Nokia Lumia :: 800 - Attaching Files To Web Massage?
Oct 6, 2012
I've just taken delivery of a Lumia 800 and trying to get to grips with where everything is and how it works. I must say, it's far more complicated than I was expecting with basic task seeming to be more complicated than they need to be.
My question relates to attaching photos to messages on websites. I used my previous photo to email photos via Yahoo and submit them to a certain website while on the move. I've never had a problem doing this with any other phone. However, with the Lumia 800, it doesn't seem to allow you to to this. On the webpage I normally use, there is a box with a browse button that when you press, nothing seems to happen. On all phones previously, and when using the site from a pc, you simply press browse, select the file from the memory card / drive and press upload. But this doesn't seem to be the case on the Lumia 800. When you press browse, nothing happens, you don't get a box to select a file from the phone or anything.
I've noticed on different websites and forums that people are having problem attaching album covers to albums they've added to their native Xoom music player. In order to ensure all your music has the appropriate albums attached, I would suggest using Windows Media Player. The steps are as follows.
Step 1. Add music to the "Library" with the list of songs from your artist of choice.
Step 2. Then browse to the album that is missing art.
Step 3. Using either Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer, in another window, find a picture that you want to use for album art (the picture can be in a file on your computer or on a webpage), right-click the picture, and then click Copy.
Step 4. In your library, right-click the album art box, and then click Paste Album Art.
A copy of the picture is embedded into each of the songs from that album. The copy of the picture is automatically scaled to the appropriate size and converted to the JPEG format before it is embedded in the file. The original picture file is not modified.
Step 5. Drag files from your library to the "Sync" tab, then sync songs to your Xoom. Now when you check your Xoom you should have all the album artwork attached to your albums.
I got many pdf docs and jpg files downloaded onto my lumia 710 phone.. I need to delete some of these files to make some free memory space.. The pdf reader app does not have the feature to delete the files.. Neither has the Zune software this feature. What is the solution to Demers individual pdf files stored in the phone memory without uninstalling the pdf app or resetting the phone?
I have recently subscribed for mobile banking for which I need to download an application provided by the bank. But to my despair I found that I can't download the file as it is a .jar application.kindly guide if there is a way out as I found from bank website that it a basic java application compatible with most of the phones
I've had this problem for a day or so now. I connect my lumia 920 to my PC (Windows 7 ultimate x64) the phone makes a connection sound and it shows up under My Computer. However when I go to browse the files on the 920 it is just empty. Also when I try and use the WindowsPhone app it boots up on the welcome screen as if it's the first time I'm connecting it and does nothing when I press the continue button...
This hasn't always been the case as I was able to browse the files and use the WindowsPhone app for over a week without trouble previously. What I have tried so far:>Restarting my phone.>Reinstalling the WindowsPhone app.>Repairing and reinstalling .NET 4.5 and updating it.>Turning my firewall off>Connecting it to another USB port. >Connecting it to my other computer. >Hard resting my phone. (This left me stuck on the cog wheels for hours and I had to flash my phone to fix this)>And maybe more things that I can't remember at the moment.Interestingly when I had to hard reset it and wipe everything off the phone it worked fine, the app let the phone sync my music etc, I thought it had been fixed. BUT the second time I went to sync my phone the same problem happened! WindowsPhone app thinks its the first time and wont let me press continue and the device is just empty under My Computer. The phone works fine otherwise, all my music and stuff is on it from the first sync and I have 0 problems besides this!
Just picked up a Nokia lumia 822 and was wondering how to open downloaded files? Through IE it appears i can only stream a media file and now download it. Through UC Browser it says its downloaded but seems to only let me stream it. I want to download a song and add it to my music library, is that even possible
I think we can only transfer music/photos/videos to WP using Zune. Is there anyway to transfer a file, say like a ".cbr" to my phone's storage and not going through SkyDrive?
I often use You Tube Downloader to fill my phone with videos to keep the kids happy, but when I've downloaded them, the Kids Corner section on my Lumia 920 doesn't find the downloads. I've tried looking on the phone for a file manager function, but can't find one.
1. how do I get it to recognise downloaded videos?
i put a sd card from my droid into my lumia the pics and video load but i can not find the files that are on the card.when i plug the phone to a pc everything on the card shows up what am i doing wrong
On the Lumia 800, I have found out how to move sound files as Ringtones but how can I get it set as a message or alarm tone? I need it for noisy environments etc.

Finding the files which I download through my mail into my windows mobile.I have downloaded some of the xcel and word documnts and am unable to find them on only phone....
WP8 appears to completely lack the most basic Audiobook functioanlity. No seek/skip in audio or video? No bookmarking or remembering location in files?! I mean... I would like to see more advanced functionality specific to Audiobooks but these types of features are very useful for all sorts of media. The Nokia app doesn't even FFW or rewind through audio/video!
The Audible app is pretty great but I can't seem to figure out a way to use it to play any of the hundreds of older audiobooks I've created myself from my personal auiobook CD/Casette collection. I can't imagine what I'd do if I still needed to go through recorded lectures.
Okay, so I have got my Lumia 820 and tried to send my contacts from my old N8. I managed to connect via bluetooth and send the contacts, but they are no where to be found. Tried going into Phone Storage, but from there I can only see how much memory is taken up and how much is left.
how I could access the phone storage memory and the files on there?
I'm using Lumia 710. One problem that I'm facing is that whenever I download any mp3 files either from any music apps or email, I can't find the same in the Music. How do I get these files in my music? When I download images, docs etc from email/apps, I usually get option : 'save to phone', but the same option is not available for Music files.
I just got the 1020 as an upg from the 920. I can access the 920 camera roll via sky drive but none of the videos I took with the 920 are playing on the 1020.
The error message is " Sorry, we can't play this file on your phone." Close
I tried converting several lossless FLAC files (192/24) to a lossless WMA (96/24) to listen to on Lumia 920. The conversion went fine and I checked the resulting files by playing them on the computer. They played fine as expected (no difference from the original). However transferred on a 920 those started to exhibit quantization noise and somewhat degraded sound. I don't have extraordinary expectations for the audio hardware in a phone but at times it was very noticeable - the part where a song fades into silence at its end and has prominent quantization noise (intermittent quick patches of noise/faint sound and silence) is a prime example. If the files were played back at 24 bit resolution that wouldn't have happened for sure. Also, perhaps, that wouldn't be noticeable much if there were proper ditering algorithms in place. None of this appears to be happening inside the Lumia's music player or hardware.
In Internet Explorer, I tried to attach and send a file from my Lumia 800. But, after clicking the browse button for attaching file, there is no response. Is this the case with all or this could be resolved?
When I make a slide show for a text, I can only add 3 pics and the size of the pics shrink progressively from the size of the first. Is there a way to add more than 3 & keep the size consistent for all the pics?
i try to save massage in x8,but every time i try to I hit every message to be saved, the option that appears just delete massage, copy and forward messages.
I have attempted to upload photographs off my blackberry to my laptop using a usb cable and it has prompted me for a password, I tried the password I have to access my phone after one minute but this did not work, it then prompted me to put the word "blackberry" into the box. I did this and then it has asked for password again and again and agin, I am no at 9/10 and about to wipe all my information, I have tried all the options. Tried my registration password too. I cant afford for my phone to wipe itself clean.
I want to be able to tell by the ring tone who is calling me. Can I do this with my Blackberry Curve 9360? I have downloaded the song I want to use but that's as far as I could get.
