Jun 20, 2010i found out that the position sensor of my Nokia doesnt work good.For example Raging Thunder if i want to play and put my Phone on the Table before, the car drive more to left but it must drive forward. I heard that other people with Nokia 5800 have the same problem, but not all.Why i cant calibrate the sensor?

Jan 22, 2010I installed the new Maps 3.03 and when I go to My Position it shows my current position but not accurate. I tried to search for my exact location, but no results found. I am not able to understand if GPS is working. Guide talks about some red indicator I do see one with halo red but I don't what to do with that ? Additionally when I go to Menu of the maps I see Please sign in at the top but its not clickable. How to sign in ?

Internet option is offline as I have downloaded the map. Do I need to to make it online to A-GPS work?
Nokia :: N96 - My Position Not Showing Updated Location On Maps
Aug 30, 2010Open the Maps application on N96, then select "Options" -> "My position", the application will show a Red Circle on the Map to indicate the current position, and the position is correct, but when I walk to another street, then select again "Options" -> "My position", found that the Red Circle is still on the previous street. What is the problem? Why Maps can't show "My second position" correctly?

Aug 21, 2012Maps are never finding my GPS location. It just continues to search and search. I have tried rebooting, holding down the button for 8 seconds and getting the 3 buzzes but no luck.
If I use the check in feature - it works - finds my location an places nearby.
Drive To Navigation fails. It used to find my location extremely fast. Am I able to uninstall it and reinstall Nokia Maps?

Aug 18, 2010I came across the following problems whilst trying to update an address in my favourites list:
*Editing the address does not change the position of the place - i.e. I now have an entry that shows all the correct info for one location, but is actually pointing somewhere completely different! I edited my entry from the Homescreen search (which seems to take you through to Location>landmarks.
*In Maps, I can't move a place to the right collection (organise collections) There is no scroll bar so I can only access the first few collections!!!
*Trying to get around this using Ovi Maps on PC fails too - After selecting the right collection to move it to, the message "cannot connect to remote server" comes up. There is no problem connecting to the server for any other functions, but for this one it is persistent.
I then went on to plan a route:
*Using Search in Maps does not include (or allow you to select) results from your own favourites or history!
*When adding a route point you don't have access to your collections (only a raw list of favourite places)
*After clicking "Start driving" in a route, you can no longer access favourite places or history at all!
Nokia Navigation :: Maps Function Going Straight To My Position Page On E6
Dec 26, 2011I seem to have a problem with maps on my recently purchased E6. No matter how I access the maps function it goes straight to the 'My Position' map page. In other words it bypasses the page where you can select My Position, Drive, Walk, Favorites etc.

Nokia :: 5800 Satellite Maps / Update Speed In Ovi Maps
Aug 10, 2010I've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps:
1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
Nokia :: 5800 Maps AND Ovi Maps Both Installed In Memory
Feb 2, 2010Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
Nokia :: Maps 3.01 / Maps Load Screen / Empty Map / No Keys Work
Jan 22, 2010I updated today to Maps 3.01. (To be noted that Ovi Suite still considers there is a new version of Maps available and would download and install 3.01 again any times I click on update.) When starting Maps the load screen with progress bar appears, then I can see an "empty" map. No keys work. After a few seconds (around 10 or so) the phone restarts.I deleted Cities folder and the file QF, rebooted, reinstalled etc. nothing helps.

May 1, 2012I think my GPS not working properly after the ICS update. In google maps, it is showing my location approximately 200 metres only which can be done using mobile network.
While i was using ginger bread, google maps were accurate up to 2 metres using GPS. In ICS version, it is showing as dot instead of triangle symbol.

The camera doesn't work. I open the camera application with both methods (button on side and icon in apps) but it does the red dot thing in the corner for about 4-6 seconds then disappears and applications tells me the app is running. I try to go to the app but it wont go on it.
Problem 2:
The green key, dialler and contacts icon on the home screen do not work at all. I have no way of opening my dialler as there is no option for it.
I updated my firmware to v40.0.005 last week. Please be aware the problems were both there BEFORE i made the update and are still here after the update.Is there any way of doing this without soft/hard resetting. Also, does soft/hard reset mean you lose the data in an app (eg your high scores in a game like bagatelle)?
Nokia :: Ovi Maps 3.03 And 5800
Feb 7, 2010Can anyone help.... Nokia 5800 with latest firmware v40.. Had Nokia maps 3.01 and the compass was enabled in "MY POSITION" where we could either have it align north or align according to the route we take.Now downloaded maps 3.03, but the compass is stuck with the map facing north. Any amount of tapping on the compass is of no use. I went thru the manual and it says that we need to tap on the compass to either align the compass to the direction of travel, but it is of no use... When using either Drive to or Walk to function, the map is aligned to the direction of travel, but when we stop navigation, the compass is stuck back again facing north.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Feb 5, 2010I have nokia 5800 XM with recent firmware version. Downloaded and installed ovi maps 3.03 but when i'm trying to open the program it shows startup screen and closes automaticly. Tried to uninstall it and install once more, restore phone to factory settings, but the same problem. Previous version (not free) of ovi maps is working fine on my phone. The same problem on my friends phone nokia 5230. Both phones are in bought in Latvia, not locked with any operator and have dafault nokia firmware, not any specific operator software. But if previous wersion worked on my phone then the new version must work too, i think so, but it's not working

May 5, 2010The GPS feature and Nokia Maps icon in the menu would suggest that the Nokia 5800 supports maps. My aim is to transfer maps onto the phone's memory card so I will not require an internet connection to use the feature. In Nokia PC Suite, clicking Maps takes me to a page that tells me to download Nokia Ovi Suite. I won't bore you with a rant on how bad my experience Ovi Suite is (it is terrible), but the end result is that clicking download on a map appears to transfer it to the phone, but no maps appear on the phone.
I recall there used to be a separate piece of software that allowed downloading and transferring of maps, but I cannot find it. Nokia appear to have removed it from the website, which is a shame, because it worked.
Is there a piece of software that is able to transfer maps to the 5800. Failing that, is there a way to transfer maps manually?

Jan 24, 2010Just installed the free ovi maps on my 5800. The maps are out of date. My estate was built in 2001 and doesn't show on the maps. I also have Google maps on my 5800 and maps and photo of my estate are there. Even my 3 year old navman in-car shows my estate. Mmmm free and oout of date. I'll stick to Google maps.

Jul 3, 2010I updated my Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic firmware to the latest version yesterday and I also installed the latest Ovi maps through Ovi Suite and everything installed successfully. However, when I go to maps on my phone, the GPS and satellites are working fine, but I can not see any maps appearing on my phone - just a grey/pale green background appears instead of the maps. Only if I zoom all the way out, then the world globe starts to appear, and then disappears as I try to zoom back in.
