I have aN79 and use the fm transmitter to play mp3's loaded on it via my car radio system. When using nokia maps at the same time the transmitter is turned off when a voice comand comes from Nokia maps then when it is finnished it comes back on again.
Why can't/arn't the comands transmitted to the car system the same as the mp3's as they continue to play from the phone as the comands are deliveried.
Is this as good as it gets or can you get it to work with the transmitter?
In Ovi Maps software the voice instrucions no longer get played over the FM transmitter. What happens is, the music goes silent on the FM, the voice instruction and the music is played on the phone speakers (or Bluetooth device, if connected), then at the completion of the instruction the music goes back through the FM transmitter again.
I don't know if this topic was already discussed here. I didn't find it.If I have activate the fm-transmitter in my car and nokia maps is running as well, the output of the music comes over the radio, but the output voice of nokia maps comes over the phone. If any advise comes from nokia maps, the connections interrupt via fm-transmitter completly.During the time of the nokia maps advise both, music and nokia maps, sending the sound via phone. Is there any possibility to avoid that problem?
Thought the new Nokia N9 was going to give me everything I wanted in a phone, particularly 64gb memory for my music collection (10,000 songs). So I could finally say goodbye to having my nokia phone and also carrying my 120 gb ipod for my music. However I note there is no FM transmitter in the phone so I cannot use a N9 in my car as my music source to play via my radio. So unfortunately the N9 just misses on being my perfect phone, seems I will just need to keep looking or wait until Nokia produce a better phone or for Nokia to just add a FM transmitter to the N9
The fm-transmitter is something that I use every single day on my way to work. Instead of burning CD's, using BT or Aux. The FM-transmitter is the simplest solution, and it spreads my music across ANY radio in ANY car. Here in Norway we are phasing out the FM network so it can be replaced by DAB in 7-9 years time. Then think of all the FM-cars that would need a phone like the N900 or N8 to keep the noise flowing.I recently bought the N9 because of false advertising by sites like GSMarena claiming there was an transmitter there and only software were needed.I still have 1 week before my refund-guarantee runs out on the N9. If I don't figure anything out on the transmitter, It's being shipped back and N9 becomes my last Nokia phone.
after updating to symbian anna my fm transmitter stops working... i tried to reinnstall the software then also its not working.what should i suppose to do???
Have had my N8 for well over a year now, and made frequent use (almost Daily in the Car) of the FM Transmitter feature, today this appears to have been somehow Disabled, with the widget being removed from the menus, when trying to activate from the menus I get the message 'Feature Not Supported'.
I currently have an N86 which is pretty good as far as i'm concerned. The only things i can fault it on are a rather flaky operating system which tends to crash a bit too often and a very fragile screen cover, but for the most part i can live with these issues.I'm currently due for an upgrade on my contract and would like something that does much the same as the N86 does, but the sticking point is the FM Transmitter function (referred to as "Play by Radio" on some handsets) which i use a lot. Neither Nokia nor any third party seems to produce a list of current handsets which has this functionality built in, perhaps because its use is restricted in some territories and thus varies.
I am a fan of Internet Radio and love the FM transmitter (Play via Radio) built into the N8. The best thing is that one can use both at the same time to transmit an internet radio stream to an FM radio!
One bad day I decided to follow the highlighted Nokia remark urging me to update the Internet Radio software..... I have Anna installed and Anna update 2/2 includes IR version 3.03. The download and installation via Nokia Store went smooth and version 3.04 was up and running soon.
Side-remark 1: how can one see on store.ovi.com which SW version is being offered? I can only see version information using the nokia store app on the phone. Displaying the version in the on-line store would be very helpful!
Side-remark 2: the IR version on offer through the nokia store app is 3.4.0. After installation it states version 3.04..... I found this very confusing. Is this a regular numbering convention for Nokia?
Side-remark 3: did anyone see any differences between 3.03 and 3.04? Both look very much alike! What is the reason for going from 3.03 to 3.04? I do think that 3.03 could be looking a lot better!
With version 3.04 up and running, I decided to start the FM transmitter. The very moment you press the on button the radio stream stops. In the widget for internet radio, the play symbol is now visible. Pressing it to turn the stream back on, the music plays for a fraction of a second before the stream is again stopped. No matter what I tried, I cannot use the FM transmitter together with the Internet Radio 3.04 app.
I searched the internet for the 3.03 version and re-installed it after removing 3.04. Fortunately I can now again run the Internet Radio and the FM transmitter at the same time Is there a solution for this? Why Nokia doesn't test such basic things before releasing the update?
I have just upgraded from nokia maps 2.0 to version 3.0. Prior to this if i had my music playing and the sat nav giving me voice directions over the fm transmitter in my car the music would be stoppped while the voice read out the instruction over the radio speakers, this would then revert to the music playing over the fm transmitter again, oh how perfect it was. Now unfortunatley after upgrading to nokia maps 3.0 when my sat nav decieds to give me verbal instructions all sound is taken from the fm transmitter and comes from the phones internal speaker (not via my car stereo) and to top it all of it doesnt even shut down the music that is playing so i have to try and decipher the sat nav instruction over the music, is anybody else having this problem or is it just me and more to the point how do i fix i
With the old version of maps I believe that when you chose "Walk" it would provide a path though streets and footpaths from Origin to Destination.Today, in central London I wanted to walk just over 1/2 mile (1km) and asked Maps for a route. It provided one - a straight line between start and destination and not suggesting which streets to use &c.What is teh point of a function if it does not calculate the route?
i downloaded the free nokia maps app and i cant use it as i used to ... last time i was able to use it was 3 months ago. i am used to using it as a GPS but since the last update i cant now .... my Nokia is N97 mini and i am verry fond of it
On my 701, having 111.020.307 firmware, after updating maps from 3.06 to 3.08, i am still getting notification to update to a lower version , and wheneva i try to update it, its update application works but nothing works and when i relaunch my store app , the update notification is still there. Anyone can kindly help me with this? oh and my maps app works perfectly normal and flawlessly. or is this a bug that i cannot help fix it?
P.s. I have attached sum screenshots of the process that i do.
I can edit and add names to the sites and places in the Nokia Maps. For example, in the theater of my province listed as "City Theatre", but actually called "Gran Teatro de la Ciudad". I want to edit, add and edit the names as many are wrongly written and other misplaced.
For the past few weeks the Maps program will not connect to the internet. It will bring up the local wifi that is available and say that the connection has failed. But all other uses of the internet are perfectly fine. Tried restarting. Firgured next step is to reinstall the whole thing but wanted to see if there was a solution that comes before that whole bit.
My nokia maps app is not working on my nokia 603 but the nokia drive app is working well This has happened during a failed update to latest nokia maps... .. How to get nokia maps working again?
Restoring the functionality of Maps Check-in. Tried to reflash my N8 with v25.007 with Maps 3.08. After installing Symbian Anna updates, tried to access the Nokia Map's check in settings but resulted to "system error!" Since then the said error is always displayed.
Is there any way to route the voice directions from Ovi Maps to bluetooth headphones?
I tried the other day, with music playing from my N8 through my bluetooth headphones the voice directions were still only coming out of the handset itself!
Not much use if I'm using the satnav whilst riding a bicycle! That was one really useful thing I found about my HTC Desire - it would send the directions via the bluetooth headphones if connected, even if music was playing! It would pause the music, say the directions, then start playing again! Sadly then the battery would die before I reached my destination
Since updating to Belle FP2 yesterday on my 808 Pureview, Maps and all map related apps won't open, they simply close straight away. Tried resetting the settingso n the phone and updating the maps on the Nokia Store. Now I'm stuck. Nokia drive was my second reason for buying the phone after the camera, so I'm a bit distraught lol. I've been making fun of my iOS6 friends the last couple of weeks about their maps and now I feel a bit foolish.
My phone has all of the settings sent by the phone company. It will access the internet no problem by going through the browser. However attempting to click on the preinstalled 'store' and 'maps' button starts the programs which then error 'connection failed' connection unavailable'. Clicking on SW updates gives the same error plus "unable to check for updates. Please try later". I haven't updated my phone - not sure how to now the SW updates won't work. Is it just a case of updating the preinstalled software?
I'm wondering if it would be possible to customize the FM-transmitter for the N86 with RDS, so it also sends the artist and title of the song being played to the FM-receiver used? Now it only sends "Nokia", but that means there must be a function for the "sending part".Had a SonyEricsson W980i before and it had this function. It's not a must, but is really neat when using the FM-transmitter in the car. Nokia doesn't want to be worse than SE, does it?
Nokia X7 brings music, games and videos to life on the massive 4 inches touch screen - sounds good - and I am very interested in this phone, but I can not find any information on an internal FM Transmitter in the manual...
- Has Nokia forgotten about this very very requested feature in this "Big Entertainment" Phone?
- Would the FM trasnmitter Software from C7 work on a X7?
Whenever I run Ovi maps it keep showing me messages saying Memory full close some applications. I cleared history from the browser, moved messages location to mass memory. I checked if I have space on c drive from my laptop I can see that I have 150 MB free out of 276 MB. How I can get rid of this annoying memory full messages?
The latest Nokia Maps update refuses to install either via Nokia Suite or OTA (version 3.8.105) but simply says that something went wrong/isntall failed and doesn't even report an error code. I installed another update for the phone 1 week or so ago and Maps wouldn't connect to a GPS-satellite and thus was unable to navigate but this seems to have corrected itself with the reset. I've tried soft resetting and returning the phone to factory settings but the update still refuses to download and install.
I came to know that we can use OVI Maps in Offline in N900 from the below url http://maemo.nokia.com/n900/tips/maps/. But it asks a connection to proceed and search in OVI Maps doesn't work well. As well the locations are not auto populated. guide me to use OVI Maps effectively in offline in N900.
FYI, I downloaded the required maps in to my N900 using Nokia OVI Suite
How do I remove/uninstall Public Transport and/or Maps Suite from my N8/Belle? Public transport is useless unless you are traveling to those cities - it should be optional to load as are the maps. When I check via Nokia Suite on my PC I can see those apps listed as installed (see pics.). But I CAN NOT see ANY of those in Settings -> Installations -> Already Installed. Is there any other way to remove besides from resetting the phone?
