I'm using ovi maps v3.01 on my 5730 XM, and whenever I open the maps application it connects to the internet using the gprs connection without asking for about 3 seconds then disconnects. and I have the setting to 'go online at startup' disabled. I get charged by the day so i want to prevent connection every time i open the maps.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed the latest, free OVI maps for E71 but it still connects to the internet using my t-mobile data connection.I've set the Internet connection to offline, default accesspoint to "search for WLAN" and roaming warning to on. Futhermore synchronisation is set to manual.But it still connects to internet using the t-mobile internet connection and even though it's just a few kilobytes it can cost me money if I'm outside the country.This behaviour is the same as the previous version. I used it in Thailand and downloaded the Thailand map before and set the application to offline. When I wanted to know my position it connected to the internet without even asking.I discovered the connections by accident (looking at the logs) after two weeks and it cost me about 18 euros. Even though no more than 20 Kb per day was sent (and received) by default at least 200 Kb is billed per day if a connection is made.The only way to avoid the connections being made was to set the phone to flight/off-line modus though detection of my position was a lot slower so I suspect the connections are made for a rough position detection using the mobile connection points.Though now I see mainly brief connections out are made they're still connections and I would like to be able to disable it without loosing my main-phone-function (receiving phone calls).
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I've just downloaded the new free Ovi Maps for my 5800 and it's pretty nice, except for one thing: even when I set the connection to offline it still connects to the Internet every time the app is started (which, even though the app is fullscreen is visible when, for example you go into the settings screen). It seems though that after a minute or so it disconnects, but still, the old Maps app asked on startup whether to connect, this one just does without asking every time it's started.Am I missing some hidden setting?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Nokia C7, recently updated with Belle OS. Past couple of weeks, I am noticing "Messaging" app connects to the internet and uploads some data. This happens whenever I open Messaging to check my messages with my internet connection enabled.
I have checked for Virus/Spyware..etc, but nothing seems to be existing. I have Kaspersky Mobile security. I have also removed the thirdparty app's as well, but still I have the same issue.
If I access the Messaging app when my Internet connection is disabled, it will "Mobile Data Off", which means it tries to connect to internet.
what could be the SAR value while using Internet?Because I use Internet more than calling.Also tell me SAR values for a call and gprs.I use Nokia 701.

I'm now at the confused.com point I want to use my phone on the WLAN at home and I've added the service to the phone using the wizard etc however every time it connects its seems to use the futures bright internet and thus I incur download charges, ok they are only a few pence at a time but I don't know why it does this. I've set the phone to ask on connection and I pick the WLAN every time.Can anyone help me please - fyi this phone has been unlocked and unbranded and is currently using PAYG, don't know if that makes any difference or not but thought I would share
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I run Internet Radio, I can only select Wi-Fi access points, no 3G or GPRS (in my case: Vodafone Live!). Other apps do show all access points.This is a pitty as the application is rather nice.The app does show settings for the GPRS, 3G and Wi-Fi bitrates, so obviously it does support these connections.I've deleted and re-installed, to no avail.

I've been told the best way to do this is through gmail, which requires Mail For exchange (if I've understood correctly). I've been able to download it for a 5730 on the nokia website, but upon trying to install it says I'm using an incorrect version.Is Mail for Exchange available for my phone or not? The manual makes mention of it being one my options when configuring the phone, but all I can see is Email and Nokia Messaging.

Ever since my 5730 updated itself to the newest firmware (200.12.87), every time I type ANYTHING using the qwerty keyboard (sms, note, etc), I can't rapidly push 2 adjacent keys. eg, F and G, W and E, Y and H, etc etc. I can however rapidly push keys that aren't adjacent, eg R and H, P and A, Y and M, etc. If i do push 2 adjacent keys, only 1 of them registers as it seems nokia have now enforced a key delay if this happensCan't seem to google anything about this problem. I did however have a look at the recently released changelog of this new firmware (http://download.releasenotes.nokia.com/RM-465_core_en-GB.xml). You'll notice a line saying "Enhanced keyboard usability". That's quite a laugh; it's actually gimped keyboard usability. The whole point of having a qwerty keyboard is so I can type fast; and to have a forced a key delay on adjacent keys to "enhance keyboard usability" is just ridiculous. You may ask, how is this a problem.well, try typing words like we're, police, friday, etc, and you'll notice letters missing. This 'enhancement' has ironically turned my phone into a typing annoyance.If you're gonna include such a game-breaking feature like this atleast make an option for your users to turn it off.

Everytime i go on the music player, it automatically searches for Music and Podcasts. It searches for so long (10 mins) that I go and hit the red 'end call' button to end the app with it still in the background. And when I go back to the music player, it freezes.

I just bought Neo V 3 days ago. First day I connected it to internet which I use at home via Wifi. There was no any problem, there was internet connection. But 1 day after it's gone. I'm connecting wifi (sees it, enters password and connects) but there is no internet connection. I surfed on internet to detect problem and all i found was 'changing wep to wpa' . (I'm using u.s. robotics 9106 as modem) But it didn't work out too.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am able to connect to my wifi and it shows with both a check mark and the wireless bars in the top right of my phone that I am connected to wifi but when I try to refresh apps using the internet or pull up the internet browser it says I have no internet connection. I have a tablet the connects to the same network with out any problems and has full internet access so it's something with my phone. View 5 Replies View RelatedSounds ok but alas no. It always connects around midnight, I presume something is trying to update. As I have no free net usage is costs me £1 per night. I have had the phone for around 2 months and this has started since i had the phone, the only thing I have installed is the network provider info, no apps or nothing. My service provider says there is nothing wrong their end and it must be the phone, they have cut off my internet and the charges have stopped, so something is definitely trying to connect, but as I have said the phone is standard. I cannot find any reference to anyone else having the same problem on the internet, I have downloaded kaspersky anti virus and it has scanned my phone and says there are no viruses.

It is showing GPRS so it should be connecting.
I've clicked 'register now' for the host routing and it got back saying bb has been registered with wireless network. I've tried taking the battery out which hasn't worked either.
