Nokia Lumia :: How Is The "flip To Silence" Feature Enabled
Aug 2, 2012
Updated Lumia 710 with all the latest updates as of 8/1/2012. Tried testing the "flip to silence" feature by placing the phone on its face, but it doesn't work. How is it enabled?
we're gettting flip to silence in a future update. While I think it is a nice feature to have, I do hope we'll also get an actual Silent mode that doesn't require visiting Settings. I want to see when I'm getting a call or text, even when my phone is on silent. Keeping my phone upside down on the table to silence it is like leaving it at home to silence it.
I've had the phone for about a week and I absolutely love it except that at seemingly random moments my phone will block the viewing of any and all of my SMS messages saying "Content protection is enabled". It will show up at the beginning of newly received messages and even in the middle of real-time conversations between someone else and I and then I have to wait for the message to "go away" so I can read what the response was and continue the conversation. Is it something I'm doing? A default phone feature? Is anyone else experiencing this issue or at least know how to solve it?
If you have updated to latest firmware and Diagnostics (##634#) it can be worth un-instaling and then re-installing to reveal extra features:If I've helped in any way, a click upon the white star at bottom right of screen?
For the last 2 months now my FB chat message feature hasn't worked in 3G/wi-fi.I have phoned my phone provider (Orange) and they say there is no fault at their end data wise. I have checked the settings through my Windows Live account that my Facebook account is sync'd/allowed to send messages via chat to my phone.I have checked my FB chat settings to see No settings have been changed disallowing FB chat through my phone. In fact this explains perfectly my problem, as one day FB chat worked perfectly, the next few days it worked intermittently, and then from then on it has stopped working completely. I cannot see any contacts, and my phone says"Cannot Connect to see who's online".
I just bought a Nokia 822 and have questions on the Calendar feature. First, is there a way to set new Occurrence periods. Want to add a 'Two-day' and "Every Two-weeks' option. Second, is there a way to set an end date for a recurring event - i.e.. 'Every Day' ends on a certain date or time period.
I received my Flip 8230 today and have not yet had the chance to activate it and probably won't until tomorrow or Friday. I've been playing with it though to get a good feel for it, and I've noticed that there's no browser installed nor is there any MMS folder or option when sending a picture. I did a search on both issues and found one thread in which it was suggested to resend the service books to remedy the browser problem, so I'll do that as soon as it's hooked up.
What worries me more though is the lack of an MMS folder or MMS option when trying to send a picture. (I can't actually send one of course since my phone isn't activated yet, but the option should still be there.) I did a search on that as well and did find a couple threads about it, but neither really contain an answer to the problem. How do I fix it? I'll be pretty sad if I can't do MMS with this phone.
Just got the new Bold 9650. Should I have the firewall enabled, and the encryption enabled? What else should I do to make sure that my phone is secure?
How do I print from my Lumia 950 to my HP officejet which is WiFi enabled. I am able to print to it from my wife's android. The HPAio beta app from the store doesn't work at all. It says looking for printers and nothing happens . How can we print from this phone?
So I have the following problem. I am using Lumia 1020 for the past 6 months (give or take) and unfortunately my job ended today, so I had to return the SIM card I got from them, but was able to keep the phone.
I already have a new postpaid SIM, but this time from a different carrier. The SIM is not yet active (it usually take around 1-2 days). I put the card in the phone and start it up. A demo mode is enabled and it seems I can't get rid of it, there is also no "Reset phone" under "About" in Settings.
So I had the pleasure to setup my brand new Lumia 950 XL (Single SIM unlocked, CV Germany, but provider T-Mobile DE, build 10586.0) today. After the first hours of installation I was able to actually use it and really begin to like it.
But I already came across a major issue. It might be hardware related, but I assume it is software: While making a call (even tuned down to 2G only, Wifi and NFC off, no special apps installed I suppose), the connection gets quiet within a minute or so after enabling or starting with bluetooth, and the phone reboots some seconds later. I do not even need a device to be connected, the scanning for it may be sufficient. The dialog partner sometimes also reports very bad sound quality before it happens.
I just got my Lumia 1520 handy but when I tried to connect it to the local Wifi hotspot (WPA2 encrypted), it times out saying "Connection unsuccessful - No response from the network". I searched the net for solutions and based on those, I restarted the Wifi Router, my Lumia 1520. Also I did a factory reset of the device.
But still, it is unable to connect to Wifi hot spot.I also tried connecting with another Wifi hotspot (WPA2), but nothing good happened. My other devices like Surface, Lumia 1020 are able to connect to the same hotspot without any issues. There is no restrictions on no. of Wifi connection as I am broadcasting the Wifi from my laptop (Windows 8.1 Update 1) as a virtual wifi hotspot.
I bought a brand new 950XL from EE online hoping to get the wifi calling feature. To be clear it has never been advertised as having wifi calling but the older crapper 640 has it so it can work with a Nokia/Microsoft handset.
Brilliant I thought as I managed to turn it on and and use it when the phone arrived! I even got a text from EE confirming that it was turned on!
Then a sim update arrived lie it quite often does with a new phone and turned the option off in Settings, Network & Wireless, Mobile & Sim, Sim Settings. Now there is no way to turn it on.
So I reset again (4th time now!) thinking I may have triggered the update myself and got the wifi calling back again only to have another sim update and no wifi calling again!
Anyway, after two more phone calls to EE they have now told me that the handset is not compatible with wifi calling and they don't know if it ever will be! Which is bollocks as it has and does work as I have proved. They have turned it off with their sim update.
Dont know that this is application BUG or bad software design that Silent option is not available on display screen during incoming call if phone is locked. Even is not allowing to answer the call from touchscreen.Anyone has info that is is software bug or handset issue?
how to disable or silence camera capture tone for N86, help me for others members for any trick and idea.please to the nokia for add this mode for camera capture tone
Just went back to the 1020, is there a way for the glance screen not be seen unless I wave my hand over the phone or did they remove that feature? For some reason I can't find it in the settings, just the option to leave it on for 15 min.
The volume warning that pops up when you are plugged into the headphone jack with the volume at 30. The fact that it automatically turns my volume down to 13 is maddening! And it does this at a seemingly random interval.
Any way to turn this super ridiculous "feature" off? It never fails that I'm listening to music, or a podcast, through my portable stereo plugged into the aux jack, and lets just say I was changing spark plugs in a Jeep (hypothetically speaking of course) and I couldn't get to the phone to turn it back up and dismiss the nanny message... Even if I had a set of headphones plugged in, who is Nokia to tell me at what level I can have the volume set?
How to you use the zoom features of the camera? I know how to use the zoom after taking the shot but how do you use the zoom feature before framing/taking the shot?
I recently bought Nokia 7020 Flip phone and found this problem with primary display which is 2.2 inches. Problem is you cannot read out the screen when you tilt the screen even 30 degrees. Photos just look like as negatives when you tilt the phone to 60 degrees angle. You can see the correct display on the screen only when it is exactly in front of your face. Is this a problem with my phone or it the problem with Nokia 7020 Flip phone itself.
Nokia Dealer told me that Nokia has introduce LCD screen for this phone and not TFT screen as found in any other model of Nokia, hence this is a normal behavior. You will see the display correctly only when it is exactly in front of your face/eyes.
I cannot check with any other dealer as they do not have any demo model of the phone which I can operate. All are factory sealed and dealer refuse to open the box to get hands-on experience. Even he refused to take back this phone saying this is normal behavior with this model, when I told him that I want to return this phone for this screen display problem.
I still cannot believe that Nokia will introduce this type of screen in this newer model, where user will have to keep the screen in from of his/her eyes without tilting even 30 degrees to see the correct display on the screen.Whether Nokia is compromising on quality to reduce the cost? Could anyone please confirm on this behavior of Nokia 7020 flip screen.
