Nokia Nseries :: N8 Reluctant To Auto-rotate To Landscape After Anna
Sep 19, 2011
Since my fones upgrade to Anna it is now reluctant to auto rotate to landscape view. The settings are correct and the auto-rotate is selected. It will auto-rotate if you give it a good hard shake to the left, and it will easily return to portrait with no problem. I received my upgrade to Anna via my PC and it seems to have fixed a couple of things that were really bugging me. I.e., the sat nav voice commands suddenly stopping for no reason and the safety camera warnings for two. But it seems to have come with it's own bugs.
After PR1.1 the dialer rotates to landscape mode on the N8, but the call screen that comes up after this, is still in portrait mode.
Yet, on the C6, the call screen also rotates to landcape mode with PR1.1 (see screenshot of C6 call screen in landscape mode) Why does the C6 call screeen rotate landscape yet the N8 does not?
I have recently got a xperia z5 and found out that the camera is only in landscape and can't seem to change to auto rotate so can take pictures vertical or landscape. I hope that I don't have to always take pics in landscape.
My n8 was working perfectly with pr1.2 . Then the problem started since i updated to symbian anna , It automatically restarts . I've tried everything i could , reinstall , hard reset , flash firmware , but the problem was still there.
I got a Nokia 5233.2 days ago, I noticed that the Auto Rotate Screen is not working again. It was working fine all the time.I checked the settings, Sensor is activated, and also Auto-rotate screen is checked, but it's not working.
Just got my X6 yesterday and I dont seem to have auto-rotate for my internet browser. Not sure if it's supposed to do it too for texting (it only seems to change when I physically select qwerty keyboard - is that right?) Any ideas please as I cant keep trying to view the web on the narrow screen?
I'm having a problem with my Nokia X7. It does not rotate the screen as it is programmed to do..! I have update it to Symbian Belle in case it will work again but still nothing.!
Everyone is ranting about the auto rotate but I have never got it working on my phone. I read somewhere that it only works with the image gallery but on my E72-1 this is not so. It would be nice is someone pointed me in the right direction.
It isn't natively supported outside the phone, image viewer and browser.if you press CTRL + SHIFT + R on your keyboard then close the keyboard it will turn on/off auto rotate for all apps. Then you can see how BAD some of them look check out the calculator!(press those keys again to turn it back off)
my sons nokia 5530 has just been in for repair as it kept switching off soon as a call was answered (received phone back thurs 15th july ) all seems to be working fine now until he noticed today the auto rotate doesn't work i've checked the settings and the box has been checked also removed the battery for a while to see if it kicks it into touch can anyone shed some light as to why this might be happening before i take the phone back into shop, its not a massive issue but it is a function he likes to use.
As soon as I updated phone to latest firmware, auto rotate stopped working. Previous firmware I had was v21. I made update through Nokia Ovi Suite. I tried several methods to restore auto rotate:
1. restore factory settings (soft reset) 2. unmark auto rotate, restart, mark auto rotate 3. removing battery for few minutes 4. finally tried hard reset
And auto rotate is still not working. Is there anything else that can be done to enable auto rotate again?
My phone will randomly lock in portrait mode. It is not the lock button on the multitask bar, I know iPhones inside and out but I am officially stumped. The orientation is unlocked, but the phone acts as if it is locked. I have tried a power down, power up, and a hard restart.
Iphone4S 5.1: Why can't I get the screen to rotate into landscape mode when entering Apple ID? It rotates while texting, just not when entering Apple ID.And yes, I know where the rotation lock is located...it's unchecked.
When typing a text my screen will not rotate to the landscape position. My screen is unlocked and other applications will rotate (calculator, photos, etc.). This problem began after the last software upgrade.
Since i have a N97 (from about one week) i have a problem that most of the people complain about aaaand there is NO solution to it..i'm with the firmware v 22.0.110 and it wants me to update it to the same firmware (the one i have v 22.0.110) which is pretty much useless. It's a RM-505 type soooo it can't be upgraded more.I've tried it all hard reset, reinstall etc nothing works.
Just got a new N8. Took a video clip and downloaded it to PC. Need to rotate the clip now. It is in MP4 format.Downloading a 3rd party software will be my absolutely last option?
I have discovered that all of the pictures that I take in portrait orientation once emailed to someone they are switched to landscape. The pictures can not be rotated back to the proper orientation with out opening Paint program and rotating them manually. I take hundreds and thousands of pics of my life (kids, vacations etc..) and do not want to have to manipulate them later on once moved to my computer. If you lower the picture quality to 6mp it fixes the problem, also if you shoot the pic in HDR mode. I should not have to do this to make it work. Fail.
- It now takes several seconds to respond to key presses so every feature of the phone is running at a delay.
- SMS messages aren't being received in "real time" and I need to periodically turn the phone on and off again to receive them.
- "Messaging" itself has the largest delay and key-presses are at about a ten second response delay and if for example you select to mark today's messages as "read" then "processing" appears at the bottom of the screen. No matter how long you leave it "processing" it never completes, crashes and closes messaging.
- Having never previously locked up my N8 now does this at least twice a day when trying to answer a call - the touchscreen does not respond to me and the call rings out and eventually goes to voicemail. I run my own business and these are potential customers who my N8 is refusing to answer calls from.
- My N8 will now no longer pair with my bluetooth headset - which it has done for the past year. It's not the headset because I can pair and use it with both my desktop and netbook computers.
- Programs keep crashing and exiting on their own (e.g. Opera browser)
- Other previously working programs now will not start/open/launch at all. (Blackballer - app for rejecting certain callers).
- Other installed programs that have been set to "auto start" now do not auto start and must be launched manually.
I have not installed any "new" software since updating to Anna and all aspects of the phone were working normally before I updated. (I've found the WiFi connectivity temperamental but haven't had the need to used it since updating to Anna).I am presently syncing and backing up my phone using the Ovi suite but I would like to restore my phone to how it was before the Anna update but I'm not really sure which of the options I should choose (factory settings?)I have a class 10 memory card which contains several GB's worth mp3's and camera images - I have opted out of backing up the memory card on Ovi suite. I have installed paid-for apps installed via the Ovi store and I would (of course!) prefer not to lose them in any reset/restore procedure. In a nutshell I do not want to lose my mp3's, camera images (stored on memory card) nor do I want to lose my sms messages or installed paid-for applications.
