with my N86 8MP it is not possible to navigate in my car. It only receives enough signal to find the GPS position in an outside space, with no trees. Is the GPS receiver broken, or is this just normal behaviour?
Recently, I began to have this problem where the phone is showing full signal but the phone is actually not receiving any signal. So calls will not come in at all.
I live in a poor reception area on the Rogers network. I've noticed that when I go into the basement the phone drops a signal pretty quickly. I am okay with this and is expected. My issue is when I get back on to the main floor, the phone does not pick up a signal again for a long time. Sometimes even toggling airplane mode doesn't work. My wife's iPhone does the same thing.
What do these Icons represent or mean, and the meaning when they change Colors from White to Blue (Status Icons). There was a GB 2.3.4 User Manual Posted on Moto's site, Unfortunately no information was included about these Items. What does it mean when all three are blue, Including the H+ icon having arrows beneath it at the same time? Is it also Possible to have the Intro Video Posted or embedded to this thread as well please.
Anyone else experience this? I did th sotware upgrade and a few hours later this happened. I tried manually connecting to the network and it wont. T-mobile asked me to send the phone back but there is a major scratch on the screen so they told me my return warranty was void now.So far I have a $400 paper weight. Anyone fix this issue?
I've had this twice now where I couldn't get a GPS signal. This never happened on my Droid 1, but has happened twice in less than 30 days (two different phones - since I replaced the first one when this happened). This has been in 2 completely different locations.
I was wondering if anyone knows what algorithm is used for the signal bars on the Photon 4G. I have found that there seems to be no correlation between the signal strength (in dBm / asu) in Settings -> About phone -> Status and the signal bars that are shown. Often the signal bars will shoot from 1 to 5 or 6 even with really low signal ( ~97 to > 100 dBm) that doesn't fluctuate.
I'm in China at the moment and having problem getting a GPS signal. The signal indicator is permanently flashing yellow which presumably means it is trying to find a signal. Here are the facts: 1. Using Nokia Maps v3.03
2. Using prepaid China Unicom carrier (if that is relevant)
3. Have turned on all four position methods including Assisted GPS
4. GPS was working until recently (about 3 days ago). I revisited parts of Shanghai previously located fine on GPS, now unable. In Beijing at the moment and still flashing yellow.
5. It used to take about 5 minutes to get a signal from scratch (no external positioning server used as no 3G data provided on prepaid plan).
6. On the left of the signal bar is a picture of a satellite dish and two hooked lines. There is a line crossed through these two hooked lines that looks sort of like this: ≠What does this mean? (I think this is most likely the cause of my problem).
What I have tried so far (and obviously failed):
1. Leaving phone in my pocket for hours on end to pick up signal.
2. Deleting and reinstalling 3.03.
3. Installing Beta 3.04 then reverting back to 3.03 after that didn't work.
4. Every single permutation of position server and method in desperation.
About two weeks ago I had bought 2 N97 sphones, one for me and mini-one for my wife (yes I know lack of imagination)... Everything went just fine (after an software upgrade) but my smile went out when I was playing with gps signal: no more than 3-4 satellites, even on clear sky in the middle of the park (unsurrounded by buildings, trees or anything that may obstruct a gps signal). Being a new phone I thought it can be fixed by warranty but shock, they declinde any responsibility saying "It is nothing wrong with my phone so nothing to be fixed"...
the n97 like I have first I did not have signal and then phone just keep freezes I sent the phone for repair by vodafone got it back the battery last for a couple hours and then I can not read text massages I have turn phone off & on three or four times read massages Vodafone told me to buy a new battery they pay for the battery I bought the battery from a imprinted mobile phone repair shop they told me n97 has a lot of problems but put the new battery has not made no difference
I lost network coverage signal 3 days back, the sim well working in other mobile. I did soft/hard reset etc but no success. Upaded latest software even. Went to Nokia Care centre, they were also not able to repair it.
I updated ovi maps and after update i can't get gps signal. On new ovi maps i can't find where i can search place by adress and anywhays i dont like that new one is there any whay i can get old one?
I used to have Maps 2 on my phone until very recently however I upgraded to Maps 3 over the Christmas period, this was working fine while I was in the UK. I have since travelled to Russia (in Moscow) and have had nothing but problems. First of all I am not able to get a GPS signal although when I was here before Christmas (Maps 2) it was working fine. When I start maps I go on line and also have my position set by Network this does not work either. I have done the following since without sucess.
1) I have connected my phone to the computer in Mass storage mode and removed the folder'Cities' and the qf file as stated in the help file. 2) I have reloaded the phone software to my phone. 3) I have reloaded Maps 3 on my phone. 4) I have loaded the Map of Russia on my phone (which takes a good 6 hours due to my company firewall) 5) After this has loaded I have tried my maps on the phone and can see down to street level but my position is not indicated either by GPS or the network (network MTS Vodafone Partner). 6) When the map has loaded from the computer to the phone I can see the map on my phone using the OVI Pc Suite. 7) If I remove my phone from the computer and then reconnect it the OVI Pc Suite says there are no maps on my device. 8) I downloaded Albania and also cyprus before loading Russia again, whilst still connected to my computer I can see all 3 of these maps but if i disconect and connect again it says no maps are on my phone.
I have spent the last 5 days trying to get this to work without sucess. As I am currently working here in Russia this device is invaluable to me but at the moment it is not providing much use apart from taking up my companies bandwith with downloads. I think I posted this on the wrong board earlier, Since then I have downloaded the UK map and this time after it downloaded I could see it in the OVI Pc Suite, I opened maps on the phone while still connected to the computer and after I closed it OVI Suite said there where no Maps on my device although there are. I am still not getting a GPS signal I even left the phone on the window sill for one whole night with no obstructions and still never got a GPS signal.
I bought a new n86 a few days ago but I found that the signal recertion is really very very low in some places compared to a nokia n70.At the time an n70 (or many other phones) has 7 bars , an n86 has NO bars (out of network coverage)That's a very frustrating problem, Can this problem be fixed? Is this a hardware or a software issue? Can the Nokia care find a solution to this problem?
Does anyone have low or no signal with the Nokia N97? After updating to v21 I have had no network or very low signal. Waiting for v30 to come out to see if that will fix it. I'm from South Africa.
I had Light Signal Plus for my 5800 (which was great) but it when I try to install it on my N97 it says Certificate Expired. How can I get it to work on the N97 or is there another product? The standard notification lights are useless.
I upgraded to the N97 a couple of months ago and have become more and more frustrated with the very weak phone signal I get with this handset, with calls often dropping out. I am on the latest software version etc.Now I have searched through the other discussions on this site and have found a stack of discussions about others who have experienced / are experiencing the same problem. What I would like to know is does anyone know if there is a fix or solution for this yet?I really don't think I can manage another 12 months or so before I my next upgrade, and my provider won't do anything for me.
I have nokia 5800 bought in May 2009, and 3G signal is not being detected at all by the phone. If i keep the same SIM card on black berry 9500 or sony ericsson it showed me 3G signal properly.
I have a network problem with my nokia 5800 XM , i get no signal at all ..i go to settings - connection - network , and tried to choose network manualy (instead automaticly) but it cant, there is always the same message - no access..i bought this cellphone 6 months ago and i like it very much , so i want to continiue with using it..
My nokia X6 16Gb was working fine for few weeks. today, after i fully charge the the phone, realize the phone with no network signal. i had confirm my simcard work fine in another phone.
I have a Nokia N8, and since a few months back it cannot find any 3G-signal. (it worked okay in may-june)when I try the SIM-card in my other phone (Nokia E52) it finds the 3G-signal directly without any problem. The settings is of course set to 3G, but I only get a 3g-symbol which is cross-out and no signal bar at the side. I have also tried dual mode but then it only finds the GSM-signal.
i have problem with my E72 and gps signal. Before it worked ok, now i dont know what is the problem. It looses "fix" every few seconds even in the open sky. I switch phone off and on. And it fixes for a few seconds, but it loses fix quickly. i dont know what is the problem. I use sports tracker and google maps, and the same thing in both programs. I have everyhing turned to on in "positioning methods" (exept external gps): A-gps, integrated gps, WiFi/Network, Network based..........
I use my 6720c for GPS navigation. But no matter if I use A-GPS or not, finding a signal within Nokia Maps or the GPS utilities takes *at least* 10 minutes. Is this normal? If not, what am I doing wrong? Is there maybe any GPS-fix (i.e. pre-calced sat coordinates) or do I miss a setting for better performance? My software version is 12.x.
I wonder if anyone can clarify the following:- My N97 is due to have the complete back assembly replaced due to bad GPS reception (been on order for 4 weeks but due to be delivered this week). I have read on other forums that a piece of foam is also fitted at the same time which shields the GPS receiver from interference from the main circuit board? The NSC technician has not heard of the foam so has not ordered it. My question is :- does the N97 still need the foam or is this foam now incorporated within the new back assembly.
I've got a N97 mini and notice that I keep losing the signal. I can be sat there, the phone won't move and yet I'll go from 4 bars to virtually one/none at all. I had a similar problem with another N series and apparently it was to do with the internal antenna.......I'm sure its not the network as was on 3 before changing over to O2 and had same issues ! Also does anyone know if the CR 116 will fit the mini as well ?
