I can't see how to do this on the N900 although the facility must be there because when I go to contacts and press the drop down menu there is a tab that says 'groups'. When I press the tab it lists my groups as sim cards contacts. I have no idea how to create a new group.

I found one option to go on icloud and make new groups and add the contacts I want to those groups.
I cannot figure out how to get those new groups to actually show up on my phone.
I don't use icloud for anything, other than backing contacts, thats it.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter the ICS update my email groups won't function. When i type in the group name it doesn't appear as an option for me to select. This is incredibly frustrating. What's more, the only way you can use the group is by navigating to contacts, scrolling over to groups, then pushing the group, then clicking "send email" this would be fine if i always selected the group before sending the email, but my primary use case is taking a picture and sending it to a distribution group (pictures of my kid sent to grandparents and family every day). When I take the picture then click the button to attach it to an email, then try to type in the group name, it doesn't appear.

my 5800xm has a 5 sec to 7 sec delay when im creating message.sometimes even when press the menu it has a 4 to 6 sec delay.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded a compilation album to my PC in MP3 format and created subsequent folders for each CD in the album (CD1, CD2 and CD3). Each CD has 20 MP3 tracks in and each has included track listings 1- 20, this is the same for all 3 folders. When I drag and drop the 3 folders to my X6 (mass storage folder) it says it has copied 3 folders. When I remove the X6 from the PC and go to play the album, the X6 has created 1 folder with 60 tracks in, and the tracks are listed in track order, so the order goes 1,1,1,2, 2,2,3,3, 3, which is a pain as the album is a dance music album and the tracks are supposed to mix into the next track. Why doesn't the X6 created 3 separate folders as per the PC? Failing an answer for the above does anybody know how to edit the track listing number field on my PC (running XP)?

My contacts is in extras-devel and works great. it has a full screen widget you can turn on and off too.i have been able to create 4 groups of people/contacts and assign rings to them. (currently only see wav files) i am sure there will be some updates to make it better, but it is a great start. i have had no issues with it so far, so even the noob should be ok trying it.

I'd like to see my groups straight away (e.g. clients, business partners, friends, etc), open and search them, rather than finding them among the contacts. Actually, this setup misses the whole point of classifying contacts into groups! What on Earth was Nokia thinking? Is there any way around this? A firmware update or a third-party app? Also, how are contact groups managed in the N97 mini? Is it the same, or does that mobile finally allow you to see and search groups directly?

View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday I finally wanted to organize my phone contacts. Why does the phone always go back to the group after adding a single member? I always have to click the add member again and then click the letter I was last and search for the next contact. This is very bothersome, why can't I select multiple contacts or at least go back right to where I last stopped.
Why in the world can I only add up to 20 members into a group? My family contacts is about 50 or 60 and my work contacts are at least 40 as well. Why is there such an arbitrary contact limit? If it is because of group SMS then simply make it possible to disable this feature for bigger groups.
Overall I find the people app very annoying. The Lumia 900 is a phone first, not a tablet. As such I would expect it to have all the features a phone needs. No phone profiles (Silent, Phone alert only, all alerts, etc.) no separate control for ringtone sound and all other sounds, no notification of missed events when the phone is locked.
Anyway to surpass the 20 members per group limitation...I have to say this is really annoying why is it old androids phone let you have close to unlimited members per group according to your SD card storage, but not for Lumia 900
so I am thinking Nokia should mark this as a play phone not for business usage? I am quite frustrated that I got a new phone but force to use back my 5800 xpress music because most of my contacts transfer over is kinda screw up, and yes I have went to a Nokia care center and all they can reply "is a new software is like that".
The max number of persons allowed in a contact group is (as far as I know) restricted to 20 persons. This seems very low and I wonder why this restriction is applied. A limitation of 20 persons in a group is not practical.

Instead, every message is identified by the phone number. So whereas before I could easily id them now its more difficult. Anyone know how I can get the original setting back? Messaging is set to display in groups.

(S) = displays a moon
(C) = displays a coffee cup

Posting on behalf of my brother who got a nokia 6303 with vodafone uk in november 2009.He previously has had a nokia 6300 phone with o2.
He has had trouble sending texts to US from UK (the texts are not getting to US person). Tried several things that vodafone have suggested and nothing has worked - today he is out to collect a new sim card from them. And if that fails, its a problem with phone.
I have tried to do an update to the firmware (vodafone suggested trying) but the version on the phone is 8.* something and nokia pc suite (OVI suite and nokia updater) software all say its the latest one available so no update possible.
I have googled to see some pages mentioning version 10.10 for nokia 6303 - if that exists, its not updating the phone when I try.
So really have no idea why international texting is not working with this phone. The o2 sim was also tried in the phone and it too failed to send the international text even the sim works and sends texts ok in other phones.
I have a nokia N70,for whatever reason, whenever I have the memory card in the phone, my texting doesn't work properly. the edit/pencil button doesn't do anything, and it doesn't display what mode i'm in eg. abc, ABC, 123. However, when i take out the memory card and reboot the phone, I can text just fine.
