Nokia :: N97 Homescreen Not Showing Received Texts
Mar 18, 2010
This has been happening for several weeks now I get 0 warning that I have received a text message. No icon, no popup on the screen, no message tone, nothing. The only way I can tell whether I've received a text message is by checking my inbox. This is getting beyond a joke, I'm now on my second n97 since the last one bricked itself, the lock slide button has fallen off this one and now it's not telling me when I get texts.
I am on a call.I go into an email account then open an email. Then open the attachment to view the image.I then need to go to texts or some application from the homescreen.Normally I hit the "end call" button which goes straight back then, but obviously this would kill the call. So, I have to do Escape,Escape,Escape,Escape. Is there some means to go staight to the homescreen? btw, I did try holding down Escape to see if that works.IT doesn't.
After upgrading to v40, I've compared the new homescreen to the old homescreen and to the old homescreen with v21-31, these are my findings.
- The old homescreen on v40 does not have the email notification that Nokia introduced a short while ago and which was obviously VERY well recieved globally.
- The new homescreen on v40 has kinetic scrolling contacts which is, um, cute. It has the ability to control the music player (What I found to be very buggy, crashing it by simply pressing 'forward' when it's playing a folder with 1 song).
- The new homescreen on v40 does not have calendar and tasks, probably for the space the new music player-thing takes. This was my FAVORITE thing on the homescreen and I am sure I'm not alone.
I truly hope Nokia addresses these issues by either returning the email notifications to the old homescreen or somehow allowing to see the calendar and tasks on the new homescreen. Or both.
All of a sudden! The network tab on the home screen doesn't show anymore, I tried doing everything, I reset all the settings, tried removing the battery and so, I played with all the settings. And still no conclusion!
After updating to iOS 5.1 in my iPhone 4s, I can see that in the home screen, the calender is showing one day earlier that the current date i.e. today is 19-Mar-2012 but at my home page it is showing Sun-18 which is incorrect. But when I click on the calander it shows me the correct today date "19-Mar-2012".
Over the past few days I have received a message from my sister (who is in Antigua using an iPhone 4). The texts I receive are split into 2/3 texts. Is this normal or if not what can I do to resolve the hassle of receiving text messages this way?
Having issues with group texts not being received? None that I send go through nor do I get them. I can text the same numbers separately and everything is fine.
I have a Verizon m8, using Verizon messages as the texting app. I have been receiving duplicate texts. To be more in depth, when I receive a text from someone, a minute or so later I receive another exact copy.
Why does my iPhone not connect to 3g Internet but I can still receive and send texts etc. also I have tried different sim cards in the device and they also do not work... My provider is Optus but I doubt that has anything to do with it.
I had to transfer my info to a new phone, now none of the calendar entries are showing on the home screen. i've got 2 new calendars that i've never seen before, device default and unknown. those are in addition to my email calendar. DD = green, my email = blue, and unknown = yellow. the original entires are all green and DO NOT show up on the homescreen. any new ones i enter are yellow and DO show on home screen. any ideas why this is happening? i have a lot of future entires that i dont want to re-enter.
My battery died yesterday, and when it finally recharged today, I couldn't see text that I've sent/ that I've received. If i go to messages > sms inbox, I can see the messages, but when I expand them, it turns to a blank conversation window.
When I text, I also have no confirmation whether I got it or not. I've tried restoring my data, but it still remained the same.
edit: when I turned the phone on for the first time, it displayed a 'integer error 7 >= 7 (or something like that)' message.
When I send a text from work to my wife from my iphone 4 she receives an email on her iphone 3GS and her ipad 2 from <my phone number>@media messaging.o2.co.uk. The email says 'Here's a picture message you've been sent from <my phone number>. The message has no other content even though it is indicated that there is an attachment.
Is this a problem with my network provider or are there some settings which need changing?
I'm reading a text and I get two texts while I'm reading. They pop up below the loaded conversation, at the bottom of the screen. I can see who they are from and the first line of the message. When I return to the main text window however, the new texts are nowhere to be found, they have disappeared.
This is pretty frustrating--were they just glitchy re-sends of previous texts? Should I text the people who sent them and say, hey, did you send me a text today, because if you did, it disappeared?...
When I type my texts it looks how it should: just the actual text in a box. When I get texts from another person, the whole screen is filled with ALL the info about the text, etc. Can't find a setting to get rid of all that info in every text.
When I open sent or received picture texts, they appear with a white circle and black triangle as if it were a 'play' button. If I click on the pictures, they open as if they were a video, 'playing' anywhere from 5 - 10 seconds with a play bar below. There's no problem opening or downloading the photos, but it's weird/annoying that pictures are opening this way.
In the past week, my D4 has been putting incorrect time stamps on incoming text messages when using certain non-stock text messaging apps. All received texts (regardless of sender) are stamped 4 hours earlier than when they were actually sent. Makes threaded messaging a real pain.
Stock text message app is fine, as is Handcent. The problem seems to be isolated to GO SMS Pro (my preferred SMS app) and ICS Messaging (stock ICS-like). I have uninstalled both and reinstalled with no change.
Had this phone a little over a month now and notice that sometimes when someone sends me a text that comes in 2 parts because of the length of it, I will receive the 2nd part of the message first (out of order). Now this isn't so bad as long as the first part comes in so I can read the whole message. However I have had at least 3 situations where I only received the 2nd part of the message and never received the first part. So I had to ask the senders to resend the message over again. Now this could be a network issue and nothing to do with the phone but I don't recall this ever happening on any other phone I have used.
When I delete an individual text message, the text goes but then the time and date that message was received remains on the summary screen - not in the conversation thread but on the screen where all your messages are. Example - I sent a text at 8:30 this morning. The last text sent before that was at 9:30 the previous night. So I deleted the text from this morning and the text went but on the front screen it has last nights text against this mornings time and date.
I feel this was a hoax. I purchased the phone under the impression I would received 100 rebate/store credit and received nothing. Did anyone get there $100 rebate/credit from nokia or ATT?
When I get texts they pop up on the screen as soon as I get them. This is bad because I have weirdo friends who send some weird messages and I dont want my parents or my little brother to see them. I had the same problem with my old C902 phone, I dont remember how did I did this. and Its different brand to brand. How do I get it to just go to my in box instead of popping up on the screen? It is an HTC Touch phone.
Phone numbers and names from my contacts whether it is saved or not doesn't show on my screen whenever I received a call. I cannot return important calls most of the time.
This is kind of confusing but I am not receiving texts. I know they are being sent because I have color lite id configured and the light changes as if I received a text, but nothing.I have confirmed with the senders and they did text, from both sprint and verizon. I can also call ,receive email and have internet access.I can also send texts and they are received. I called sprint/blackberry and they provisioned the phone again but still nada. I have had this phone about 6 months with no problems , no new operating systems and I did a battery pull along with searching for answers and still nothing.
I have the bla blackberry curve 8350i and on blackberry's website it Indicates upon updating to version 5 features would include chat like messages as in the way bbm chats look. But I can't not figure out how to do it on my phone
My phone has stopped showing I am receiving texts. It will get them but once I open the convorsattion it only shows the messages I have sent, not the received.
