i just got my E72, and the email thing is kinda bugging me. i set up my hotmail and gmail account and it's just not working, there's this little cross symble on the top right hand side. do i need to have internet servies on my sim card or do i use the wlan for the email to work?
View 15 RepliesI bought my E72 3 days ago and the first impression i got was disappointing.The first action you do when switching on E72 for the first time is to set up your email accounts. Remember, E72 is Nokia's top email phone!I chose hotmail. I enter my email account and then my password as requested.And the next screen i get is nothing but the previous one!!!The same happens with Yahoo accounts.I found a way to work around the crash and set up my account through the "other" tab available on the wizard.I am really disappointed that i have changed my beloved E71, to get an even more proffessional solution that in the end needs a total update to set up our emails.There must be a solution in the next software upgrade and must be installed for free in all Nokia's stores.

I have a new Droid 4 and cannot get my hotmail working. I have added the account under "Accounts" and it said it was successfully added and is in the account list. However, I'm not getting any emails...not the old ones or new ones coming in. My gmail account is working just great. How can I get my hotmail to work?

SMS, MMS, Blackberry messenger all work fine. My email account works fine if I log in through the browser. My wife has the same phone and also has a hotmail email account and hasn't had any problems.Any ideas on how to fix this?

On the next step it only gives me "exchange active sync" as an option and not the rest of the email providers as it does on my E6 for example.
My Nokia history:2110 => 6110 => 8110 => 6310 => 2300 => 2600 => 6070 => E71 => N97 Mini => E72 => C7 => E7 => E6 => 700
Previously, all my contacts were taken periodically from my Nokia E71 phone and moved to my Hotmail account.I found no reason for this, although other threads here suggested I disable the contacts option in the email accounts part of my phone.I not only did this, I upgraded the phone software and then imported the phone contacts from the backup I had made in Nokia PC Suite.
Now I need to import the rest of my contacts from Hotmail, the ones which were removed from my phone without my wanting them to be removed.
I have successfully set up my hotmail account to send and receive emails but I cannot for the life of me get the following to work.Sent email from N900 showing as sent on PCRead email on N900 not shown as read on PCDeleted email on N900 not shown as deleted on PCFolders not shownIt looks like there is no synchronization between the 2 but it works whichever PC I use..I have been through the different topics and although a few people have mentioned the same thing I cannot find a definitive answer.

The settings I'm using are :
Incoming server : pop3.live.com
Outgoing server : smtp.live.com
But when it's all setup, I get the message :"Unable to connect to pop3.live.com. Server name or port number may be incorrect" Can someone tell me the correct settings please?

View 4 Replies View RelatedE-mail reconciliation is not working for me with my Gmail account. When I read an e-mail on my BB, it isn't being marked as read in my Gmail. It also isn't working the other way: when I read an e-mail on my computer, my BB doesn't mark it as read.
How can I fix this? E-mail reconciliation in my options is already turned on.
Got my BB curve 8025 at the weekend and have encounted afew things i didnt understand serched the net and found this site which as been a god send! I'm trying to set up email but atm its only giving me the option for setting up work email account with a BB enterprise server - I just want to set up a normal email account using my normal hotmail account but i cant get any further along as it asks for my enterprise activation password - which i obviously dont have?
Also - a few friend have gien me their pin so i can add them on BBM, i type the pin and it says contact pending but the person/s im trying to add get no notification that i'm trying to add them - we try it the other way with me giving them my pin and get the same result WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

View 7 Replies View RelatedGot an E72 last week and went throug the e-mail setup and added a hotmail account and it worked fine. After three days or so the e-mails just stopped coming into the phone. When I checked my hotmail account on my PC I found a lot of new mails. I tried to delete the account and add it again. The result is an empty inbox. When I try to sync It says that it is connected to hotmail and that it is updating but I donīt get any e-mails to the phone.Any ideas what could have happend and how to solve this. I think I have changed all the settings and tried everyting and read a lot of threads on diffrent forums but I canīt find an answer.

The problem started happening around 2 weeks ago and the situation remains, the client continues to tell me the password is wrong, but it's not.I've tried to set up the account with Mail for Exchange, and while it initially seem to work, then suddenly the e-mail from last month all start going to the Deleted Items folder in Hotmail, even after having configured the phone never to delete any messages, so I stopped using that solution as well.

I believe that it just stopped syncing last week and I believe that it was following a Motorola update, but cannot say for sure. Under Data Delivery, both Background Data and Data enabled are checked green. However, this is interesting because Email and corporate sync is grayed out on that screen. When I go to Account, checking the sync options is not possible, but I can do a manual sync. Please note, at one time, these options to sync Contacts, Gmail and Calendar were available. I've pulled the batter. I really do not want to reset to factory default. Suggestions? (Please note this is a company Gmail account, not just regular Gmail.)

I don't know if my thread title makes sense but basically what I would like to know is what are the advantages of downloading the Gmail app vs just setting up a Gmail account through my BIS (Email Settings/Add Account)? My main objective here is wireless contacts sync. I have read a lot of negative feedback regarding Gmail on a BlackBerry but I will not really even be using this for email all to often, although I will from time to time.
What I have done is just added my new Gmail account through the native BlackBerry email setup and then downloaded Google Sync. I downloaded the Gmail app but I didn't really like the UI and I like to have all 3 of my email accounts go into the same folder.
My E55 refuses to complete the setup using the preset Gmail settings in the phone. It gets as far as conencting to the mailbox and trying to syncfor about 10 secs then the mailbox dissapears and gos back to the option no email accounts set do you wish to create and I have to start again, but to no avail. Firmware is current, done a factory reset all to no avail. The annoying thing is it had been working fine, but I uninstalled the Gmail mailbox as my wife wanted to use the phone for a few weeks whilst she got a new one, and now I cant put it back on, so I know my Gmail settings are correct with regards to google. Internet access is fine
View 2 Replies View RelatedA month ago I purchased the E72 and I have been using the Nokia Messaging with 3 mailboxes. 1 Ovi and 2 Gmail's. Everything worked flawlessly until today, when my main gmail account stopped working. I cannot send mail, i can recieve the old messaged, and Sync doesnt stop.The other gmail accounts however works perfectly, and so is the Ovi.I tried deleting them all and setting up each mailbox individualy , but still the my main gmail account is bugged, while the two other accounts worked well.I tried logging in to email.nokia.com but the site doesnt respond.
