Nokia :: N79 With Built-in GPS / GPS Usage Not Free
Mar 24, 2010
i find it weird that the device sells telling the market that N79 has a built-in GPS receiver (adding to the price of the device). but in order to use it, it would have to be bought separately. what's the point of selling a device that comes with a certain feature when that feature can't be used as is.?or am i mistaken and that it is actually free.
I got a new SAMSUNG Galaxy S6 and in it I am having some essential apps only. Bthe RAM is always been used more than 85%. why it is so and how can I freeup more ram?
So I was in a rush to sync my iPhone to the computer and i accidentally restored my iPhone to my iPod, now my iPhone only has 6g storage. How do I restore it back to my phone
When in 'My Position' mode, the map moves to follow you as you move, however, it does not rotate. Is this due to the 5800's lack of a built in compass? If not, how can I enable this? Pressing the compass icon achieves nothing. Is there a way to manually rotate the map? Again, messing about with the compass icon has no yieled results. In navigation mode, when a route has been set, your current speed is shown, along with warnings when you go too fast, along with speed camera information. Is there anyway to activate these features without setting a route? I'd like these features when I'm out on a random drive, and have not decided a destination. E.g. having them in 'My Position' mode. Also, I do not have a data package, and so have A-GPS disabled, in Locations -> Positioning settings under applications, and have only integrated GPS activated. I've been wondering whether there is a charge for Network Positioning though? It seems as if all it does it find the mast you're connected to.
I'm experiencing a problem with the built-in e-mail client (NOT nokia e-mail) on my Nokia X6. When I try to Connect to my Gmail-Inbox (IMAP), it begins to trigger a connection. But just when it is connected the phone disconnects and the two arrows on the tab disappear.Does any one have the same problem? Nokia E-Mail isn't a suitable alternative for me.
My cellphone E63 does not have any in built games. However other nokia models are having at least 1 in built game.I want to use any game of those for my cell.I have downloaded some games from OVI. But all games give me pop ups during the game and those games are not worth playing. I mean nokia games quality is high. kindly provide me some free games with no popups inside.
I've just purchased a new phone case which has a magnetic catch for my N97. I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem, but when I attempt to use the compass in Nokia maps with my phone in it's case, it appears that the compass doesn't go green after attempting to calibrate it many times, but rather stays red. When I take it out of the case it is able to work after hardly any attempts at calibrating, I think it may be due to the case which has a magnet in it, I've also heard that it can cause the phone to think the back camera is open, if that makes sense, although I haven't encountered this problem yet. I was wondering if there may be long-term damage.
I really miss the built in smileys in sms.. And the sms/mms counter? :/ Is there any way to get the counter back, or example on softwares i can donwload?
Hi! Does anyone know of a way to get voicemail recorded directly on the phone? Say somebody calls you and your phone is on but you don't answer, the phone records the message to the memory? I know my old Sanyo phone could do it, but can the Nokia 6275i or any phone for that matter? Thanks!
My husband and I both have the iPhone 3GS. My husband's phone however will count on the phones data usage 20mb over night while it is charging and on our wifi. it is counting this towards his 3g usage and not wifi. We have already had APPLE reset everything at the store. it is still doing it. so he has to turn off all cellualar data usage at night or it keeps racking up the usage even though it is on our wifi. I plug my phone in at night as well and mine is not doing this
Haveing seen the explosion of threds about the iphone signal problem I cant help notice the amount of people willing to apcept a free bumper! are people out there heads?
Its a flaw at the end of the day and if apple admit to it will people find it that hard to give up there phone and apcept a free bumper? do we get free screws with the next purchase?
Does anyone have a nokia phone from years back with expess on covers? think the its the 3210 i had I lost the back and if you caught the little metal strip antenna with your hand it killed the signal and droped the call!
Is this whats happening here? It seems the more I read the threds this could be happening with the iphone 4!?
I use my Nokia phone camera a lot like taking pictures of furnitures, tools, appliances, and other items that I want to know the dimensions (measurements in inches or metric) of to study the pictured items at home. Sometime I carry with me a tape measure and I lay it along the lenght and/r height of the item just to get a rough measurement of the item's dimension. Is it possible for Nokia to develop a camera with a built-in measuring tape that shows up in the pictures taken? The measuring tape should be able to adjust to the distance between the camera and the object so that the actual dimension of the object is measured accurately. If I take a picture of crawling snake from 20 feet away the picture taken should be able to show the actual lenght of the snake.
Most of time I'm using my Nokia 5800xm (about 12hours per day). I mean I'm living with my phone. so i wanna know any risk of using? will my usage harm to my phone. but I'm using it very carefully.
how to minimize the usage of nokia c5 RAM.Ofcourse ram store when there is a program in runing state. But when i make off all the processes it still shows 80% usage. How to resolve it.
I want to Clear my mobile RAM from unwanted usage (chicked in nokia Energy pro.). Before running some programe the software shows 64 to 68 MB (Switch off and switch on). After running some program, that Energy pro. Shows 82 to 86 MB. Now my problem is, after closing that application the Energy Pro. shows 74 to 76 MB. Why is this memory occupied over there? How can i clear this memory? (pls avoid to say switch off switch on mobile.) Thanks in advance.
Any option for checking internet data usage? Any apps available for that?I am indian postpaid user so in postpaid connection i can't check the data usage
As the heading states we have an N8 in the office (one of about 5) which exhibits a very strange symptom. After the first few days of having terrible battery life, even when doing very little with the phone, we tracked down the error to something which happens when keylock gets activated the first time after starting the phone. Using Nokia Energy profiler, we've found out that as soon as keylock is activated the CPU usage goes to 100% and never comes down afterwards, except when turning phone off and on again. Done factory resets (via phone meny, Restore and Delete data) and this problem shows up even when installing only the most basic apps - last time it appeared after installing swype, so now resetting and installing nothing.
I have been using N97 mini since more than a year now. Till yesterday it was functioning OK but today after full recharge it battery got drained in 5 hours without any usage !! I noticed the phone is getting too hot without any usage. I recharged it againg and same thing happened again. I tried to switch if off for few hours and took out the battery from phone but it didn't help. I am using latest firmware.
Recently upgraded phone software and maps - everything works fine except when activating Ovi Maps at which point I'm prompted to 'Go online' which when prompted, the phone confirms no internet connection - tools online - and I get the message on screen Internet Usage disabled.Everything else installed on the phone works fine - including all the internet related software, email , facebook etc.Appreciate that others may be having same problem as we carried out same upgrades on second phone in the house last night and Same problem
I've bought a SIM-free S2 from Amazon but, upon reading up on the 4.0 software update I've learnt about the 'CSC' code. Apparently Sim-free phone should have XED or something similar.
I have Nokia 500 Belle. Listening to built in internet radio fills phone's C: memory with no apparent reason (No any messages, no email, no installed apps, to prevent stamp answers that suggest to remove apps and messages). After about 10-15 minutes browsing and listening stations memory is decreased by about 10 MB's. I used X-plore to see, what can i do and what to delete but there's nothing to delete. Probably the Private or Sys folders are filled with some kind of junk but obviously there is no access to these... I had about 130 MB free on C: and after using Internet radio it was decreased to below 120 MB. I did very little listening next day and after that memory was left to 114 MB. What if it will eventually fill completely? It was a problem on Nokia E52 and Nokia 500 Anna.
Internet is full of complaints about Nokia phones memory usage. But no any reasonable solution. All what i can find are typical stamp answers that suggests to remove apps and messages and so on... Few months ago my E52 ran out of memory, though i hadn't installed any apps on C: and all messages were also on memory card. Even deleting browser cache (using x-plore) did not help.
Do my media messages result in data usage because my internet/MMS apn is not added? I honestly have no idea what those are, but I thought that my WiFi/unlimited texting plan would cover my media messages. However, I have to enable my cellular data to send/receive such messages. If the only way for me to send picture and video messages is through using my cellular data, it feels like a waste
N97 Ovi Maps wont work after upgraded software Phone software and maps upgrade when Maps selected first prompted to ˜Go online confirms No internet connection and to go tools, go online etc . When go on line selected message on screen confirms ˜Internet Usage disabled every other internet connection works, email ,face book etc and another N97 within the household which was upgraded yesterday also has same problem
I have the X6 16gb with virgin and pay £15 per month which gives me 200mins and ultd text. I then travelled to France using the Sat Nav and came back to a bill of around £6 for usinng the Sat Nav and have been charged when ever i use it, virgin have told me to contact Nokia as using the Sat Nav i was charged for GPS usuage (pardon my ignorance but does a sat nav not run of GPS), I have finally spoken to somone at Nokai and they are now telling me the free aspect of the Sat Nav is the application and licence and for data transfer via GPS i will be charged for this via virgin.
I am not willing to pay £5 pm for this from virgin as I genuinely belived i bought a phone with a sat nav not some elctronic maps.
Ovi map 3.03 for S60 V3.1 with free navigation has been released on China's Nokia official website..When I select E72 and click on the "download" button, the file name is "nokia_ maps_ 3[1]. 03_ 10wk11_ b04_ s60_ 3.1_ rom_china.NOCS.sis", which is totally different from the file downloaded from Nokia Europe.I successfully installed it in my E71 and it automatically became English UI. I test the navigation for walk or drive, it's completely free of charges. You just need to download the map and voice with map loader.Don't be confused by the file name.It will automatically adapt the language on your phone!!
