But I'm having an issue when it comes to receiving incoming calls.The phone always reads out the contacts name out loud, I've already deselected driving mode but it still keeps reading out all incoming calls which is really annoying.

View 1 Replies View Relatedever since I bought my Samsung Galaxy S II 4 months ago If I connected my laptop the phone would enter 'PC mode' or would say 'PC mode only available when idle' and I would have to close whatever was running at the time, this worked fine for connecting to Kies and syncing my contacts, calendar and updating the firmware etc. For the past week whenever I connect it to a laptop (tried 2) the phone only chargers via USB so I can't get it to work with Samsung Kies. I have tried enabling/disabling USB debugging in the options to no affect. I tried a factory reset assuming that would sort it out and it just the same! how annoying.

here are the symptoms i encounter:
1. video randomly pauses - after ~20 to 30 seconds of playback, the back light turns off and immediately goes back on and resumes playback. this is regardless where the video is stored.
2. online videos (e.g. from Internet) randomly pauses - after ~20 to 30 seconds of playback, video is paused and streaming is also restarted.
3. camera momentarily freezes - video display turns off and immediately goes back on as if it has recovered from an error. same is encountered when using the front camera.
also, if you know the web browser 'dolphin', it has a feature of 'keep screen on' that will keep the back light on even if there is no activity on the phone. however, since my phone is acting weird lately, the backlight of my phone turns off after some time even if the 'keep screen on' feature is enabled.
this gave me an impression that the problem must be somewhat related to the backlight or memory. but i am not really sure. i tried to power off the phone, removed the battery, removed the sim, removed the sd, but the problem still persists.
this is annoying as hell because i cannot watch videos smoothly anymore and my video calls randomly stops.
other details of my phone:
- not rooted
- android version 2.3.3
- system storage 894mb free out of 1.97gb
- usb storage 5.66gb/ 11.5gb
- sd card 192mb / 1.9 gb
- ram ~400-550mb / 837mb
i had bought sgs 2 about 3 weeks ago..it worked very nice but after 2 week it start automatically shut down at least thrice a day. i also went to samsung costumer center they format my OS and reinstall it. but does effect much now it automatically shut down twice a day what should i do is it a software or hardware problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a S2 for my son, now after 11 months the phone won't charge up and gets warm if we leave the charger on.I have another S2 myself and I swapped the battery and charger from mine to my sons and it still would not work.
With it been under 12 months I took it bak to the Orange shop who then sent it to Samsung who then had it for 2 weeks and then said it had water damage and they wont repair it. (My son later admitted he takes his phone into the bathroom and listens to music while having a shower )Taking this on the chin I then took it to a local repair shop who said its the UME - Universal Power Manager that has gone. They have tried to get hold of the part but according to them Samsung dont do this part.
My phone wont stay off, i turn it off but it reboots automatically, also the car mode keeps activating randomly/randomly thinks it is charging and connected to a pc.
I updated it to the latest firmware via kies as well. Edit: Phone is not rooted and alarm clock plus is also another app that randomly starts.
I am using a Galaxy SII since two weeks. It is an amazing cell phone. I had absolutely no issues with the phone until yesterday. But yesterday night i turned the phone off and then when I turned it back on, I am facing a problem that is really annoying me. I am using widget locker for locking and unlocking purpose of the phone. When I lock my phone, after about 5-6 mins, I see the display of the phone automatically waking up although I did not touch any of the keys. For about 1 min, the display will remain awake and then fall asleep automatically. This cycle starts at around 3AM and stops after 2-3 hours.

This always seemed ludicrous to me - surely the charging circuitry stops charging once the battery is at 100%
Some people suggest that the newer phones have different types of batteries that are less susceptible to the memory effect. Is this the case?Anyway, what would you suggest for an initial charge? I've had my SGS2 on charge for nearly 5 hours now. Is this enough, or should I give it longer?And what's the best practice for charging in general? Allow it to fully discharge every time? Is it bad to put it on charge before you go to sleep every night?
My samsung galaxy s5 shuts down automatically and it cannot be switch on inspite of the battery fully charged.

Super annoying. Is it the phone or just need of a new battery.

I have to switch off the phone which sometimes reboots when I do this, then it starts charging. I use advance task killer to shut as many apps down as possible but the battery still drains fast. I'm having problem with my Samsung Galaxy S II (GT- I9100). The increase volume button is not working properly. Furthermore, when open any random software i.e games, the volume/sound will be set maximum automatically and can't turn down even pressing the decrease volume button. Even if i set the volume to silent first before run a game, the volume will automatically set to maximum after i run the game. If i want to increase volume i had to increase it at setting menu. This also effect when i want to zoom in to take a pic.

Simply, when I send MMS phone automatically turn on data connection. Same, when somebody send MMS to me, Wildfire S automatically turn on data connection and retrieve MMS. Now I am using Samsung Galaxy S2. I have to keep data connection always on if I want to send and receive MMS. I don't want data connection to be always on because I haven't flat data plan. I tried Quick Setting app. It change APN for internet and keeps data connection always on (do not modify MMS settings). At this way I can use MMS normally, but my battery drain for just 8 hours!

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy beloved Galaxy S2 is currently with T-mobile for assessment as a result of a broken screen (under the glass) and the view of the shop was that as it was a broken screen it was automatically my fault.I am at a loss as to how they can know this without even seeing the phone. Hence why I was unprepared to pre-authorise a repair without knowing the cost first.I have no issue with paying if it is my fault (like I did when I put a phone through the washing machine or when I dropped one on a sharp stone and shattered the screen or when I left one on the car roof and drove off only to see it bounce in the rear view mirror!) but this time it was very different as the screen went black as if power had gone and it needed to be switched back on - i initially thought it was a power fault. The next day I discovered a crack in the screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBought an S5 off an amazon retailer about a month ago and it charges via it's usb cable through any computer or such like device, yet it won't charge via any usb plug adapter. I have tried usb 3.0 and 2.0 samsung official adapters, apple, 'universal' adapters etc with no luck at all.
I tried a factory reset, turned on usb debugging, all except sending it off to samsung.
My Samsung Galaxy SII ran out of charge and when I plug in the charger it is not charging. I changed the charger but still not charged.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently enabled 3G in mom's Galaxy S2. Now in order to make 3G or GPRS work, the user has to enable "Packet Data" in the Settings>Wireless & Network. In mom's case that "Enable Packet Data" check box automatically gets unchecked after few minutes.
1) Does it got something to do with the power saving settings?
2) Or does the anti-virus software or battery defender automatically unchecks it?
3) Or is it a virus / bug?
