Jun 30, 2010I've been using Ovi Maps for a few weeks, and I'm a little confused as to how Ovi Maps (3.04) works alongside "Landmarks". This is on a 5230.Ovi Maps has a section called "categories" which are selectable for display under the Ovi Maps settings menu. If I select a category from here, an icon is shown on the map representing the location. So I have chosen useful ones for me - cash dispensers, fuel stations, tourist information etc and these display properly.Outside of Ovi Maps, there is also the "Landmarks" under "Applications" "Location". Landmarks are sorted either alphabetically or can be allocated to categories. I have chosen to add some specific locations to a category called "Geocaches". I don't appear to be able to make this category of custom locations appear in Ovi Maps, or be searchable in Ovi Maps. How do I make the category "Geocaches" appear as a category in Ovi Maps? How can I choose which icon to display in Ovi Maps representing these landmarks only? Or does Ovi Maps simply read all Landmarks and completely ignore the category assigned in the Landmarks app? there no way that I can add points of interest directly into the Ovi Maps file structure? (Just for reference, on TomTom devices this is very straightforward. The TomTom reads file with a specific filename extension and adds it to the categories that are searchable and can be displayed on a map. Additionally it allows a warning sound to be played when you arrive within a certain distance of location in a specific category - TomTom calls them POIs - and this would be a very useful feature for Ovi Maps particularly for my hobby of geocaching).

Jul 9, 2010I recently bought a Nokia 5230 in june 2010. It worked really well for one month. Yesterday i started experiencing unresponsive touchscreen problem. The touchscreen didnt respond and the Small white menu (with the music,web,share icons ) kept popping up if i moved my phone a little bit..(it really annoys)I did a Soft Reset as well as a Hard Reset Nothing worked out. The touchscreeen works after i lock and unlock the phone.

Jun 30, 2010Everything works ok except the built in camera !It is a very strange and unusual behavior , it is not broken but it works at totally random times !i tried everything i could but i did not succeed in finding a right pattern that makes it working all the time.I just have to turn the phone on and off all the time and HOPE that it will work.
It was like this since the beginning but i tought that a new OS update would have fix this problem , unfortunately after the latest OS updates (just done it last week) nothing has changed , The camera just works when it wants to at random times !it has 2 way of acting either i see the red circle on top for few sec and nothing happen
but the camera is active in the task manager .. but i cant kill it (the exit camera has no effect at all !) or it just works straight away ! very werid !What do u suggest that i should do ? Do i have a defective unit ?in fact when it works is ok so it is not the CCD Camera for sure but is more like an OS problem to me.i have also reset the mobile many times to the default settings

Mar 23, 2010I have decided to install Garmin Mobile on my Nokia 5230. I have asked the official Garmin support for informations about Garmin Mobile and Symbiaa S60 v5. They answered that the last version of Garmin Mobile is v5.00.60 and in theory it should almost certain work with S60v5 operating system (the version v5.00.50 should too), but the product is discontinued so they are not 100% sure. They sent me a list where I can still buy Garmin Mobile but I am not sure to spend 100€ because I'm not totaly sure if this will work with Nokia 5230. There's lots of info about Garmin v5.00.40 and v5.00.50 working on Nokia 5800 but no info about Nokia 5230.Is there any Nokia 5230 user on this forum with Garmin Mobile installed? If yes which version of Garmin Mobile do you have?

Oct 14, 2012What is the most current ovi maps version for Nokia 5230? I have ovi_maps_installer_3.06_11wk7_b11_s60_5.0_nocs_beta and it is incredibly slow locating a position on the GPS. I don't use a data plan so I need to know where I can download the current version to my PC.The GPS on both my son's and wife's 5230 seems to snap to position in seconds. They both have one of the 3.03 versions. My 3.06 version takes several minutes in the same location. I had a lot of trouble in the Dominican Republic and in Colombia with 3.06. Could I switch the SIM card and memory card with my son's phone? Maybe it's the GPS circuit on my phone that is so slow.Is 3.09 available for the 5230? Ovi and Nokia seem to make it very difficult to find the latest version for a particular phone.

Feb 14, 2012I use lots of Sport tracker program. It should be possible to choose from settings that N8 phone's "light time-out" display setting is set OFF (now max value is 60 seconds ) as well as the "screen saver" (max value 5 minutes). While skiing I want to observe my heart rate all the time, and it is not possible from dark or un-bright screen. And it is difficult to touch the screen during skiing (and touching effects to the SportTracker's actions) for me because i use my N8 in my wrist like a watch under the plastic. In outdoors screen has to be bright. Although it consumes more battery, it is not a problem - battery can always be recharged after every workout. And btw: the new Bella's default screensaver clock is awful compared the old one. Where can I get the old one?

Apr 25, 2012I use together with my iPhone 4s a Jabra Sport BT Headset especially certified for apple devices. Sometimes, I can't hear music with it, because no sound is transmitted from my iPhone 4s. Normally this little airplay-symbol appears in the music-app, but sometimes it does not appear and I can#T choose the Jabra device.All other functions of the headset (make a call, receive a call, activate SIRI ... are running, the Headset is connected with the iphone but not with it's music!!)

May 29, 2010I have just received a "Blackberry Bold 9700 Unlocked International Version" which i purchased from Amazon.Com. "This is supposed to be a new unbranded unit".
The installed software version is 5.0.0.351 with platform 5.1.0.98 and branding version 1.0.160.529q.I have read in this forum that there is a later version of the os available yet when I utilized the BB desktop software updater, it say that the latest version is installed. Is this correct?
I also have other issues with applications. I am unable to download and install the "BlackBerry APP World"; I get a message, " Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support BlackBerry App World"
"Google talk" give an error messag: " Service not enabled for this hand held" "Blackberry maps" are not loaded on the handset.Setup wizard does not give me the option to set up my personal e-mail only enterprise e-mail.I am able to browse and send and receive MMS & SMS messages.
Kindly advise as to ho to resolve these issues and whether there is a more current software version for the handset, and if so: how do I update it.
IPhone 5s :: Back Lighting Works Intermittently / Touchscreen Works
Jun 4, 2014My phone has been acting up since installing the latest iOS 7.1.1. The back lighting for the screen works intermittetly. I have been able to get it to come back on by turning the phone off and back on, but not every time. Once I enabled VoiceOver through Siri and turned ScreenCurtain On and Off. Other times, just clicking the home button and a few times on a notification that would turn the back lighting on. The phone seems to want to respond to turning the back lighting on, but does not do it every time it should. It usually takes 10 - 30 minutes of me working with it to get it to come back on. The phone has not been dropped and is in an Otterbox case.

May 31, 2010I finally found a good headset that works, mic and all, to replace the **bleep** nokia one.As you may have found out if you waned a decent headset, nokia decided to screw its customers (in yet another way) my switching the mic and ground on the connecter.I was about to make my own adapter by cutting and resplicng a 2.5-3.5 adapter when I came across this headset with included adapter that does just that.They also sell the adapter separate, so you can use almost any 3-ring TRRS 3.5mm headset and have full function of the mic, answer/call button and sound in both ears.Here is the headset:
