BB Bold 9700 :: Gmail App Vs. Adding Gmail Account Through Setup?
Feb 2, 2010
I don't know if my thread title makes sense but basically what I would like to know is what are the advantages of downloading the Gmail app vs just setting up a Gmail account through my BIS (Email Settings/Add Account)? My main objective here is wireless contacts sync. I have read a lot of negative feedback regarding Gmail on a BlackBerry but I will not really even be using this for email all to often, although I will from time to time.
What I have done is just added my new Gmail account through the native BlackBerry email setup and then downloaded Google Sync. I downloaded the Gmail app but I didn't really like the UI and I like to have all 3 of my email accounts go into the same folder.
I'm having problems accessing any websites at all.I'm on the 3 network and can access all of their own free to browse stuff, but when i try to access social networking or BBC sites or anything else, it shows a message saying 'unable to connect please try again later'.I really don't know what the issue is, and after contacting 3 they aren't filling me with confidence that they know either. Also i do not have the option of adding my existing gmail account to my blackberry.
I am trying to setup my gmail account on my BB 9700 Bold, but keep getting the message that the gmail account or password is incorrect and won't give me any other options.I updated the phone to OS6 and it still won't accept the gmail account. Also received the "Enhanced Google Mail plug-in for Blackberry smartphones" - but that also stops at the same place.I have another webmail account [URL] that I've always used previously (and it works), but want to change from that email account (which is very spammed out) to my gmail account. Must I delete that account first before adding my gmail account? I haven't done so in case I lose that account and not be able to reinstate it.
I am new here and i wanted some help with setting up my email on Blackberry. The thing is that my Blackberry is from India, and I moved to Australia.I asked for the ulock code from my indian carrier which they were happy to provide with.I never used push mail service or a BB before.I want to set up a push mail service from my Gmail account to my Blackberry, which i am not able to do. Can you help me.my phone is a Blackberry 9000 Bold.
I really hate to do this but I have looked around for way too long trying to find the answer to this. If you can point me in the right direction I would be grateful. I just switched today from the iPhone to the 9700 Bold and I can't figure out how to configure my Gmail to come through.
I'm a recent returnee to the Blackberry world, and I use a Gmail address as my primary address. I've noticed something, and this issue has been discussed in other posts, but not rectified to my satisfaction. If I delete an email on my BB, it does not delete on my Gmail account on a desktop or laptop. This can be incredibly frustrating. I tried using the Gmail mobile BB app, but it doesn't display HTML email, and my BB is used mostly for personal not for business. Maintaining an orderly email account is proving extremely difficult. I've had the DELETE ON: MAILBOX AND HANDHELD set both ways, and i've had the sync option on the MANAGE EMAIL ACCOUNTS submenu checked and unchecked, and it doesn't work any way i can set it.
Very recently I cleared all my contacts, then sync my contacts with my gmail account. The problem is that it is adding on to my internal memory, why is this happening when I have sync my contacts with gmail. I do not have any contact on my phone. If I can find a solution for this, it will save 7.5mb of my space, where in I can accommodate something useful.
So I added a new gmail email address to my phone but by accident, when prompted told it to synch my contacts with that account. The first thing it did was import all the contacts to my gmail address book, on gmail.com, effectively erasing most of them from the phone. I took it into the t-mobile store and the guy somehow managed to recover about 1/3 of the contacts. So when I took it home, I deleted that email address and just plugged it into my computer and re-synched the contacts from my address book. However, whenever I look in my address book on the blackberry now, at the top of a contact it says "Sychronize using: email@example.com" (Obviously insert the email address I used). But that email address is no longer on my phone, so how is it synched with that? It also I think it is creating problems with synching up my facebook contacts as their pictures no longer show as icons on my phone. It's a minor problem, and seems to be a software issue, but is there any way to completely un-sych my contacts from this deleted email address?
i got my college account which is <removed>@berklee.edu but it is a gmail account. I mean i access to the account through gmail.I can't seem to set it up on my blackberry, how do i do it?i try to setup a gmail account, but obviosly the phone is recognizing <removed>@firstname.lastname@example.org full username is the email address i first gave.
When setting up my account is tells me "cant establish a reliable connection to the server" i've even set up an account on my computer and tried logging in instead but it still gives me that failure notice!
My Photon 4 G does not sync calendar, contact, Gmail with my company Gmail account. I believe that it just stopped syncing last week and I believe that it was following a Motorola update, but cannot say for sure. Under Data Delivery, both Background Data and Data enabled are checked green. However, this is interesting because Email and corporate sync is grayed out on that screen. When I go to Account, checking the sync options is not possible, but I can do a manual sync. Please note, at one time, these options to sync Contacts, Gmail and Calendar were available. I've pulled the batter. I really do not want to reset to factory default. Suggestions? (Please note this is a company Gmail account, not just regular Gmail.)
IPhone 4 running 4.0.1. Happened on 4.0 as well. This is the second time this has happened. Look at the center email...anything look funny? It won't let me delete and eventually changes to a date in the year 2000 then randomly will go away. It just shows up on it's own. Email setup with default gmail account settings.
While trying to setup Gmail inside Email Accounts, I got error message:"Activation request failed. A service connection is unavailable.´╗┐"I am very much sure that my username and password is correct, every time I got the same message. And even I downloaded the Gmail app from [URL] the version is 2.0.6, but it is also not working. It starts and stuck on the loading screen. My wifi connection working fine.
I have been dragging myself through all BB support stands, call centers and no one seems to know how to fix this! I have been using my MSN account for ages now and I cannot stand living without it! I bought the BB to be close to my inbox wherever I go.Everytime, I try to set my email into the Email Accounts through Setup, I get the following error:"Invalid email address or password. Verify your email address and password. If the error persists, contact msn.com"Although I am sure I am typing the right user name and password.
We had some issues with devices last week; we swapped sims chips and did a few other troubleshooting steps. When I got my BB back I received this error when trying to open gmail.I have a BB Bold 9700 with the 126.96.36.1998, platform 188.8.131.52,4,8 software installed
A new Blackberry device has been detected. You must move your email account to receive email on this device. To move an email account, you will need to type the email account password. At least one email account must be moved to setup email on this deviceŁ.
my Bold 9900. Is it possible to setup e-mail service to sync read e-mail.
I there comes new mail to my Gmail account, it immediately appears in my Bold also. If I read this mail on BB, it is marked as read also in my desktop client and on web interface. But if I read new mail in web interface or desktop client it remains marked as unread in Bold (even after few hours!) and I must mark as readed manualy in phone.
I use a Bold 9780 and have T-Mobile US as a provider. From my Gmail account I get mail sent twice, once from Gmail and once from Unknown. Checked with T-Mobile but did not get a satisfactory response. Ideally, I would like to do away with the extra copy.
