Samsung :: Reprogram The Default Action Of The Buttons

Jun 6, 2010

1. does anyone know how to reprogram the default action of the buttons, for instance, I would like to set this up like my previous Verizon (LG) phone. The top right button BROWSE - I would like to set that one up as showing my CONTACTS list when I depress it, since I don't web BROWSE very often.
2. I know how to press * to quickly lock the phone, but how do I make that require my password to unlock the phone, so other people cannot get into the phone? - right now it only requires you to press * to unlock the phone.

HTC One M8 :: Set Default Action For Favorites Contacts Doesn't Work

Jul 13, 2014

When I "Set default action" for my contacts in favorites , for example "Call Mobile" it doesn't stick so to speak. After I complete this task, when I click on a contact icon, it brings me back into the contact details instead of calling the contact as I specified when I set the default action.

Also, when I "Edit tabs" in my Phonebook, I put my favorites first. However, it always goes back to the phone tab...any input on that?

LG :: Have AX265 Banter From Alltel / Reprogram For Verizon?

May 29, 2010

Is it is possible to use my old Alltel LG AX265 (Banter) phone on the Verizon network by doing some software hocus pocus. I'm not very cell phone savvy, but I can follow simple directions as well as any 11 year-old.The Justin Timberlake look-alike at the Verizon store said I'd need to get a new phone from Verizon, and proceeded to push the Motorola Droid into my face. I'm sure it's a great phone, but I just want my almost-teenager to be reachable. I'm pretty sure he's gonna lose the phone within the year, so I'm not inclined to spend much money.

Samsung Galaxy S II :: Four Bottom Buttons Only Work Sometimes

Oct 6, 2012

I have a T-Mobile galaxy S II. not rooted or anything fancy. About a month ago I noticed that the four bottom buttons Search, back, home and menu. I tried turning it off and back on, taking the battery out and all that. However randomly they turned back on. They worked for a few days then did it again. It has been doing it on and off all month. A few times I was able to get them to come back on by shutting it off and plugging it in and turning it back on. Now that's not working at all. Iv done a factory reset still not able to get them back on. Now I can see that when I turn off the phone it goes to the t-mobile good bye screen then the lights blink for a sec then shut off. I've tried to do the *#1234# thing and it says its running the ussd scan but then says the process can not be processed.

Samsung :: Captivate - Back Light For The 4 Buttons Below The Screen - Turns Off After About 2-3 Seconds

Aug 14, 2010

I just got my new Captivate and it is a very nice phone. I have one issue with it and wanted to know if it is normal or do I have a defective phone. No matter where i am and what type of light I am in (i.e sunlight, darkness etc) the back light for the 4 buttons below the screen (Home, Menu,Search and back) turns off after about 2-3 seconds which is very quickly. It comes back on if I touch the buttons or if I touch the screen. I see a backlight timer for the screen but not for the touch sensitive buttons. Is it normal that the backlight for the buttons goes out in 2-3 seconds? Of do I have a defect?

Samsung Galaxy S II :: ICS - Missing Vibrate Option When Using Side Buttons To Change Volume?

Aug 7, 2012

I've had this problem for a while and now I'm getting work I don't want to miss my phone because I've put it on dead mode. Before I factory reset my phone, I was able to change my volume using the side buttons to go from different levels of sound, then vibrate only, then dead mode (complete silent and no vibrations). Now I only have different levels of sound and dead mode. I read about changing an option in sounds to vibrate only in silent mode, which will fix this but I can't find that either (my suspicians are that this option was taken out in ICS or moved to a secret location to foil my plans).

No problem I thought, just unmark it as default. But that doesnt seem to be an option, i.e. having set a default, the only choice seems to be to change it to another number not actually cancel altogether. The only way round it i could find is to add a new dummy number, mark that as the default then delete the number. Am I missing the obvious?

Samsung Galaxy S II :: Application Cannot Be Installed In Default Location

Jun 27, 2012

I have an Sii gt-i9100g running ICS 4.03 (non-rooted). Recently I've been getting an error when applications try to update: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location".

So I checked my phone storage.
phone memory: 1.97Gb
Applications: 647mb
Free: 247mb
USB storage has about 10.5Gb available.

I uninstalled a few applications I didn't need on a regular basis and then the phone was able to update the installed applications successfully. I went in to application management and there's no option to move the installed applications to USB storage (I don't have an external SD card). So this raises a few concerns:

1: How come there's a mystery 1.1 gigabytes that isn't accounted for in the phone storage? I thought all of Android ICS was stored in that missing 4GB of USB storage memory...
2: If the phone doesn't allow further installations to phone memory when there's only about 200mb available, and if the phone has reserved 1.1 gigabytes for some hidden purpose, then is it true that without buying an SD card, we only really have about 700MB available for applications?!
3: Why isn't the option to move applications to USB storage available under ICS? I believe this was available in Gingerbread.

I'm new to the SII, but if its the case that this supposedly 16GB device only truly has 700MB available for apps without an External SD card, then I'm gonna be pretty angry.
