Nokia Nseries :: Symbian Internet Radio And C: Memory Usage?
Feb 25, 2012
I have Nokia 500 Belle. Listening to built in internet radio fills phone's C: memory with no apparent reason (No any messages, no email, no installed apps, to prevent stamp answers that suggest to remove apps and messages). After about 10-15 minutes browsing and listening stations memory is decreased by about 10 MB's. I used X-plore to see, what can i do and what to delete but there's nothing to delete. Probably the Private or Sys folders are filled with some kind of junk but obviously there is no access to these... I had about 130 MB free on C: and after using Internet radio it was decreased to below 120 MB. I did very little listening next day and after that memory was left to 114 MB. What if it will eventually fill completely? It was a problem on Nokia E52 and Nokia 500 Anna.
Internet is full of complaints about Nokia phones memory usage. But no any reasonable solution. All what i can find are typical stamp answers that suggests to remove apps and messages and so on... Few months ago my E52 ran out of memory, though i hadn't installed any apps on C: and all messages were also on memory card. Even deleting browser cache (using x-plore) did not help.
after i had upgrade my N8 from anna to belle i discover that the memory card is locked maybe i would have to read first about all before i upgrade but any way i didnt,so i try to find a way to unlock my memory card with out formatting, coz i got important media on itso can i find a way to do that ?
I am a fan of Internet Radio and love the FM transmitter (Play via Radio) built into the N8. The best thing is that one can use both at the same time to transmit an internet radio stream to an FM radio!
One bad day I decided to follow the highlighted Nokia remark urging me to update the Internet Radio software..... I have Anna installed and Anna update 2/2 includes IR version 3.03. The download and installation via Nokia Store went smooth and version 3.04 was up and running soon.
Side-remark 1: how can one see on store.ovi.com which SW version is being offered? I can only see version information using the nokia store app on the phone. Displaying the version in the on-line store would be very helpful!
Side-remark 2: the IR version on offer through the nokia store app is 3.4.0. After installation it states version 3.04..... I found this very confusing. Is this a regular numbering convention for Nokia?
Side-remark 3: did anyone see any differences between 3.03 and 3.04? Both look very much alike! What is the reason for going from 3.03 to 3.04? I do think that 3.03 could be looking a lot better!
With version 3.04 up and running, I decided to start the FM transmitter. The very moment you press the on button the radio stream stops. In the widget for internet radio, the play symbol is now visible. Pressing it to turn the stream back on, the music plays for a fraction of a second before the stream is again stopped. No matter what I tried, I cannot use the FM transmitter together with the Internet Radio 3.04 app.
I searched the internet for the 3.03 version and re-installed it after removing 3.04. Fortunately I can now again run the Internet Radio and the FM transmitter at the same time Is there a solution for this? Why Nokia doesn't test such basic things before releasing the update?
Why there is no track and artist name display on the main screen of internet radio ?I had that on my old NOKIA 6710 and even with ahistory of last tracks. I guess it also worked in Anna , but not in Belle.
I just started using Internet Radio this week. Tonight I was picking a station on my favorites list and hit cancel while it was loading, since then no stations will load, they have quick timeout errors. I tried unistalling Internet Radio and reinstalling but this does not work. It seems something is hung up or frozen somewhere. If I click on genres same thing, nothing loads, but if I "Go to Station" and type in the web address it plays, but I dont have the thousand of lists of radion stations to view anymore.
I downloaded the Symbian Anna and honestly, it's not as great as it's been made out to be!Now I want to revert to the earlier S3 version and am unable to do so! What can be done to regain the old version of the OS?
I tried a Restore to factory settings from the phone, but it just goes back to factory settings with ANNA, how do I change the OS back to the earlier one?
I contacted TuneIn asking if would be making a Symbian app. The following is the answer I got."Hello HenrikThank you for contacting us regarding this issue. The Symbian app has been made already, but we are waiting for them to release an OS that can handle TuneIn and other media rich apps.Sincerely,DerekTuneIn" Were they waiting for Anna? Are they waiting for Belle? Why is Symbian the only OS that doesn't support TuneIn?
At the moment I'm on 22.014! I've been checking for updates OTA for a few weeks just for kicks. I checked through Nokia Suite today and there is this 25.007 update. Only problem is it's not the 1MB update I keep reading about! This is a 1.3GB update!Did I miss a couple updates that somehow added up (big time)? Is this normal? Is it safe to update?
i recently installed viber on my nokia x7 running symbian belle os. But when i started it i came to know that it doesn't have a calling option unlike android and ios phones. This is utter disappointment for me and i think for many nokia users. I would like to know will there be any updation regarding viber app in the coming or i should uninstall it because it is of no use if it does not have a calling option.
Now I know this is a simple question but I figure most people are pretty switched on in this forum so should be able to help me quite easily.I have a Nokia 5500 sport with symbian S60 I believe running on it. Now the OS is horribly slow at loading the alarm clock and contacts, takes 6 seconds for the alarm and maybe 2-3 for the contacts. If I open the alarms, then the main menu and click alarms again, it loads instantly. I imagine this is because I never pressed exit and it was still resident in memory. Now I do not run many apps, basically just the essential stuff like SMS, contacts, alarms and contacts, I imagine all of these apps would fit in memory at once quite easily, is there an option to force apps to stay resident? Or perhaps instead of having 'exit' change the button to be 'home' so that they stay running in the background?I'm sure what I want to do is possible, I am just not sure how to do.
I still can´t install new Symbian ANNA, my Ovi Suite and N8 still writte "No updates available". I tried every option, which is avaible for update, but answer is still the same :"No updates availeble"
Will all Symbian 3 devices get Microsoft apps as promised in [URL]"Microsoft Apps will be delivered via software update over the air or via PC download and will function on the Nokia N8, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia E7, Nokia E6, Nokia X7, Nokia 700, Nokia 701, Nokia 600 and Nokia Oro. "
Last week, we upgraded my Nokia N8 to Symbian Anna. Now, I experienced one large and one smaller problem:1. Large problem: When connecting the phone (via USB cable) to my notebook (Suse Linux 11.2), it is no longer recognized as a mass storage drive (USB stick), but only the camera is recognized (pptp protocol), i.e., the notebook asks, if I want to copy the photos, but does not find access to all other files. (Before upgrading, this problem did not exist!)
2. Smaller problem: When taking photos, one can add a description (under "details").This works, but not as good as before: the number of characters for the description is drastically reduced. and what is worse: all older descriptions have been truncated and are hardly of any use any more.
Is update for Belle FP1 available now for N8? I heard somewhere that it will be released in June 2012. There's already a video about N8 having the FP1 update. I tried updating thru Nokia Suite but its taking a veryy long time just to check for update, i think its past 1 hr already. is there an alternative way to upgrade? we have no wifi here so i cant update thru my N8.Updating thru Nokia suite is becoming a pain. i dont know why its taking so effin long. its not downloading yet its just on checking status.
im planning to buy nokia 500, but im still curious if this model can able to upgrade symbian belle since it's OS is anna.Nokia user since 2004.Owned 3310, 1100, 3300, 6600, 6300, 5310, 5130, N79, 5800.Owns: 6230 (still alive) and 500....
i have nokia 701 from a few days. I found some bugs 1. Mails for exchange didn't work ... same as here /t5/Messaging-Email-Browsing-and/Symbian-Anna-Mail-for-Exchange-not-working-on-Exchange-running/td-p... - there is now reasonable decision! I have Nokia N82 there is no problems with receiving e-mails from my company exchange server.
2. After complete backup of the phone on the memory card it shows System Error Message.
How to download any torrent on Symbian Belle? I got SymTorrent but when I add torrent file the application is crash. I need torrent on my phone. Nokia 500
My previous phone was an android phone, and whenever I put it to sleep, whenever I wake it up again, it asks for the Security PIN I set. How can I have this feature on Belle?
This is an interesting device, however besides having to have a seperate application for Wifi Hotspot, I am wondering if the so-called "application" for SIP VoIP calls, as per older handsets will in fact work or would it need upgrading.
can we have a utility which can sort of support any application designed for symbian/wp7.5/android/ios as the new apps being developed do not support symbian much e.g. angry bird's the new application would enable usage of the other apps in any nokia phone symbian/wp7/meego etc and people can't complain that nokia phones dont have apps.e.g. angry bird space?vonage app for making calls?Internet - not that symbian doesnt have it the streaming is better in other os...
