from my phone and all my contacts no longer have any names or pictures. I opened the contacts/phone book and the list is completely empty. tried to import contacts but it says it cannot find any anywhere.

Mar 12, 2010Today my JB'd 3G on 3.1.2 went into a funky state and I attempted to reboot. Since then I've been stuck on the Apple logo at start up and nothing.
So, i put the phone in DFU mode and Itunes 9 is giving me the option to "Update & Restore", HOWEVER, I dont want to do this because I want to stay on 3.1.2 for obvious reasons. I also have been reading stuff about SHSH but I have no clue what this is so one can assume I never did anything prior regarding SHSH.
When itunes has the pop up on the screen saying "update and restore" can I hold "shift and click "update&restore" to choose a 312 ipsw, or is that option only available if restoring without being in DFU mode.

Oct 28, 2010I had faced this issue when i last updated my phone when the 2.1 had come out.. I installed the latest Backup and Restore application as recomended by the SE update site.. Then backed up my files onto an already existing backup (which i think has corrupted the backup), hence overwriting the file.. After that i upgraded to 2.1 and restored my files, which failed because the contacts were not successfully imported (even though the Backup and Restore app said that the import was succesful.)
i was asked to repair the firmware using PC companion and hence want to backup succesfully without any problems. I cant risk loosing my contacts again. And i want to know from others in this forum if they have faced this issue on normal backup (not overwritten on an existing backup). [URL]

Mar 13, 2012So i updated my phone last night and it said that it needed to be resotred so I did, but just before it finished, it did not complete it and now will not restore at all. Keeps coming up with Error (1). Mar 28, 2012I just updated my iphone and all my contacts have been erased. All recent calls and text messages are there. We have updated other iphones without losing the contacts. Is there any way I can get my contact information restored. We specified for the update to not sync contacts since I had no contacts in my itunes library. I had over 200 contacts on my iphone so i did not want to have to type them individually into my library.
