My new N8 keeps turning itself off, it hangs shortly after almost any app is started. ovimaps, music, radio transmitter... I don't know what to do about it, it takes some time before it becomes responsive again and I can turn it back on, Is there away to hard reset it? should i do this? i've tried restoring factory settings.. no effect.
I've had my Nokia N95 8GB since 2008 (It's OLD I get it haha) and I've had no problems with it until recently, where it would randomly turn off and then back on, such as when I'm in the middle of writing a text. The most ridiculous incident was when it turned off and on while just lying on the table! There are no software updates available for this old phone
If you encounter the thing that the Nokia N8 won't charge and worst, if the battery was drained and the N8 shutted down and won't charge or power on, try the following steps.
1. Connect the charger supplied with the N8 to other compatible Nokia phones, like E72 like I did.
2. Wait for the other device (E72) to start charging.
3. After it starts charging, remove the charger from it (E72).
4. Now, try to charge the N8 using the supplied charger that you used with the other device previously (E72).
I have been trying to find the reason why it keeps happening and I still can't find out why but i think the battery is not the main problem to it, I think it's the phone.
My N8 turned off and not turning back on.phone's battery was fully charged, earlier today it turned off while i was in the middle of a call. pressed the power button and it turned on normally.a while ago i took it out of my jacket's pocket to find it off. tried the 8 second power push, no use.
My nokia 5530 is not turning on anymore after I turned off the phone. It vibrates when I tried to turn on, but it doesn't show any picture, it is just a black screen. Tried to take memory card out n turning it on, but it didn't work. Taking out the battery and leaving the phone alone for 10 minutes didn't.
my Nokiaa 5800's battery started dying and then it started swelling up (!). I left the phone as usual on my computer table and when I woke up in the morning, the battery was dead and when I plugged in the charger, it started charging. Then after a few hours the phone shut off by itself and didn't turn on, no matter what I did (didn't even turn on when I plugged it into the charger) so I went to the Nokia store and bought a new battery ) exactly like my old one. I put it in but the phone didn't turn on. |I plugged the charger in but the phone still didn't turn on. I took out the memory card and SIM card and tried turning it on but it STILL didn't turn on -___-. I then took out the battery and lightly pushed the copper pins at the bottom (where part of the battery goes into) and then the phone turned on. I put on (or rather, taped back on ), the back cover and the phone turned off. I didn't turn off straight away but in a weird way. You know how, when you update the firmware, then it starts loading (loading bar) horizontally and then the phone screen turns white and some funky colored vertical lines appear? Well, that's what happened and how it turned off.
My "screen saver" is set to none so as soon as i lock the keypad it should black out (maximum battery)... But at the moment its staying illuminated with the battery draining before my eyes!
I got my Nexus 5 on the 2nd of this month. I'm on Android 4.4.4. Just today, I was out and about and I realized that, although I was going into settings and turning Wi-Fi off, it just kept turning it right back on! (I had been using the Wi-Fi at the mall, then later I went to a friend's house and connected to my friend's Wi-Fi, which did not work.) So, I turned on my data, only for it to turn off after I guess about 30 seconds. I turned it back on, went on WhatsApp, in the middle of replying to a text from my friend it goes off yet again! What the... So, I went into settings and turned data on, and Wi-Fi off. As I watched, the Wi-Fi switched itself back on, and, predictably, even though there were no wireless networks to connect to, my data turned off as well.
This is really inconvenient. What could be causing the problem? I don't think I've downloaded any apps recently, but they do sometimes update. It was working fine on Thursday, but I've had my data off since then. I also booted into Safe Mode, and the problem doesn't seem to persist.
I had a contract with Vodafone over 2 years ago and decided on the BlackBerry Storm 9500 handset . After 6 Months of receiving the phone it developed a fault, i have returned it for repairs on a number of occasions and the reoccurring problem has never been solved & fixed . After eighteen months the phone will still not turn on and when it does work it turns off within one hour of it working, i have been to the Vodafone shop in Torquay South Devon and they supplied me with a new battery to try but it still switches itself off . I ave talked to Vodafone and i was told a fault has been found on this particular model of handset. After 24 months of having this contract phone i have now upgraded to a BlackBerry Torch . I would like to return the 9500 handset to get a free full repair or a replacement as i now need to use both phones. This phone has also had problems with freezing and locking up
Is it possible to disable all the telephony functions of the Xperia Ray and still be able to listen to FM radio ? (to improve battery life)
"Plane mode" is unfortunately not an option as it doesn't allow listening to the radio... (whereas it allows you to connect yourself to a Wi-fi network or to receive GPS signals, for instance) Would be great if there was a widget "Enable/Disable GSM networks" or something like that, as there is for other functions... but I couldn't find such a thing.
ive had my n95 for a couple of trouble free years now, until 3 weeks ago i got a txt and tried to read it when my phone just started turning itself on and off with no input from me or ability to stop it, or access any function
given it full charge no change cannot access any function.
removed battery and sin, no joy.
left sim out, no joy.
went to vodafone shop, they said i had to install software from nokia, did that, no joy.
can only stop it from switching on and off by removing battery, can't turn it off with on/off button.
dug out old 6230i and put sim in that, left n95 8gb switched off and on charge for a week got a couple off buttons to beep when 1st switched on, looks like date and time need resetting.
Can't think of anything else, have all my numbers for mates, football and work, diary dates and info and loads of pictures and video clips can't afford to loose any really.
vodafone said that they could send it off to repair shop but i would loose everything and i would have to pay for the privilege.
I just brought a used N96 and I am finding somethings to be really odd with it. When I connect via usb I have no option for PC suite, only mass storage, webcam and com. Wlan will NOT turn on and is spell "Waln" not "Wlan".
I have a new Lumia 900. If I don;t use it for an hour or so it turns off. The ophone has enough battery but requires me to hold the power button for about 6 seconds for it t turn on again...really annoying. how I can turn this feature off ?
My new 6700 Classic turns itself off fairly often. It's especially extremely annoying when I've been on hold for a long time and then have to start all over again during 15 minute wait time or whatever. It's also infuriating when I'm using the navigation and go to look at directions but phone is off and then I have to pull over and wait 5 minutes for it to turn on and find satellite again.Do I have a defective phone or is it possible a firmware update or making sure battery is as tight as possible or any other thing might be the solution? It's a UK phone but I'm in the states and don't think I'd be able to get a warranty replacement.
I cannot find anything in the instruction book that explains how to switch off "Silent" (it is shown beside the battery meter) or what it means (apart from the obvious meaning of the word). If you switch off "Silent" what happens (or doesn't happen)?
the phone keeps restarting itself (it is now up to 5 times a day if not more!!!), and at night it even turns itself off (I mean I wake up in the morning and the phone is off). The other bug is that I cannot exit applications through the "open apps" menu (which is accessed by long-pressing the menu button). When I try to exit an application through there the phone crashes.
I did hard reset, soft reset, formatted E drive (each of those several times btw) and none of this helped. I took it to the nokia care center (the only one in Israel BTW!) and they said that they've never heard of those problems and it shouldn't happen, so they reinstalled my firmware. After that didn't work, I came back to them and they tried reinstalling the firmware again (they thought something maybe went wrong last time) and that didn't work either................
I tried switching on the new nokia X6 that I received today. I get a vibration alert and the red-green button illuminates but the screen is blank! I do hear the Nokia booting sound coming through but the screen is blank. I have been charging for the last 1 hour but I still see no response? Why is this happening? Do I wait longer for it to charge? Pointers please.
A strange thimg happened to my nokia 6120 Classic (i got as a gift in July 2009). Four days ago, the battery was nearly dead, left it, went out for an hour, came back, battery dead, put mobile on charger, an hour later, blank screen (lights for few seconds), left it charging for even te whole day no life, rang it from another mobile, "off" voice mail, tried other batteries, no joy, turned it off and on million times, flicker of bright light for few second which dims gradually over another few second then screen goes off completely. Never really turned out to allow me to do any salvage trial AT.i have no back up, no software on my PC, when connected mobile to PC could not update or download as mobile is always OFF, so it is not recognized by PC.
I live in Australia and got Nokia N97 in december 2009. I used my phone for 1 month and then wanted to do the firmware upgrade (V 2.1) Everything seems to be working fine as everything was being downloaded properly from Nokia website and then, I saw a message saying: "installing updates". After that I saw "Update complete" and my phone was about to restart. However, instead of turning OFF and then turning ON again, it just turned OFF and NEVER turned ON again! I didn't disconnect the USB cable at all during this whole process and didn't make or receive any call as well. When I saw that it didn't turn ON, I waited for 5 minutes and nothing happened.
so I disconnected the USB cable and tried manually to restart my phone but it was not turning ON at all!!!! In fact, when I press the ON button, it just vibrates for half of second (this is normal as you all know) but after that, nothing will be displayed on the screen... no lights.... no music... no sounds.... no light on the keyboard... it's just a dead machine!!!! I removed the battery and SIM card, placed them back and restarted but still nothing at all.... I tried to upgrade firmware again but it is not recognizing the phone as it is OFF! Does anyone have an idea about this whole mess?
ive played around with all the settings, etc. The only lights being displayed on the ld-4w gps module are the green light and the blue light. the gps light is not turning on. it is all paired with the nokie 5530 phone.Ovi maps is installed, all the firmwire is updated.
When i start the application 'Location' (the one thats included with the phone), it says searching for GPS devices. Then it says 'Waiting for gps', then (nearly instantly) it shows 'GPS Not Availible' and exits. After that it displays 'No Connection'.I have tried by going into my back garden and doing this but it still does not work.
However, when I use ovi maps and type in a route, it displays 'Waiting for GPS' for a long time, then it does not connect either, but then it also asks for an internet connection, which i dont have as i dont have any credit on my phone, and i also dont have wireless internet. If this is the problem, then why doesent the gps light on my ld-4w even blink? Please help, i need this GPS module up.
Nokia 5130 XpressMusic doesn't turn on and it says "contact service" (in red font) when i attempt to turn it on. It was working minuet then all of a sudden it just went off. Any help/advice on this situation.
last night a weird thing happened... i was using my phone normally, with 3g turned on, and after a few minutes of browsing through the whats new place in the me hub, the phone just hung... i could not do anything with it. so, i tried turning it off, but din't work. i tried connecting it to the charger, din't work. Finally, i did a hard reset by pressing the lock button for 10 seconds. then after that when i connected the phone to the charger, it turned ON and the nokia logo came up on the screen... nothing happened affter that and it remained like tat for 1 hour. again i did a hard reset, same problem happened. so, i left it to charge all night and still the same thing in the morning... and also a battery symbol with a red line at the bottom is shown before the nokia logo appears.... now i cannot use the phone... what do i do now??
I'm having an odd problem with my Lumia 800, The phone randomly shuts down, it doesn't seem to be related to the power levels as it does it when fully charged. It can go 2 days or 5 minutes before doing this. The odd thing is that to turn it back on I have to plug it into my PC, it comes back on immediately... it does not seem to come on if I plug it into the mains. This is a recent issue it worked for a couple of months without any issues.
I've paired my Lumia 900 with my 2012 Jeep UConnect system but the Bluetooth randomly turns off. Often when I enter the car I must go to Settings and turn on Bluetooth which will then connect correctly. Is this a known problem or do I have a bad phone?
i would like to turn off the SMS preview when i get a message. Is this not possible? i have just bought a lumia 800 nice phone...some really good features.
Recently purchsed my Nokia E72 about 1 month ago. Having purchased and installed Garmin XT for my mobile. The software works well but logs out after 10mins due to the Power Saver kicking in. Does anyone know how I can completely remove the Power Saver? the max time I can set it is only 90 seconds. This is driving me nuts as I really want my GPS to work as it should after 10mins. I have tried to put to backlight on when navigation but makes no difference because the Power Saver would just over ride it.
