View 2 RepliesOk, so when I am in the compose message view I start typing a name to send a message to and the phone shows me all numbers for that contact, even if I deleted that number... for example say my contact Lewis upgrades and gets a new number, I edit his contact, deleting the old number and replacing it with the new. Then when I type LEW into the compose message "to" section it shows all numbers ever stored under that name, if you know what I mean..? So i am typing someones name getting multiple numbers even if they only have 1 number to there name.This also seems to be the case if someone registers a number to FB and I overwrite that number with a new number
View 7 Replies View RelatedI seem to have a problem with duplicate contacts appearing ONLY on my text message screen when I go into the recipient menu. The duplicate contacts DO NOT appear in my contacts screen.
I have:-
Disabled contacts from phone.
Disabled contacts from Google
Enabled contacts from slim card only.
When I go to text message > add a recipient. I get a list of duplicated contacts?
I am trying to get my Jabra Freeway to operate correctly with my SGSII.Although in my list of contacts on my phone I have configured the settings to only show one set of contacts, (the ones I sync with google) my Jabra Freeway sees the other two sets of contacts. The ones on my sim card and the ones (I think) on my phone).How can I get rid of the sim and phone contacts but just keep the ones synced with Google so that when I try and make a voice operated call via my Jabra Freeway, I am not told I have 3 contacts with the name I want to call.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had lots of music in my galaxy s2 phone memory and then moved it all over to the sd card when I bought one. Now when I open up the music player (the standard one that came bundled up with the phone) I get 2 of every track when I open up an album, one track plays and the other one gets the message " the player does not support this type of file". I have completely deleted the whole music folder from the phone memory so where is the phone finding these duplicate files that will not play and how do I get rid of them
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought my Galaxy S2 on the 21st of July from Carphone Warehouse on a new contract (Panther 30). I've been with Orange for a few years now but it was time for an upgrade.Ever since I've had the phone, I recieve duplicate txt messages from anyone who txts me. It could be Iphone users, Blackberry users, other networks, you name it. I even get multiple txt messages from competetions (you know, when you try win all that gear on The Gadget Show and they send a conformation txt acknowledging your entry). I can recieve up to 5-6 of the same txt message throughout the day (they usually come in quite quickly) and I can even get them days after me first recieveing the original.I went back to Carphone Warehouse for their help but they suggested I rang Orange first to find out if it was a network problem or handset issue.Orange were useless at first but then I got through to technical support team 2. An action was opened and so we tried different solutions.
1. Factory reset of the handset. Didn't work.
2. Put my SIM card into another phone (Samsung D500). Suprisingly this worked and I didn't recieve any duplicates the whole day, which indicated it was indeed a handset problem. We agreed that I should go back to Carphone Warehouse and get a new handset but if the problem continued then I should get back in contact with the same chap in techincal support team 2.
3. Went off to Carphone Warehouse. Got the new handset. Unfortunatly the problem remained. It actually got much worse!
4. Got back in contact with the chap at Orange and he could see on his system that there were error codes and that the recieved txt messages weren't recognized at being recieved, therefore would be sent again and again. All the information we had was sent off the tech boffins at Orange to see if they could think of a solution.
5. Finally Orange came back with an answer, which was that I should try a new SIM card (register it and everything). So they sent one, which has only arrived this morning (took 8days). I've recieved the Orange txt that should come within 24hours and then deleted it and turned the phone off. BUT NO! This hasn't worked either. I've already recieved duplicate txt messages from someone. Three of one, and two of another txt.
I usually have 3bars to full signal where I am so it's not as though poor signal is causing this. Everyone else in the house is on Orange too and doesn't have this same problem. I never did either on my old Nokia 5800. It doesn't just happen at home though. I could be anywhere.
Signal strength (right now), -83dBm 15asu
Mobile network, GPRS (there is no 3G around us so I turned it off).

When I go to share a pic the email addresses come up but I have a duplicate address and would like to delete one of them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI follow the merge link but I don't want to do it one by one. Is there a way to do the entire contact file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI went to use my contact list and I discovered that my name & several of my contacts had been duplicated in name only, there is nothing attached to the name, but I cannot delete them. This just happened sometime in the last couple of hours, I made no changes during this time. I have a galaxy s5. I tried shutting off the phone and restarting it thinking it may reset itself; it did not change.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLove the phone - just got a really irritating problem. I've synced my phone with my gmail account - the My Contacts list has my key contact email addresses. Then I have multiple groups within gmail account relating to work emails etc, nearly 500 odd.
On the phone, when I click my 'Contacts' button, initially it showed all my phone number contacts, as well all google email contacts mixed with them. I corrected this by going to 'display options' to select 'display only contacts with phone numbers', so that I didn't have to trawl through random email addresses mixed with my proper phone contacts. Great, sorted.
But, when I go to compose a text message - if it is to one or two specific contacts it is fine...I just type their name and it comes up. If I want to scroll through all my phone contacts to send the same message to multiple contacts, big problem - I press that envelope button in the top right corner next to 'enter recipient', and it takes me to the Contacts list, but here it still shows ALL 600 odd contacts with phone contacts still mixed with google email contacts, which is impossible to scroll through and select multiple people to send a text message to....Does anyone know how to sort this out?!??!
Duplicate Contacts (Merge Contacts and Remove Duplicates does not actually work)
I have my contact spread out over mutple source like sim, phone, and accounts.
Problem is each account has duplicates on its own and there has been no cure to this madness.
I spent ages yesterday individually connecting each phone contact to their fb account and then today all of a sudden they all just dissapeared again! I don't want every fb 'friend' to appear in my phonebook, so how on earth do I do this so that it's not going to delete them all each day. This phone won't defeat me, it has such good reviews so I am baffled why I am having problems.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased 2 SGS II phones - one for myself and one for my wife. I have this same problem with both of them.When I go into Email and try to pull up the list of my contacts I can only see about 7 of my 50 contacts. The screen will not scroll to display all the contacts.It first was not working on my wife's phone. I checked it on my phone and it was working when I first tried it but it stopped working as I was testing the scrolling function. Now neither phone will scroll so you can see all your contacts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen i got my Galaxy S2, i had no problems adding photos to people in my contact list, but just recently, every time i search for that contact to add a new photo or update it, regardless of whether the contact already has a photo or not, it comes up with "Contact not found"??
These are the steps i am using (in case there is another way):
* Open photo from Gallery
* Touch Phone Menu (Comes up with Share Via, Set as and More along bottom)
* "Set as"
* Choose Contact photo
* Type name into "Find contacts"
* Immediately comes up with "Not found"
How to take backup of contacts(sim & phone memory), And wanted to restore this backup contacts if any mobile upgrades.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy missus has just bought the SGS2 - she previously had a Blackberry Bold 9780.The issue we have is getting her contacts from the BB to the SGS2.You cannot copy the contacts to the sim in the BB so I have had to do a backup of them using the BB desktop manager. That saves them as an IPD file.So how can I now get those loaded onto the SGS2?Will KIES recognise such file?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm selling my WP7 phone tomorrow and getting a Galaxy S2 sunday when AT&T releases it and wondered if anyone here has come from WP7 to the GS2 and found a good way to back up the contacts for the transition.. I do use Google mail and calendar on WP7 for my email and appointments, are my contacts and numbers saved through Google?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy question is about the contacts. Currently I have Gmail contacts, FB Contacts and T-mo Contacts (my carrier) How can I ONLY use the Gmail Contacts. I also want the phone to auto sync with Gmail contacts to update when ever a change is made.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have SGS2 Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) updated via kies.
In the contacts app, Im sure there used to be a way where by if you were syncing your facebook account, status updates and media would appear in the contact (In Contacts). This doesnt appear to be the case anymore.
I am about to do some travel and was wondering if this phone would add +61 to your stored contact phone numbers and minus the zero. I am in Australia and just need this Country Code. My wife has an IPhone and she can do that easy in one of the menu's somewhere. Does this phone do this if not is there an app capable of doing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt was fine until Monday when the contacts did it again. It also deleted all the information that was added to each contact (like facebook, email, picture etc) and defaulted itself to a standard work number. It would show doubles of some contacts, three of others, and some even four. I then went to AT&T and they just looked at me like I was stupid, saying that it was because I synced my phone to my computer. Well for starters, I don't have an address book on my computer, and I don't know how to used outlook. Also, I've synced my phone with my computer several times before with no issues.I then went home, called AT&T and the Blackberry Department and still nothing. They said it was all a syncing issue. So after all that being said, I re-deleted the extras and re-organized a few.
Today I noticed that when I linked one of my BBM contacts (she had gotten a new pin) to her contact info, the address book again duplicated itself. So I am guessing this is the problem? Is there away I can link BBM Pins to Contact Info without it duplicating all my contacts and deleting their other information? I'm really crazy when it comes to organizing, and I can't keep having my contacts getting messed up continously.
I have 2 contacts with the same name but different info under each contact. How do I delete one of the contacts? I can't do delete through duplicate contacts. One contact has the info I need. The other same contact just has an email address that's no longer valid. I can't find a way to just delete it.
