View 4 Replies View RelatedI have not been able to find the answer to this anywhere on the web, and the Nokia Specifications page for the Lumia 920 lists "WMA 10 Pro" and "WMA 9" as supported Music format Codecs. Does the 920 play back audio files in the WMA Lossless format?
View 13 Replies View RelatedJust got my xperia play (very nice by the way), and it alleges to have support for WMA files for music, however, when I try and copy these over I get the message saying the file needs to be converted otherwise it won't play ... is that correct? My last SE phone worked fine for WMA ....
View 6 Replies View RelatedI Have a HTC One s with a GoSmart sim card. I have had this phone for over 5 months with no problems. On New Years eve, my phone was acting weird and couldnt play any music files. When i would play it song, it would say "Unable to play this type of audio file" Then i try to play a video on youtube, and it would say "There was a problem while playing touch to retry" Nothing that had to do with sound worked. Alarms, ringtones, and even phone calls wouldnt work.
When someone would call me, it would be silent, and when i answered, no sound would come out. I restored my phone to it's factory settings and at first it didnt work, i restarted my phone like 2 times after restoring it, and it worked. I was able to listen to music, play videos, and talk on the phone. This only lasted 5 days. i dont want to go through the hassle of restoring my phone again.
I just got the 1020 as an upg from the 920. I can access the 920 camera roll via sky drive but none of the videos I took with the 920 are playing on the 1020.
The error message is " Sorry, we can't play this file on your phone." Close
I tried converting several lossless FLAC files (192/24) to a lossless WMA (96/24) to listen to on Lumia 920. The conversion went fine and I checked the resulting files by playing them on the computer. They played fine as expected (no difference from the original). However transferred on a 920 those started to exhibit quantization noise and somewhat degraded sound. I don't have extraordinary expectations for the audio hardware in a phone but at times it was very noticeable - the part where a song fades into silence at its end and has prominent quantization noise (intermittent quick patches of noise/faint sound and silence) is a prime example. If the files were played back at 24 bit resolution that wouldn't have happened for sure. Also, perhaps, that wouldn't be noticeable much if there were proper ditering algorithms in place. None of this appears to be happening inside the Lumia's music player or hardware.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have purchased a Nokia E63 and now find it does not support aa* files which is the format Audio Books use Is there a known work around? . I understand that aa* files are encrypted to protect the authors royalties and cannot understand why Nokia want to block the files as they do not offer an alternative.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to FW 22.007 the musicplayer will not play m4a files stored with a Bit speed of 258 Kbps and 44,1 khz sampling rate, the previous FW had no problem. also a 5800Expresmusic has no problem playing the file.
Can anybody come up with a possible solution or have heard rumours of another FW update which will bring this back to normal (other than having to convert all my music to lower bitrate ?)

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just purchased the really magnificent phone 6720. I have a problem playing songs I have bought in iTunes with the non-DRM'ed format .m4a.
The player seems to recognize the tracks as playable and imports them to the library alright. But when playing a particular song the player skips to the next after a brief attempt. It looks like a bug.If I side-load my SD-card with the exact same tracks into other S60 devices there are no problems at all. So:
6720c doesn't work!!!
N85 works
5800 works
5320 works

View 2 Replies View RelatedSeems like History is repeating itself. When Nokia launched Lumia 800, we all complained about "Disastrous Audio Quality"... Nokia stepped up and released some fixes which enabled the audio drivers/bass issue.
Now Nokia has finally released the much anticipated WP 7.8 update. Got it installed and to my surprise, the audio volume via "Nokia Monster purity headset" is too low. It feels that I am playing the song @ volume "15", although the volume is set to "30"
Nokia, have a second look at your firmware and release a patch to pump up the music volume. Not everyone wants to listen music at "Super Low Volume"..
I've had my Lumia 900 on Rogers for about 2 weeks, sometime in the last couple of days I seem to have lost all call audio.
I've tried incoming and outgoing calls, on handset, speaker, wired headset, and bluetooth - nobody can hear me and I can't hear anyone. Volume is up nice and loud.
Music works through the speaker and wired headset, and the mic in the headset and phone work in the diagnostics app.
This is odd? Are there any settings I can check for call audio?
My new Nokia 700 cannot play all video that played perfecly on N8. Why? I hoped new more poverfull hardware can handle more codecs. Very disappointed. Any chance to upgrade from nokia firmaware?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had this same issue before sending it in for Nokia repair. For some reason my audio from listening to a earphone does not work right. I get a very low echo sound of the music and I don't get any voice. Podcast, I get silence and don't know why I get this issue. It does not have any water damage and has no scratches. I have screen protector on the front and back. Never had this issue with my HTC HD7. Now I did clean the jack input with a earpick and still the same issue. I don't want to send it in again to Nokia repair because I will be with out a phone for 3 weeks. Very upset and if I can't get it working then Samsung or HTC will be my next Windows phone 8 phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was fairly happy with the phone until I tried to listen to music on it. Sound quality (no matter which headphones I use, up to Westone 3) is awful. There's no bass whatsoever, the sound is dirty, no stereo separation etc. etc. Really, I haven't heard anything as awful in years. This is such an outlier among modern phones I really can't get how this passed the quality control.

View 3 Replies View RelatedPhone randomly crashing? I've had nothing that ties the crashes together, but I've had at least a dozen in the 48 hours I've had it. I've made sure the phone is up to date with updates and all apps are updated. I can't think of anything. The only thing close to common is with a few crashes I was playing audio.
