Aug 21, 2010I set up iTunes to sync my contacts with my Google Gmail account before restoring to 4.0.1. Everything worked just fine other than having to go through and remove a few duplicates.Now I'm trying the same thing with my wife's phone. I set iTunes to sync her contacts with her Gmail account. It asked me if I wanted to Merge or overwrite the contacts on the iPhone. I selected Merge, but when it was done, it only had her Gmail contacts on the phone (with e-mail addresses only). All phone number contacts were gone. Thankfully most of them were still on her SIM card.
Before all this I tried to sync her contacts with an empty group in Windows Address Book, and it ended up copying the empty group to her phone, NOT copying her contacts to Windows Address Book, and it also copied the group with all of my phone's contacts to her phone.
How in the hell am I supposed to get this thing to work?I even tried setting up her Gmail as an Exchange account with mail, contacts, and calendars set to sync, but I still couldn't get her phone contacts into her Gmail account.I swear I'm about ready to manually type out all of her phone's contacts and numbers and just put them back on the phone after restoring to 4.0.1.

Jun 4, 2012I am using Windows contacts for syncing my iPhone contacts through itunes. I have the latest iTunes and iphone 4.
All the contacts sync with WIndows but NOT all the numbers witihin the contacts. For e.g. the numbers stored in my iphone under type "iphone" do not sync nor do numbers stored under a custom category. last time I refreshed my iphone from my backup I lost a lot of numbers.

Jun 4, 2014I have a really old 3Gs that will not sync contacts (or even offer the option of syncing to) my gmail contacts. I've tried everything. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I reset my phone's settings. I made gmail the default email account on my phone and changed the port to 443. The only option it offers is my Windows Address Book, which apparently isn't even a thing anymore (it's now Windows contacts).I don't want to pay for the cloud because I don't think I'll have this phone much longer and I can't afford a new (or even used) iPhone...

May 5, 2012Like all I see I also bought a windows 800 on the basis that all our team of 50 would change from Iphones to windows so we could sync with our outlook which is not server based but we each run our own outlook folders but no there is no outlook sync. Yes you can copy to the live account and then use that as your main calendar but who wants to do that?
I asked and was told specifically that it would sync with outlook so the Carephone Warehouse guy either lied or did not know his stuff ( I know what my guess is!) Amazingly my wife's samsung galaxy using Android does sync.
If you can tell me how I can synchronise my windows phone with my Outlook without exporting and importing CSV and ICS files then please do so.

Apr 1, 2010I am using the latest 2.1 ovi suite and the other day I went to sync my contacts and ended up having a lot of duplicates on my phone (nokia 5800), I logged into to ovi via the web and saw that all these contacts were duplicated on the website, I was wondering how did this happen?, and also is there anyway I can set it so that when I syc my contacts it updates them from the phone to the web, but it doesn't touch the contacts in the phone??
P.S. is there away to delete all the phone contacts on the ovi web page, I can only see an option to delete them one by one!!

Jun 16, 2010Back again with more probelms, i seem to have taken a step back by installing Ovi maps and now get the error 2148532241 reported when trying to sync.Using vista home edition and the latest version of PC suite.I had problems with Ovi suite so only installed it for the maps then uninstalled to revert back to the PC suite which previously was working sort of ok.I can still access contacts and meesages no problem but no sync - any ideas?as much as i love the phone E72 it's going back if this is an indication of things to come.

Dec 22, 2012ok so i just got a nokia lumia 610, but everytime i try to add a new contact, i add a name and a phone number and as soon as i try to save it, it pairs it up with either facebook or hotmail (by itself), and then it says i cant it as i have choosen not to see contacts from facebook/hotmail, i would happily have my facebook contacts showing but the last thing i want is 300+ people on my phones contacts that i will never phone, or text, also if i try to show contacts from facebook, and then delete the 1's i don't want to see, it doesnt let me press delete so is there a way to connect only some contacts to facebook, so you only see the 1's your going to use and have the number of, or is there a way to delete the contacts you dont want to see from the peoples/contacts? if i cant sort this out i wont be able to use this phone,

It has over a thousand people beause it imported all my facebook, skype, google and etc. on there. So when I try to search someone or just push search the entire list of over a thousand people pop up and I dont want to look at a bunch of random facebook friends when in reality I only call about 10 people regularly on that list. I have tried to filter and it just says synching then goes back to the home screen. I have tried filtering and a few other things but it just continously says synching in the top right corner. How do I get my contacts to only be saved phone numbers?

Oct 11, 2012In sheer frustration to try and separate my phone contact from my windows live contacts, I deleted several contacts from my Windows Phone and this has also subsequently deleted the contacts off MSN Messenger (yes I now know that they are synced).
I then logged onto the Windows Live homepage and was able to undelete the contacts but they are not re-appearing on MSN Messenger. I can see the contacts re-appear on my Windows Phone and on the Manage My Contacts page of Windows Life.

Jan 29, 2011I don't seem to be able to sync my contacts to my Microsoft Outlook (2003) from my N8. It worked fine with the N85. I get an error message from Ovi Suite that neither Calendar nor Contacts could be synced but the Calendar does get updated. Unfortunately not the contacts. When I go to Sync Options and select Outlook for contacts and calendar I get a message from Outlook that it cannot connect to the Exchange Server, but I don't use Exchange server, I use a private e-mail account. I have tried to set up the account again as per the Ovi Suite error message (Error 83860004) but nothing. Of course also restarting Ovi Suite.
