I recently got an x6 16gb model, and I was wondering. I've seen loads of pics of the home screen, with the contacts bar and the contacts being shown on the home screen. Like this for example: On my screen though, it just shows the 'Add contact' widget. How do I get my contacts onto the homescreen?
View 4 RepliesI have recently updated my 5800 to the long-awaited v40 firmware and so far it's great, but I've got one serious issue with it. In the previous firmware, the contacts on the homescreen used the default number when I pressed the telephone icon, but now in the new firmware when I select a homescreen contact and press the call icon, a popup appears asking me which number I'd like to call. This is slightly strange, seeing as the same contact selected from the Contacts Book correctly uses the default number without asking. I have tried removing the default number settings and setting it again, and also removing contacts from the homescreen and adding them again, but neither worked. It's pretty annoying, because having certain contacts on the homescreen is meant, at least in my opionion, to speed things up, like speed dial, but now it requires an additional click before the call is made... So, anybody know how to make the HS contacts use default numbers?

Can someone please tell me what i've done wrong? or is it a fault with the phone?

Only way of calling is going thru contacts within the menu and if it is not there then you have to set it up which is extremely long and laborious! I have updated software and reset factory settings to no avail phone is only 2 months old!
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to v40, I've compared the new homescreen to the old homescreen and to the old homescreen with v21-31, these are my findings.
- The old homescreen on v40 does not have the email notification that Nokia introduced a short while ago and which was obviously VERY well recieved globally.
- The new homescreen on v40 has kinetic scrolling contacts which is, um, cute. It has the ability to control the music player (What I found to be very buggy, crashing it by simply pressing 'forward' when it's playing a folder with 1 song).
- The new homescreen on v40 does not have calendar and tasks, probably for the space the new music player-thing takes. This was my FAVORITE thing on the homescreen and I am sure I'm not alone.
I truly hope Nokia addresses these issues by either returning the email notifications to the old homescreen or somehow allowing to see the calendar and tasks on the new homescreen. Or both.
To all you guys that isnt satisfied with the Nokia 5800 homescreen and stuff. Spb Software has released SPB Mobile Shell for Symbian and it is really amazing. Completely changes the phone and makes it more flexibel with widgets on the homescreen. Check it out

If I try to access the homescreen it tells me "its already in use" and keeps diverting back to the menu screen.All applications are working, along with texts and phone calls. Its just highly annoying. This has occurred since the latest software update.

Basically I am unable to add any shortcut to the Orange homescreen, I understand you can only have 4 and have removed all existing shortcuts to make sure, I can drag applications onto the homescreen but when i tap on the 'add shortcut' icon nothing happens, I have tried a soft reset & this did not work either, I am reluctant to do a hard reset because I don't want to have to re-install/configure everything again.

Disabling or enabling this option doesn't change anything whatsoever. I like new features but I prefer having no option rather than being teased by a half-arsed setting.

The keypad button has turned in to a long button, with "Telephone" written on, and the contacts button has turned in to, a big bar with "Contacts" written on, something like older non touch nokias.
Oh, and none of the 2 buttons actually work! really annoying.
Also, on the 5230 you get some extra buttons/shortcuts on the bottom of the screen, so did i, but they dont work, i cant apply any programs to them.
And if i choose the upper contact bar to be a shortcut bar, nothing shows up, other than empy buttons (like on the bottom of the screen) and even there, i cant apply something...
This has been happening for several weeks now I get 0 warning that I have received a text message. No icon, no popup on the screen, no message tone, nothing.The only way I can tell whether I've received a text message is by checking my inbox.This is getting beyond a joke, I'm now on my second n97 since the last one bricked itself, the lock slide button has fallen off this one and now it's not telling me when I get texts.

I was playing last night and tried a Photo as Wallpaper but the fit is Stretched to whole screen and I can't see how to change it. Regardless of whether you launch Ovi from the quick launch type thing on the homescreen or on the menu, it doesn't work.
If you attempt to click on the icon on the homescreen, nothing happens.
If you click on it on the menu screen, the clock in the top right corner flickers and nothing happens.
I can't bear another hard reset, but i guess if i have to i will, any ideas?
Is there any way the E72 can be used to have a home screen like the Nokia 6500 whereby there are several options clickable from the main screen via a scrolling option. Where we have the 6 set programs, the 6500 has a really handy scrollable list - there are too many useful programs for the six options to be sufficient.

I have been searching for something that can give me like "LockScreen" apps information, the calender, on the home screen, so the calender occupaies the first two or three rows with the calender information and the rest is for apps.I would rather have that then the information on the lockscreen, since I really love to keep my lockscreen clean =)
