This has happened without any apparent reason. All settings are as before and I can hear the notification alert on tapping it in the selection mode. It just doesn't appear to trigger when I receive a message.

View 1 Replies View RelatedPhone doesnt ring or set of tone when texts come in anymore. I push the volume button and everything stays quiet, the volume bar now says incoming call volume for some reason too. Its not in silent mode either.
View 9 Replies View Relatedsince updating to 2.1 which actually went quite smoothly once i'd 'found' my contacts, my phone vibrates as well as makes a sound on incoming texts. The help guide (also disappeared off phone but can stll access online version) still refers to tapping settings & then tapping notifications.... well since the upgrade my settings menu has changed beyond recognition & when you tap settings there is no notifications option! The nearest is 'sound & display', in which i can change the sound used for texts alerts and also has a phone vibrate for incoming calls (which is unchecked) but nothing re vibrate for incoming texts.

The alert tone was not one that I have set or recognize, and I was only able to view "iPhone alert" before frantically turning it off. Does anyone know what causes these embarrassing audible alerts while in silent mode or know of a way to check past alerts?

I have a need to have text (SMS) messages to wake me, but I dno't want general emails to wake me at night. My iPhone 4s spends most of its life in silet mode, but I need all text messages to be obnoxious so that they will make me. When I had a BLackberry I could set different message notification types for example I can always have text messages loud but could silence anything else. I'm toying aroudn with setting the contact SMS to be the Alarm tone but I'm not sure how this iwll work when I have it in silent...
I've read articles on Google where I'm not the only person seeking this functionality; the most recent article was a doctor that was on-call. While I'm not a doctor, I do work an on-call position.

The alert/sound only appears for incoming bbm messages when I'm typing on bbm. the alert/sound is different than the sound that I set on the profile menu and the volume is much bigger. Ok, so I'm trying to work out how the silent modes work on my Z3. I'm failing.
So it seems you can press the volume key and by clicking the 'bell' icon I can scroll through 3 different modes: Loud, Vibrate and Silent.
Seems simple enough, only none of these modes silence apps or games at all.
I just want to put my phone on silence/vibrate and know that even apps and games will be silent too.
I thought I could put into vibrate mode and slide the media volume down to zero and it would rememeber it... then putting back into loud mode would make media slider go back to normal volume?... Nope, I have to change it back to loud mode and remember to slide the media volume back to normal...
My curve8520 has fallen and is not switching on. Took battery out and when replugged, it is only showing white screen but not booting. Tried several times but in vain as only white screen is booting and even when tried calling from other phone, it gives switched off message

When I first got my X6 I had my message alert set to vibrate and when i received a text message the screen would do so as well as displaying a '1 new message' alert in the bottom bit of the screen. Recently my phone has stopped doing this and the only way I can see I have a new message is by touching the messaging icon and seeing the red asterisk that appears at the top right of the inbox when there is an unread message in there.

It is set to play a sound (message 1), and i've had it for months it used to beep normally but now it doesn't anymore. and the phone is not on silent. It doesn't show the new message icon either. Only way I know I've got a new message is by going into the messages screen and seeing the red inbox sign.

For some reason, if I don't click there first when I want to view a new txt message alert an go to the text msg folder first to read the msg, the alert doesn't disappear (unless I do a battery pull). If I click on the alert, it brings me to a blank text messaging field and when I click out of it, it's still there. How do I get rid of these alerts w/o having to do battery pulls?

When I had my desire before, started out great...then it started becoming unstable...the usual what is the latest thing you installed etc...the ?motherboard got changed twice and in the end, they sent me a new one...I hate setting it all up again, such a heartbreak to get something as u like it then have to do it again.Anyways, I nearly converted to an iPhone when it was time to upgrade as none of the htc appealed but the one came out just in time.I have the one s since soon after it's launch and have been loving it......BUT, since last week, glitches are starting...first, I have noticed the battery going down much faster, can't say I have changed the way I am using it...then have also noticed that I am not being notified of new messages, I initially at times but now always, and have missed a few important ones! And lastly, the homepage loading is now slow...before instant, now you go into the loading icon with timer going around and once there, widgets take some time to get info.Have tried checking on updates, uninstalling last few apps, clearing cache, turning off and back on..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if someone could help. I own an iPhone 3Gs and for some reason when in silent mode, the phone doesnt vibrate when i receive a new text message (sms). It vibrates when I receive a call in silent mode, and also when i receive a reminder from Intelliscreen alerting me of a missed call or new sms.
Basically the vibration function works for everything except when i receive a new sms in silent mode and when i flip the swtich from silent to ring (and vice versa).
Due to the above, i can only assume that its not a hardware issue since it does actually vibrate. this happened a few months after purchasing (and jailbreaking) the phone so i can only assume that this is being caused by an app that I have installed since it was fine for the first few months. I have checked the settings on the phone a million times (vibrate is on for silent and ring) and I cant work out why this is happening.
I have statusnotifier, ireal sms (v2) and quicksms installed. i dont know if they're causing the issue but i have installed them and the prob still remains.Is anybody else having the same problem or can advise on how to solve the problem? ive searched long and hard on the net and connot find a solution.
