I worked for nTelos for a while and my company phone was a Samsung Showcase Galaxy S SCH-i500. My personal account is a Droid X with Verizon.
Is there a way to make the unbranded Samsung work on the Verizon network since it is a renamed Fascinate?
The other day while playing around with it I dialed *22807 and it went to Verizon's activation line but I am not getting my hopes up on anything right now.
This is for my father-in-law's phone. He has just basic service, so no text or data plan. Bitpim doesn't appear to support it and I cannot find a USB driver for it. The phone does not currently have Kies installed (I don't even know if it is supported on this phone). And he can't install new applications because he has no data plan. Is he pretty much out of luck or is there some alternate way of doing this that I haven't discovered yet?
View 1 Replies View RelatedA couple years ago my wife bought a Samsung Instinct M810. I flashed the phone to Verizon so she could use PagePlus. Everything has been working fine but the phone has really been beaten up. About the only thing that still works is the speed dial function.
A few days ago I found another Instinct in mint condition for her. I have been trying to flash it to Verizon with limited luck. I activated the phone with PagePlus and received a phone number ( I was planning on porting her number when I had everything working).The phone connects to Verizon but it can't connect to OTP. If I dial a number I get connected to Verizon with the message "Welcome to Verizon, unfortunately we cannot identify your phone, etc."
The problem is that when I dial *22890 (or any *228xx number)the signal bars vanish and there is an indicator showing no service and the call is dropped. After the call is dropped the signal returns and I can again connect to Verizon. I have tried several PRL's, even the one on my wife's current phone but it doesn't make any difference. I didn't have this much trouble with her other phone so I am at a loss.
how would i flash a sprint blackberry to use on the verizon network seeing how they are both the same operating system cdma?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have mysteriously lost connectivity with verizon's 3G data network. Any apps that require internet connection won't load, emails aren't coming through, can't connect to itunes or app store, send texts, etc. If I connect to wifi everything works fine. Voice calls are fine. I did a hard re-boot on the phone. Everything is up to date. Running OS 5.1

I recently updated my blackberry software. EVerything worked fine, I has no problem updating. When I put my new sim card in (brand new sim, never been used), my phone registerd me on the verizon wireless network, even though I am livning in south africa with a south african sim card. I can send sms and make phone calls, but that it is! Before I did my sim swop and system update, everythin worked fine on this phone. I cant bbm, use the internet etc etc.I have tried everything. Tried to resend registerstation message, manually connected to 3G vodacom network and resent registration msg. I have called my service provider. I have rebooting. I even tryed restoring data from a recent backup i did when my phone worked, and that did nothing. EVERYTHING, and im on my final straw. I just want a working phone.

Several times while she's had the phone at work on her desk, plugged in and charging, it has shown SOS where the signal meter is and she lost all service. No phone calls, no email or messenger, etc. She went into manage connections and it showed T-Mobile as the wireless network one day, and AT&T another day, but this is a Verizon phone. How can that happen?

Also, I was at a hotel that offered free wifi, how in the world can I automatically search without putting the network name so that the wifi network shows up? (you know, like when you have a laptop and you just click and it shows you all the available wifi connections you can connect too, I thought it would be the same for my cell phone). I travel so much so it will be almost impossible to always know the exact name of the network.

I am ready to switch to Cricket anyways because I'm tired of paying $90 month for verizon when I can get the same stuff from Cricket for half, but I'm dreading both buying a Cricket phone and losing my Omnia (i900). I asked at the retail store if I got it unlocked could I use it since both are CDMA carriers and the guy didn't seem too informed. Also, another store rep told me that some markets were able to do that but my market (DC/Northern VA) would not support a verizon flashed phone. So what's the truth? If I get it unlocked can I get it to work on Cricket?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI woke up this morning and my Sch-A930 keeps "leaving svc area", "searching svc area", "entering svc area" and doing the process all over again . It might stay iin svc all of 2 secs before it leaves again . I did notice every once in a while the phone would display that it is in "power save mode." I had someone try to call my phone and it went to voicemail so I know it is sill on . I cannot send/receive calls/text messages .

View 1 Replies View RelatedOk so I bought an env2 off a guy on craigslist. I dropped my old one in a puddle but I really loved my env 2 so I bought a used one from someone on craigslist. When I went to activate it I discovered it was on revol's network, I dont live in the city hence I can get coverage on revol. Still says verizon all over it when you turn it on and off. I am not very savvy with cell phones but I am with a computer. I took it to the verizon store and they tried to put new firmware on it but it didnt work. I have a tough time beleiving that it can go from verizons network to revols but not back, if anyone has a way that I can flash the phone back to verizon.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIMEI can be seen,everything is fine, when plugged in my orange sim card it just said "mobile network not available". The signal strength is fine and can be seen. I tried an O2 sim card, a talktalk (vodafone) sim card and they both worked fine. both of my 2 orange sim cards didn't work on this phone, but they worked fine on my other 2 phones. latest update, just flashed orange stock rom KJ4, got the same problem.tried manually connect to orange, got notice that "unable to connect, try later".
some more detail:every time when I flashed a new rom, always a notice saying "can't access to "/system/csc/ORA/system/". Tried *#272*imei#, there was no optional CSC available.
I have tried reinstalling the frimware and all that did was lose my apps. Tried doing a different firmware and tried rooting all the same results. The phone is definitely unlocked and unblocked as while I was searching google I came across one of those secret codes to show the status of the locks and all 4 of the categories were unlocked. I have tried a batterry pull and tried cleaning the Sim card. Also just in case this helps when I g into Settings>Call>Additional Settings it says 'Network Or Sim card error'. However the Sim card is perfectly fine.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe network mode on my Samsung galaxy S5 device is always set at GSM only. When I try to change it to WCDMA only or GSM/WCDMA (auto mode) it changes back to GSM only. The area I am has 3G network and most devices I see have H but mine always shows as E no matter what I do. When browsing it takes a long time for pages to open because its always at E.
I have factory reset the device but still facing the same problem.
