Nokia :: Safety Camera Detection Not Included In Maps 3.03
Feb 24, 2010
Is it possible that the safety camera detection isn't included in maps 3.03.I have a Nokia 5230 and the free navigation ( no licence needed) and maps 3.03 installed.I have downloaded the maps and navigate always off-line.When a navigate I get the announcements that i drive to fast but i don't have the safetycamera (speedcontrol) detection. Normaly they are downloaded at the same time as the map.Last remark : i live in Belgium, so is it pôssible that the camerafunction doens't work here.Is there a solution to install it on my mobile.
My phone was running fine on Anna, then last week I had this SW update... Since then my Maps has gone weird. The issue is with Safety Cameras. I use it with alerts activated. But when I approach a camera it has the speed limit for the camera completly wrong so the banner turns red saying I am going 25mph too fast... Example Im on a 40mph road, Im driving 35mph. A Speed camera comes up and instead of just alerting me it recognises the camera as a speed limit of 15mph, so it warns me Im driving 20mph too fast! This happens on 30 40 50 roads and also motorways...
To try and resolve Ive had my phone plugged in to PC Suite and done a RE-Install of the software but its still the same... I have the latest SW and latest Maps SW too.... I am bambuzzeled *sp as to what this "Anna update" did..
I'm yet to have this phone delivered but I'm looking forward to it. I was thrille dto hear that Nokia do updates which can also enhance this phone's cameras which is really cool. My question is if Nokia could make an update that gives the phone Face Detection, Smile Detection, and all those other modern camera features? It seems unlikely to me but I was just wondering if they could do this, and if they, can they do it soon.
Ovi maps 3.03 I have put safety spot warner on by going to Options -> settings ->Navigation ->Safety spot warner => On (My Speed limit warner is : On, 1 km/h , 5 km/h) I used to had this working on previous OS of my Nokia E52. It does not work anymore on OS E52 033.002.C00.01 E52-1 RM-469 , i have today reinstalled the ovi maps and the belgium map, still nog go Looking at the info on this website tells me that , a process running in the background is updating the safety spot warning database. How can you debug if this process is still running?
Do you know why the E66 it is not included into the list of the free maps phone? I bought it two months ago, I use maps and now they are for free in other models that are absolutely similar to E66 (for specs, price, etc.).What can we do to push Nokia to change his policy?
My UK N8 has the maps (3.06) configuration to use imperial units, yet this morning, safety camera limits STILL showing as metric.I'm guessing it's issues with the data in the safety camera file that gets downloaded over data - so what keeps going wrong, recently, for this to keep cropping up?
Is there anyone out there that has a Nokia 5230 and is able to be alerted to Safety cameras in offline mode ? I purchased this phone in Feb and have upgraded to 3.03, have deleted Cities folder and QF folder and reloaded both 3.03 software and maps so many times I've lost count - but still get no Safety Spot notification ( Safety Spots is 'on' in navigation settings ). Interestingly there is a folder called 'Safety Spots' under the Cities Folder - diskcashe file, but when you access it there is no data in the file .
I have no idea if the camera warnings appear in online mode as this never seems to work as I always get the message ' something went wrong and the connection failed - please try again' - I have no idea how to fix this, the Internet settings for O2 are correct. In any case I have no intention of using maps online. My assumption is that the Safety Camera info is recd from the downloaded maps and therefore should work in offline mode.
I own two E90, on one of them I have licensed City Explorer and Drive Europe. Then I bought a Traffic & Security license as an option, but I made a mistake and used the wrong E90 with a different CIM card.
How can I transfer the Traffic & Security License to the E90 where my Drive Europe license is?
Yestrday when i swtchd on my mobile nd i was shockd to see the inner screen cracked !!it niether fell nor hit anywhere hard.. but usualy i cary it in my jeans front pocket..no idea y such a small pressure caused it to crack. the front layer is fine...u wont notice the crack until the mobile is swtchd on..

I have a 5230 (v10.0.071) and I'm trying to connect it to my PC.I've used the most recent versions of software updater, PC Suite and the Ovi software from this site but my phone remains "undetected". Windows 7 detects the device but fails to install it, which isn't something that surprises me.
A couple of days ago I had to a hard reset (all 3 stages) and since then the PC won't recognise my 5800 as a phone (in media transfer mode)..........BUT it now recognises the memory card as a proper computer drive (drive D, a second HDD which is now corrupted) if put into 'mass storage' mode!! It now appears on the Windows device driver as a 'portable device' and not under 'USB connections' as before.I've done a System restore on the PC to back before the phone reset with no success. And the phone behaves perfectly in all respects. The problem with the 5800 not being detected as a phone is that the C drive does not appear and so is not accessible.
Every now and then the pop up menu to select a network connection (ie. search wlan...) keeps appearing on my home screen. Is there a way to disable this? It is getting quite annoying. I have set the 'Show WLAN availabiliy' to Never in the WLAN settings but it still appears every now and then, probably when a network is nearby Im guessing.
I bought an N8 shorty after it was released. Slowly over the past three or four months, the touch screen detection has been slowly becoming inaccurate. The phone detects that I am pressing slightly above where I am actually pressing. Is there any solution to this problem?
I bought my phone Nokia C5-03 two weeks ago and from day one when my phone is in my jacket pocket every few minutes I get the warning message of extraction of the card memory with safely.
I have off and on the phone, safely remove the card, formatted the card ... and still receive the message.
I have a N85 Navi which I bought less than a year ago. I updated this week the maps and the application (latest version)and added one voice for the navigation. After this update when I open the Maps and select Settings and Navigation (to change i.e. voice), Maps closes automatically without any error messages. I can open all the other settings sub-menus. Any ideas why this is happening? Do I have the to re-install the application, maps and voices?
I am using Nokia Maps 3.03 on my E71 (language: German) plus Nokia Map Loader 3.0, but I am experiencing several problems: Nokia Maps goes online via Internet for a few seconds (which costs me) although I set it to my Wireless connection. How can I switch that off? Every time I load a new map (and voices) via Map Loader and then start the software on my E71, it tells me that the maps are out-dated and I need to delete them. But then I do not see any maps in the software, and also the load of the voice is gone.
I have finally moved into the 21st Century and have had my 5800MX for about a month now.Type RM-356 Firmware Version 50.0.00.5
I have a problem with my Maps Application. Firstly I only have 9 icons on the Maps display page instead of the 10 that is shown on the Nokia website, I have found I do not have the Michelin guides........any ideas why?
I cannot download the Here and Now 2.0, it states that the Installation failed and have tried many times to reinstall it. Does this have anything to do with the missing Michelin Guide icon not being there?
I updated today to Maps 3.01. (To be noted that Ovi Suite still considers there is a new version of Maps available and would download and install 3.01 again any times I click on update.) When starting Maps the load screen with progress bar appears, then I can see an "empty" map. No keys work. After a few seconds (around 10 or so) the phone restarts.I deleted Cities folder and the file QF, rebooted, reinstalled etc. nothing helps.
The maps in my Nokia X6 16gb are gone after i ran an update in which it says will delete the old maps and voices to replace newer ones. Upon completion of the update, when i checked maps that are available in my device,Instead of new updated maps, there is only 1 map left which is Hong Kong and Macau, and i don't live in either one of it. Tried downloading the maps through the Ovi Suite, always got the message "The connection to the Ovi Maps server timed out"
I've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps: 1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture? 2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this? 3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
About a month ago I bought the Nokia 5800 as I wanted the free Sat Nav, I have version 3.01 on the phone, when I phoned Nokia about something else I asked them about version 3.03 and they told me I could not install this until I had used all the days of my 10 free trial, then I was to ring them again and they would help install it for me, after 55 minutes on the phone we had no joy, so I decided to try myself and did it first time. Now the question I need answered with your help is, I am going to Italy in June and when I open the GPS (offline) it works fine in the UK where I live, and when I input the town Pisa, Italy it finds it on the maps, does this mean that the Sat Nav will work in Italy or is this just a map?
When you download version 3.03 does it download all the maps? Also is there anyway I can find out which maps I have on the phone?
using Ovi Maps 3.03. Sorry if this has been asked already but a couple of things :How do I check what maps are actually installed on my phone? How do I know if there are newer map versions available than whats installed on my phone?Im asking this because I noticed the Ireland map on maps.ovi.com is more up to date than whats on my phone. I installed the Ireland map again using ovi suite on my pc but it's still missing some new details that are found on the maps.ovi.com map.
I`ve tried to upgrade my Nokia 6210 Navigator from Nokia maps 2.0 to Ovi maps 3.01 but it. Doesn’t seems to work. If i try to upgrade it with the old Nokia map updater it just says: Cannot get enough information about the phone unspecified error. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? I also get a error message when i try to use this file that ovikovi posted (http://static.s2g.gate5.de/nokiamaps client/nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis). The error message that shows up in the phone is: It doesn’t work to install this file, the unit is built in! And in Ovi Suite it says: The file is in use. Another application is using nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis /I´ve also tried to uninstall the version og Nokia maps that is installed on the phone but that doesn’t seems to be an option ! Any one who has a clue of something that can solve my problem?
Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
After opening Ovi Maps, and going to any function. The software/program, shuts itself down before I can proceed to 'my position', 'drive', or even 'walk'. I cannot even seacrh or go to settings.
i have maps 3.04v? i used Nokia Suite to transfer maps of Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia and Serbia. Nokia Suite also transferred Europe base map. But i think i can only view base map of Europe. I cant view detiled maps of cityies.
