After updating to latest firmware v20.0.005, Nokia 5230 file manager backup won't work? It says that "memory is full" (which is NOT true - there's around 30mb free) and asks to "close applications" which is ridiculous as none besides menu and home screen is open?

I didnt even open any application other than that. even if i switch off and restart i get same error. also i am using the 2 GB memory card i got with phone pack. nokia memory card.
I have just bought a nokia 5230, and i'm shocked to see that gallery doesn't show the memory card contents! Why is it so? please help... the memory card could be read in the file manager though

I am having issues trying to backup my phone to the mini-SD card. Whenever I try to backup the phone, during the 'Preparing backup' stage I get the message:
File Manager : Memory Full. Close some applications and try again
I have uninstalled any unnecessary apps from the C: drive and cleared out unwanted files . This is how much memory I have available:
RAM : 51mb / 120mb
C: 41mb/86mb
D: 51mb/43mb
E: 5869mb/ 7596mb
I have recently carried out a hard reset on the handset and upgraded the software, so this is not the solution. This was a problem before doing this and remains an issue now. I know that I can backup the phone on my PC but I would like to resolve this so I can backup the phone on the fly.
Today I launched TuneWiki for the first time. Before that my phone memory was normal (not low). And after I registered at TuneWiki, the app scanned my music, and after that I got an error saying that: Disk space exhausted. Please cleanup the disk or re-install application on another drive. Well, the truth is, that I can't even uninstall it, because I get almost the same error. Tried to install the app again without uninstalling but the same happened.

I have been using my Nokia 5230 as normal for a couple of months, and have noticed that the phone memory is always full or close to full. I have a memory card on there which I use for all my music etc. After reading other posts I cleared my browser cache which freed up 7MB or so. I also discovered 16MB in installed applications. Yet I still have about 55MB unaccounted for. I then bought a USB cable to connect it to the computer and investigate on windows explorer. The properties of the root drive for the phone memory show as mostly in use, yet when I go through each of the individual folders nothing is there. I do not have many applications installed and they are set up to install on the memory card anyway.
Can anyone please solve my problem as to where on earth this 55MB of unaccounted memory is coming from?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen you start maps after having done a backup with the internal file manager, the GPS satellite dish symbol doesn't show up. Maps is not finding any route after showing the location based on UMTS. Although everythings looks ok in maps (you cannot see the missing GPS symbol), navigation will not work. Maps shows always the same location (looks like frozen). I had this now two time in heavy traffic in Aachen an Baden-Baden until I figured out the root cause.. To resolve the situation you need to switch off and on the N8. It is a night mare when you cannot restart the N8 while driving, and you cannot stop on a major street.The bug is reproducable. I hope it gets fixed fast. It's a pitty that maps doesn't show any error warning when getting started about the missing GPS. The recent Belle refresh had no solution to the problem. The bug is with both maps 3.08 and 3.09. Never do an automatic backup when you want to use maps.

I mean : if I want to move for example a picture from my internal phone memory to the External SD card , message pops up telling that the task failed.
Then I press on Task Details and a Hint pops up saying: Your system forbidsES from writing on external SD card(check [URL] .....), so ES can only write on it after rooted. I tried to enter this url but couldn't, an error occured saying :

1. It's got a 512mb stick in it and I'd like to replace it with something with greater capacity - say 4gb or 8gb - do I can put a lot more stuff on it. View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing the stock File Manager app I can see audio files on my Maxx HD's internal storage and also on the SD card. I happen to be looking at ringtone files. If I tap on the filename to play the ringtone, Amazon Cloudplayer pops up and shows all the music files on my SD card. No ringtones can be found. If I back out of Amazon Cloudplayer and use the file manager to try finding and playing ANY audio file on EITHER my SD card or the internal storage I get sent to Amazon Cloudplayer. I then have to use the back button to get back to the file manager icon in the App drawer. Same thing happens if I try to play audio files on my SD card. Amazon Cloud Player pops up. I don't want to use Amazon Cloud Player to play an audio file in SD storage.
If I connect my phone to my PC and navigate to the ringtones on internal storage and click on them they play as per usual (Windows media player). If I use my PC to play audio files on the SD card they play as usual.Why does my phone default to Amazon Cloud Player when I tap on an audio file in File Manager? What is the stock audio file player on the Maxx HD? Why can't I browse to an audio file with the file manager and tap on it and have it play? How do I fix this?
Why is there no File no standardized file manager or explorer concept where you can manage your data on your Micro SD card. Select lots of files and move them into a folder. Rotate mulitple pictures and email mulitiple file easily? Why is this not standardized on all blackberrys
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do have a few months old X6, which has worked quite fine so far. Now, surprisingly Music Player gives just "System Error" when trying to use it i.e. trying to play a song from the lists. I can play the songs direct from the X6 file manager, but not by the Music Player.
I've done all the normal stuff, e.g. installed firmware again, hard reset, etc. without any success. Seems to be that the library index, or related has been corrupted. Library updating does not work neither. Any ideas? Does anyone now where to find the library index (or related) file to be deleted? And furthermore to re-build the index again?
By mistake I deleted a file from phone memory in the file manager. Is to important to have all the orgianal files in the file manager or do I reload the software. What do I do. i have a E 7.
