just purchased my new phone and tried to use ovi maps but as soon as i went on there it says No internet connection go to tool then go online. So that's what I did and it just went back to the same thing I really don't know how to work it.

I have a Nokia 5230 which I have updated the maps via Ovi suite on my PC,. However when I go to Ovi maps on my phone it always says connection failed, if I try to go to my location I get the red dot flashing searching for position then will go solid for a short while and start to flash again, it gives my location about 1 mile from where I am. Also from the OVI maps screen if I try to sign into my Nokia accost,(To get A-GPS I think) I get the message saying this requires you to go online, 'yes' brings up the connection failed message. I can browse the internet and go to face book etc. With no problems.

The ovi maps app works with my wlan internet at home but when I try to use my 3G optus network internet it says "connection unavailable- please try again"?

I have downloaded and installed the latest Nokia OVI Suite. My phone (E72 - 1, ver 031.023) connects perfectly etc. My problem is that I want to install the latest ovi maps for my phone. Now, according to OVI Suite, my phone has "ALL" maps on it. But I cant see them (when accessing GPS)
Secondly, OVI Suite tells me: your computer is not connected to then internet, when I clearly am. Are there any settings I need to adjust so that the program "Sees" my connection? I've recently installed the latest, free OVI maps for E71 but it still connects to the internet using my t-mobile data connection.I've set the Internet connection to offline, default accesspoint to "search for WLAN" and roaming warning to on. Futhermore synchronisation is set to manual.But it still connects to internet using the t-mobile internet connection and even though it's just a few kilobytes it can cost me money if I'm outside the country.This behaviour is the same as the previous version. I used it in Thailand and downloaded the Thailand map before and set the application to offline. When I wanted to know my position it connected to the internet without even asking.I discovered the connections by accident (looking at the logs) after two weeks and it cost me about 18 euros. Even though no more than 20 Kb per day was sent (and received) by default at least 200 Kb is billed per day if a connection is made.The only way to avoid the connections being made was to set the phone to flight/off-line modus though detection of my position was a lot slower so I suspect the connections are made for a rough position detection using the mobile connection points.Though now I see mainly brief connections out are made they're still connections and I would like to be able to disable it without loosing my main-phone-function (receiving phone calls).

Recently upgraded phone software and maps - everything works fine except when activating Ovi Maps at which point I'm prompted to 'Go online' which when prompted, the phone confirms no internet connection - tools online - and I get the message on screen Internet Usage disabled.Everything else installed on the phone works fine - including all the internet related software, email , facebook etc.Appreciate that others may be having same problem as we carried out same upgrades on second phone in the house last night and Same problem
View 13 Replies View RelatedSo I've just downloaded the new free Ovi Maps for my 5800 and it's pretty nice, except for one thing: even when I set the connection to offline it still connects to the Internet every time the app is started (which, even though the app is fullscreen is visible when, for example you go into the settings screen). It seems though that after a minute or so it disconnects, but still, the old Maps app asked on startup whether to connect, this one just does without asking every time it's started.Am I missing some hidden setting?

View 3 Replies View Relatedi've recently started having problems with ovi maps and it's internet settings. i'm not sure when the problem started but whenever i try to access internet settings (because i want to change my connection from wifi to wap) the program just exits back to the nokia menu however all the other menus work fine. i've made a short video to show you exactly what i mean.

as you can see as soon as i press to access the internet menu it kicks me out, but i can access the navigation tab just fine then i tried to go accross to internet settings and it kicks me out again. i have already tried deleting cities folder and .qf file to no avail. i have also tried to go offline before accessing internet settings which didn't work either. i even installed nokia maps 2.0 which wasn't for this phone but installed just wouldn't work then reinstalled ovi 3 to no avail either!
I have 2 hopefully quick questions here.
1. Can I see what country maps I have downloaded & saved on my N97 anywhere?
2. Whenever I went on the internet with my N95, I had a option how I wished to connect - my netgear router or Mobile web etc.
With N97, It chooses which one I have set on priority, but sometimes I dont want that one. Can I have it so that it asks me everytime I connect like N95?
N97 Ovi Maps wont work after upgraded software Phone software and maps upgrade when Maps selected first prompted to ˜Go online confirms No internet connection and to go tools, go online etc . When go on line selected message on screen confirms ˜Internet Usage disabled every other internet connection works, email ,face book etc and another N97 within the household which was upgraded yesterday also has same problem

I have a N85 Navi which I bought less than a year ago. I updated this week the maps and the application (latest version)and added one voice for the navigation. After this update when I open the Maps and select Settings and Navigation (to change i.e. voice), Maps closes automatically without any error messages. I can open all the other settings sub-menus. Any ideas why this is happening? Do I have the to re-install the application, maps and voices?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Nokia Maps 3.03 on my E71 (language: German) plus Nokia Map Loader 3.0, but I am experiencing several problems: Nokia Maps goes online via Internet for a few seconds (which costs me) although I set it to my Wireless connection. How can I switch that off? Every time I load a new map (and voices) via Map Loader and then start the software on my E71, it tells me that the maps are out-dated and I need to delete them. But then I do not see any maps in the software, and also the load of the voice is gone.

I have a problem with my Maps Application. Firstly I only have 9 icons on the Maps display page instead of the 10 that is shown on the Nokia website, I have found I do not have the Michelin guides........any ideas why?
I cannot download the Here and Now 2.0, it states that the Installation failed and have tried many times to reinstall it. Does this have anything to do with the missing Michelin Guide icon not being there?
I updated today to Maps 3.01. (To be noted that Ovi Suite still considers there is a new version of Maps available and would download and install 3.01 again any times I click on update.) When starting Maps the load screen with progress bar appears, then I can see an "empty" map. No keys work. After a few seconds (around 10 or so) the phone restarts.I deleted Cities folder and the file QF, rebooted, reinstalled etc. nothing helps.

Upon completion of the update, when i checked maps that are available in my device,Instead of new updated maps, there is only 1 map left which is Hong Kong and Macau, and i don't live in either one of it. 1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
About a month ago I bought the Nokia 5800 as I wanted the free Sat Nav, I have version 3.01 on the phone, when I phoned Nokia about something else I asked them about version 3.03 and they told me I could not install this until I had used all the days of my 10 free trial, then I was to ring them again and they would help install it for me, after 55 minutes on the phone we had no joy, so I decided to try myself and did it first time. Now the question I need answered with your help is, I am going to Italy in June and when I open the GPS (offline) it works fine in the UK where I live, and when I input the town Pisa, Italy it finds it on the maps, does this mean that the Sat Nav will work in Italy or is this just a map?
When you download version 3.03 does it download all the maps?Also is there anyway I can find out which maps I have on the phone?

If i try to upgrade it with the old Nokia map updater it just says: Cannot get enough information about the phone unspecified error. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? I also get a error message when i try to use this file that ovikovi posted (http://static.s2g.gate5.de/nokiamaps client/nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis). The error message that shows up in the phone is: It doesn’t work to install this file, the unit is built in! And in Ovi Suite it says: The file is in use. Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
After opening Ovi Maps, and going to any function. The software/program, shuts itself down before I can proceed to 'my position', 'drive', or even 'walk'. I cannot even seacrh or go to settings.
