Feb 1, 2010I was trying to back up my contacts from my Nokia E51, but something went wrong and they are now missing.
Here is what I did:
I downloaded the Nokia E51 iSync plugin found on this page after selecting E51: http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/isync/compatibility-and-download.I made sure iSync.app was not running and installed the plugin.I created a group in Address Book.app called Nokia, into which I was going to back up my contacts.I started iSync and added my mobile device. I chose to sync Contacts into the Nokia group, but decided not to sync the CalendarI chose to merge data (not to erase the device details first, which is another option)When I clicked sync I saw a message on the phone stating "Sending 315 contacts", and a little while later, "Receiving 315 contacts." Finally, a "Sync complete" (or something similar) appeared.
After this, I was a little more than shocked to find both the Nokia group within Address Book.app empty, as well as the contacts list on the phone it self. In pure desperation, I restarted the phone, but still - all my contacts are missing.
I know that the webpage says that one should backup all details before synchronizing - which in itself is somewhat of a chicken and egg problem. Backing up is exactly what I was trying to do.
Does anyone have any pointers or ides that I could try to get back the (potentially, hopefully) lost data? I haven't written anything back to the contacts list, is there a way to reconstruct (parts of) the contacts list by reading the memory directly (similar to how deleted files can sometimes be recovered if they haven't been written over)?

Jul 11, 2012I cannot get the media transfer to work with my 808 pureview, it worked fine with my E7 running Anna, but it just get stuck "searching for device" when I plug the 808 in. If I set the 808 to media transfer I get the message "your 808 is not in a mode used for media transfer" then when I swtich it back to Nokia Suite, media transfer gets stuck looking for a device?

This gets really confusing: Is the domain name an incomingt server or outgoing server, or something else entirely? Is the "Server" field for incoming or outgoing server? Mar 19, 2012The n8 has a minimum shutter speed of 1/15s in the default camera (from what I have read). With CameraPro, you can get it down to 1/5s (although I am sure I saw 1/2.5s). I would love a bulb stop, but a multi second option would also be great. Night shots could be enhanced - for example car headlight trails, star pics (ie. astrophotography).
Anyone know the 808 minimum shutter speed?

Jan 24, 2010I just bought the 6350 and am mostly[1] satisfied. My biggest problem with the handset is that there's no support for the 6350 in Apple's iSync application and there isn't a plugin available from Nokia. When I bought it I had to enter all of my information by hand (since a SIM transfer completely sucks[2]). Now I'm having the handset replaced because the back is falling off and I'm faced with reentering all of that information again.
So, when will there be iSync support for the 6350? And are there any other ways (other than the aforementioned sucky SIM card method) to transfer all of my current data from the old 6350 to the new one when I get it in a couple of days?
[1] Modulo pathetic default ring tones and inadequate bolding of calendar dates which have attached notes.
[2] The SIM card method of transferring information sucks because all the names are UPPER CASED, names with multiple numbers are converted into two names, all the number type information is lost and, the last time I tried it, no calendar information was transferred ...

Tried resetting the settingso n the phone and updating the maps on the Nokia Store. Now I'm stuck. Nokia drive was my second reason for buying the phone after the camera, so I'm a bit distraught lol. Sep 12, 2012It's a couple of days that my newest 808 PureView fails to set up email accounts via the "Nokia Mail" option.
I choose the "other" email option to set up my university email, and after putting all the account information and settings, I get this error message:
"Cannot enable the mail service that allows you to fully experience your favorite providers because connection to the mail server is not possible with the settings provided.
Select 'Next' to set up mailbox without this service. You can attempt to connect to the server by adjusting the mailbox settings later."
I have noticed several other posts about this here and in other forums, but I didn't find any solutions. (I saw a post about setting the date/time correctly, which is correct in my case, and to not use Wi-Fi, which I tried as well, but the problem is still there).
I was able to easily setup my emails on my previous 808 phones and my N8 and other Symbian phones.
Nokia Nseries :: 808 Pureview - Playing Mkv Files Larger That 2GB?
Aug 20, 2012I have found that mkv video files I have which are larger than 2GB will not play on my new 808. They play absolutely fine on the N8. I have tried with both Fat32 and exFat file systems on my 64GB microSD. Anything smaller than 2GB is fine.

May 14, 2012iphone 4 won't turn on. I press top button and still nothing. I plug it in and there is a pic of plug and itunes logo. I hook it to my computer and itunes comes up and says it has detected a iphone in recovery mode. It asked if I want to restore so I hit restore button and it starts extracting. When done extracting, a messages comes up and says this iphone can not be restored error 1656. What can I do now? I bought this phone new in October. It has not been damaged in anyway. It started one morning after charging all night.
