I haven't receive any update notifications about lumia 920 since I bought this one for almost a month checked the web, it says reset might help to improve it so I want to know if reset causes loss of content for the phone or it is just for reboot
View 1 RepliesI tried converting several lossless FLAC files (192/24) to a lossless WMA (96/24) to listen to on Lumia 920. The conversion went fine and I checked the resulting files by playing them on the computer. They played fine as expected (no difference from the original). However transferred on a 920 those started to exhibit quantization noise and somewhat degraded sound. I don't have extraordinary expectations for the audio hardware in a phone but at times it was very noticeable - the part where a song fades into silence at its end and has prominent quantization noise (intermittent quick patches of noise/faint sound and silence) is a prime example. If the files were played back at 24 bit resolution that wouldn't have happened for sure. Also, perhaps, that wouldn't be noticeable much if there were proper ditering algorithms in place. None of this appears to be happening inside the Lumia's music player or hardware.

I tried to plug it up to my computer but I got nothing there either. I am getting no indication that its charging and I'm starting to think I'm out of options. Is there anything else I can try? This just basically happened out of the blue, I turned it off and now it doesn't want to come back on at all...
View 8 Replies View RelatedTwice recently it has happened to me that I have completely lost pictures when reframing with the Nokia Camera app.The following has happened:
I opened a photo from the camera roll in Nokia Camera, reframed it, clicked save. As usual, the progress bar indicates that the app is working, but then an error message appears, saying nothing except "an error occured. Please try again later", and then the photo is gone.
When looking at the camera roll folder on the computer, one sees that the 5MP photo file has a size of 0 bytes, and the highres file has vanished completely from the phone.
if i do a hard full reset will that reset eveything including the first hotmail live account i put in on the first day of activation because im not living in the same country anymore and want to start a new zune/marketplace account to buy apps i have no problem with hard reset IF It will work?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust bought the device and I'm not sure because of teh missing SD card, how to handle my "best practises" for Samsung devices. Originally I stored music, videos, Whatsapp media, Titanium backups and so on on my external memory card. But this option is now gone. Is there any way to create a new partition as external sd card wich is recognized by apps and is not affected by hard resets (which is mostly necessary for custom rom updates) ? I don't want to get in a copy nightmare for every ROM update which requires a full wipe. Is tehre any solution? I can't be the only one who is thinking about this issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I went running with my Lumia 1020 listening to music and using the Runtastic app. The music stopped - I looked at the phone - it was turned off. I tried powering on, but to no avail. I should also mention that upon leaving, the battery was fully charged and this happened after some 20 minutes. When I came home, I immediately put the phone on the wall charger and expected it to power on after a while. I checked it after 3 hours and nothing, the phone was still stone-dead and what was even more worrying, completely cold - no heat-up from charging.
I tried connecting it to my PC - the computer didn't even recognize ANY device was connected to it. Just to be sure, I tried Nokia Software Recovery Tool, but sure enough, it was not able to detect the phone. The phone seems to be dead meat now, but when I put it on my desk wireless charging stand, the stand's indicator lights up, although the phone does nothing and stays that way.
Each time I restart my phone, it loses the current date and time and set's it to some apparent random day. This last time it chose the 16th of May 2012.
I took delivery of it yesterday and it's been fully charged. I've set the Date+time to 'Set Automatically' to 'On'
during windows update today my 950 XL turned off (full battery). When I started it again it goes through boot process and starts with rotating gears (I guess it is installing update) but 2 seconds after i get sad face icon.
I tried to hard reset it holding power and vol down keys but it is never reaching the "exclamation mark" point. It just loops... I installed recovery tool on my PC but it is not recognizing the phone. Restarted PC - the same situation.
I just got a nokia 1520 and it won't complete a factory reset. It gets about 30% through then stalls and resets and goes through the process again. Eventually, I get a sad face and it shuts down.

There are apps all over the place and I would like to set up a new Windows live account for my wife while at the same time returning the phone to its original factory state.There is nothing on the phone that I need other than contacts which I stored earlier onto the SIM.
If I do a hard reset will the phone return to its previous Vodaphone set up?If so will I have to get the phone unlocked again to be able to use the Virgin Mobile network?
Loaded DP 8.1 on my Nokia Icon last week. I like the expanded feature set, but it has become increasingly buggy (wifi/bluetooth issues, etc.). I want to do a hard reset, since I would prefer not to wipe all the data and/or inadvertently reset it to original factory specs if possible. I am particularly worried about losing music files/playlists on the device.

1. Removed phone from windowsphone.com
2. Did a factory reset on phone
3. Told it to do a new phone from scratch not restore backup
4. Went through all the setup screens reconnected to MS account
5. Phone was reset up on windowsphone.com
I've had my 1020 for a month, without a single restart-issue. The only thing that has not been working properly, is Bluetooth/wifi, which have been stuck until a reboot (most of the time after beeing bluetooth'ed to my car stereo). Anyway, I did a hard reset to see if that worked. I did not restore from backup, just to make sure i did not transfer any problems.

As expected there were some bugs, so I read online on how to fix them after restarting my phone and doing a soft reset, it didn't work. I then had to do a factory reset- or a hard reset. It then threw my phone into a perpetual state of spinning cogs and a never-ending battle that is so close to lost I can feel the defeat seeping in like a plague. I've connected it to my computer to do the NSRT but my phone only sees it as a power source. I've taken the battery out, brought it to the Microsoft store, and I've even tried to hack into it via computer. However the same problem shows every time:

Is there any way to stop my icon from turning on while charging? Or any other way to fix this? I'm really not trying to have to switch back to my 822.
At times when copying files, the phone freezes. ANd when restarting SD card error message appears.

I cant even revert back to windows phone 8.1 it shows an error when using WPRT. To be noted Storage Manager Crashes as well as the messages app. New software wont install or write in the internal Memory. Whatsapp Messages Disappear after reboot. Uninstall whatsapp and its back after reboot. I'm stuck with what I have. New Data wont Write on internal memory.

I've never had any problems with it that weren't easily solved by a quick reboot, but a week ago my phone started freezing its screen and being glitchy..I ignored this after i fixed it by rebooting it a couple of times by taking the battery out, but soon after it turned off completely and wouldn't turn back on. I plugged it into the charger thinking the battery might have died because it was showing the "goodbye" screen before it would turn off. After plugging it into the charger, it would restart normally, showing the battery charging symbol which usually stays there for about 5 minutes until the lock screen comes on. Unfortunately, instead of the lock screen coming up after this period of time, the phone would vibrate and then begin charging again.

My friend performed a hard reset without myknowledge and I lost everything! I tried connectin my phone to Zune and it took it as a new phone I lost everything my contacts, msgs, apps and I can find a way to get them back!As far as I know I can restore the phone but I am not knowing how! View 1 Replies View RelatedI wrongly did wipe my Lumia 800 (059M359).From there, everytime I configure my device, and begin to transfer more data to it (like 2, or 3 GB data), it freezes... and when I restart it (just pressing power button), it comes back totally empty (like a hard reset).
Not surprising, I found another guy who has exalt the same problem. The only difference is that he has initiated the wipe on Windowsphone website, and me at OWA website.
I took the device to the Nokia Care Point last Saturday, got it today, where they have updated firmware and OS version. But, again, when I started uploading data to it, it stopped working again, and I lost all my daily configuration.
