Is there any way to connect mac and nokia 5230 via usb?
And how is it possible to get the maps onto the phone?
All information i've got til now is: that this phone is not supported by the mac-software that is available here.
I have recently bought a 5230 and cannot connect it with PC suite. I am using the cable connection as my p does not have a Bluetooth, but it has infra red which the phone does not.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm new and I have troubles with my new nokia. I haven't found a solution yet. I have a micro usb-cable with the label "AC 108" "CA 101" from a local handy-dealer. When I connect the phone via "PC Suite Mode" to my pc (windows xp sp2) neither OVI suite nor pc suite recognize the phone correctly. After a few minutes both applications fail and ask me to repeat the steps. I get the error message: pc suite does not recognize the connected phone. The connection between the pc and the phone failed, error code 0x80044403. I switch off phone, switch it on, and try again.
However the phone is recognized by windows correctly. I get a popup with choices to open the phone from "windows portable device". The phone is in the hardwaremanager under "portable devices", "modems" and "wireless communication devices". I have tried to deinstal the software, i tried the nokia pc suite cleaner and i tried the different usb-modes of the phone. when i choose "mediatransfer" the phone is recognized by ovi suite but it says to use the pc-suite mode instead.
Why can`t my PC read my mobile? I connect it with the USB, but the computer says that the device - nokia 5230 could not be read.

I just get the error message that my internet isn't working, which isn't the case.I've rebooted my pc, and restarted the phone, same problem. I can access ovi maps on the phone but just can't get it to connect with my pc.can anyone help?
View 4 Replies View Relatedloving my few 5230 generally, just ironing out some teething issues.i can stream Internet no probs on the net and from the Internet icon. however, on bbc mobile when i try to watch a video it says "cannot connect to server" on real player. i can download the video and watch it okay, but streaming appears to be an issue. on sky news site (not the mobile site, i don't think - is there one?) it says i don't have the required flash player. do some sites not support flash lite?are these issues normal and are there any apps for my device that will make streaming more prob-free?

However when I go to Ovi maps on my phone it always says connection failed, if I try to go to my location I get the red dot flashing searching for position then will go solid for a short while and start to flash again, it gives my location about 1 mile from where I am. Also from the OVI maps screen if I try to sign into my Nokia accost,(To get A-GPS I think) I get the message saying this requires you to go online, 'yes' brings up the connection failed message. I can browse the internet and go to face book etc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an 5230 model wich is working properly, expect one thing, when I switch it OFF, after it takes plenty of time while I can switch ON again. I keep pushing ON button for seconds (as in the manual) till the buzzer and NOKIA logo coming on screen but after 10-15 sec the screen turn dark again and nothing. Mobile is switched off again. I should do every time that process again for ages while finally it switch on.

Ovi Suite continually claims that The map is installed on my phone.I stqrt Ovi Maps on my phone, and after acquiring a strong signal, all i get is my co-ordinates, but no map is displayed. No terrain map, no satellite map, no street map.I've installed the app to phone two more times, and re-download and installed the map to my phone more than twice. Still the same problem.I've tried with both A-GPS and phone-only GPS. All signals from cell provider are very strong.Am i missing something, or is my phone having a brain-**bleep**? Having cell-independant GPS is what led me to grab this phone, as I'm out of cell range often. This is getting very frustrating and I'm starting to pull my hair out.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am a new owner of a Nokia Nuron 5230 (via T-Mobile USA) and I am extremely happy with it. Still, I have a couple of issues which I would like to solve with your help:
a) is there a way to turn off or, better, totally eliminate the idiotic T-Mobile jingle when the phone is turned on, and off? At the very least, can I somehow kill the sound of this horrible commercial?
b) in the OVI maps manual it says the following on how to save a place:
Save a place
1 In the map view, go to the location. To search for an address or place, select Search.
2 Press the scroll key.
My N5230 does not have a scroll key. What can I do?
c) still in Ovi Maps; I noticed that when I search for a place, it is a good idea to repeat the exact same search at least three times. Ovi Maps often finds nothing on the first or second try, but does find it on the third. Why is that?
d) again in Ovi Maps: when I am in the 'drive' mode and I have entered to point to drive to, I noticed that when a swipe my finger from right to left I get a 4 different kind of map views. Where can I find details about these views? (they are not documented in the manual I have)
e) last Ovi question: what is the best way to create a route and then look at it in a way similar to what GoogleMaps offers: a map covering start and finish, with the basic data (time, distance, etc.). I have not found a good way to create a route.

I tried in the phone. It is Factory Restore. This does not delete the phone memory.
I want to delete all the contents of the phone. Just like it came when it was new.

I now want to set the autokeyguard off but only seem to be able to set it to none or enter a time before the autokeyguard kicks in.
When I set it to none, the autokeyguard still kicks in.
I have see videos of nokia 5230 some have the pen stylus that you pull out from the phone and some don't have that but instead the Plectrum Stylus( the triangular plastic thing on a string)Are there different versions of the 5230 resulting in a pen stylus or not.

Nokia 5230 Not Switching on
I was charging my phone, it has a BL-5J battery and suddenly after a few mins it switched off. The battery is overheating, the phone is also heated a lot and can barely hold it.I took out the battery and let it cool for sometime but when I put it back the phone doesnt switch on.Even after charging again for a few mins it doesn't switch on. whats the problem exactly? the battery or the phone? its a few months old only.
Can someone pls help about how to get smiley's on Nokia 5230. It seems like A-SMS is not yet supporting this phone.

Windows 7 detects the device but fails to install it, which isn't something that surprises me.
