One of my home screens on my 700 has a narrower bar that holds 4 or 5 small contact icons. I would like to add this bar to another home screen but can not figure out how to create it nor move it.

Everything is ok in History of calls, it shows the correct names also when im calling or texting, but when I go to Contacts everyone is called (bez nazwy) which means in PL (no name). It happened one day that I noticed all contacts changed to the no name ones, so I tried to format card and phone memory, restore defult settings. After it I cant install Ogi Store on my phone :/ but the error with Contacts came back. Numbers saved on SIM works properly only those on the card memory seems to have no name.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI came to Symbian S60 v.5 and Symbian Anna from Sony Ericsson (UIQ3), and I have found some shortcomings on the Nokia OS. F.i. if I need to open a contact from the call log or sms - I can't see a way to do that with Nokia OS. With UIQ3 this was very easy. In stead I will have to open the contact list and find the contact there. There are still some of us who use the device as a phone, and not an mp3-player or internet browser.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then my Nokia N8 contact list freezes when I try to select a contact fom the list, when starting a call or by accessing the contact list directly. A reboot, factory reset nor firmware reinstalling doesn't solve the problem, it only works temporarily. When the list freezes I am able to swipe through it up and down, though selecting contacts is not possible. I do see a cursor blinking in the lower half of the screen, at the position where the search window normally is. The search window itself is vanished.

At times, I have seen that when I receive a call from the person who is already added in my contact list, the phone is just displaying the number and not the name of the person. When I check the Log, it also displays the number and not the name of the person.
I have imported my contact list from my previous handset (Nokia N70) where it worked absolutely fine. It is quite inconvenient to identify the caller without the name and decide whether to accept or reject during work hours and have at times missed some important calls due to that.
I have a Nokia N95 and when i go to my contacts none of the contacts appear and there is no "options" just "exit". The numbers are still in my simcard or phone as when people call me their name still appears. I just cannot see anyones number.i also tried backing up the files to my computer but d backup came up with read error!i badly need those contacts!

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy old 6820 was about 98% accurate when using the voice tags (that I had recorded to make calls).The N8 has achieved exactly 0% so far. So I've set myself the task of finding out if this can be improved.Do I have to accept the artificial voice tags generated from the contact names? For example, my wife is "Looby Lou", the artificial voice is Stephen Hawking saying "Lobby Loo". So, I tried both "Looby Lou" and "Lobby Loo". I got one "No match found" and one "Ardalanish". This is about the only voice tag that I consider important; it's the call that I'll make if I have a heart attack, or a stroke. I don't want to be put through to a retired farmer in the Hebrides...

I have full addresses in my business contacts, but I can't find a way to "import" a specific contact's address to the navigator. In "set destination" I have to write the address, there is no opion "from contacts". Neither there is an option "Navigate to" in contacts.

View 4 Replies View Relatedive had the Nokia n8 for a year and ive hated every single day of that year...... the nokia n8 is THE most problametic phone ive ever had.... and will be my last ever nokia phone. no matter what i do i get the nokia startup failed contact retailer. yes ive restarted my phone at least 100 times ...... yes i literally restarted my phone 100 times no exagaration.... my phone will start up like usual ..... then after a while it will give me the nokia n8 startup failed contact retailer is there any way to get this fixed without having to reset the whole phone to factory settings??.... ive been able to bypass the startup failed contact retailer by quickly quickly clicking on the small button on the left that then gives me the menu with all my applications but realisticly i shouldn't have to go through all the work to get my phone up...

Now this new one has started and I don't know if it's a bug that I can fix or not, randomly it loses the contact name associations when I open up the text message inbox. It just comes up with the phone numbers, the contacts are still there and when I reset the phone it goes back to normal.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn the N8 user guide page 37 & 38, it is written that we can call/search for a contact by entering the contact first or second name characters by selecting each number key once for each letter but I am unable to do that on my N8.
There isn't any soft key to activate/deactive the "Contact search" under option which is also written on the user guide.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new problem to update with FP2. Suddenly last evening I noticed that all my contacts are showing as unnamed, although their details are intact. Just the names are missing. The whatsapp favorites/contacts list looks fine and the contact search before making a call is also identifying the contacts. The names have disappeared only from the master contacts list. I tried doing the usual restart couple of times.Also did a Nokia sync but the issue hasn't been resolved. I'm worried about restoring the backup lest the problem remains.

Instead, every message is identified by the phone number. So whereas before I could easily id them now its more difficult. Anyone know how I can get the original setting back? Messaging is set to display in groups.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 5800 that I have been troubleshooting for the past Month. We have been to the provider who has now replaced the phone twice in the past two months. Calling out appears to be fine. However when customizing the phone I am unable to set picture and a ringtone to a contact in the contact list. The Contact is saved on the phone. When the person dials in the picture will display correctly but the ringtone will play a default ring not a custom file as selected. This has heppened on all 3 of the phones. I am down to the OS of the phone which the provider says is up to date.

After finishing the call, the screen goes back to main menu.... but the contacts-app sticks active in the background. In order to close that, i have to long-press the button, switch to contacts, and close. Which is a little bit fussily.....
View 4 Replies View RelatedI wonder if anyone can help me. I am using the nokia 5310 and even though I am using a sim card with all my names stored in it, when I get a call or a text from someone who is in my phonebook it still just shows up as a number.
Also the names are not in order in my phone book.I am using this phone in Canada, and I got it from Ireland so the time on my incoming messages is 5 hours behind.So many issues!!
I broke the screen of my 6280 so used a different phone for a while and now that I've repaired it and put the sim card back in the phone displays the number rather than the name in the text inbox. When I try to add the number to the contact it says it's in use for the contact bla bla. The numbers get displayed in the +44 format and are saved in the domestion 07xx format but I can't overwrite it because it then recognises the number.
