Motorola Xoom :: Delete Text One Letter At A Time?
May 28, 2011I can only delete text one letter at a time, using the backspace key on the xoom built in keyboard, and that seems reeeally slow to me. There must be another way, right?

Motorola Xoom :: Browser Still Has Weird Graphics Effects From Time To Time?
Jun 19, 2011Although the browser is significantly improved from 3.0, it still has the distinction of being the only app I've seen with bizarre graphics effects. They don't happen with the same frequency as before 3.1 but they are still pretty freakish.Just a few minutes ago, I wanted to post about the delay switching between apps, and I woke my tablet up, hit the home button (leaving the apps market) and flipped over to my bookmarks screen and tapped the one for Motorola Forum. I was presented with a screen which flickered extremely rapidly between a partially rendered apps market and the browser. This continued for maybe half a minute, until the apps market finally won out. The browser must have died, since it was not in the recent apps list when I then checked it. However, the usual dialog to force close or report was not given.
I launched the browser again, logged into this forum, and tapped start discussion, and I was given the form to do so, but when I tapped the subject textbox, it did not render the typical focus border and flashing caret, and even though the keyboard (I use swipeIt) would let me enter words, they were not being displayed in the textbox (although tapping the textbox again, positioned the caret as if there were characters in the box)

May 4, 2011I have the Xoom set to automatic date/time. I turn on Airplane mode (with WiFi on) to conserve battery. Runs most of the day at the office OK. I think it is OK at home as well. Plug it in to charge overnight (Xoom still on). Wake up in the morning and the time is all wrong.
I then turn Airplane mode off. The Xoom connects to 3G and sets the clock again.
Can't figure out why the clock (once automatically set to the right time), would change after a period of time.

Apr 25, 2012My Xoom has always had some issues picking up the wifi signal in my house (probably due to the old lathe and plaster walls), so I installed a Hawking HWREN1 Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Range Extender to give me better range.
This has worked marvelously... until my husband's Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 plus entered the picture. Now, whenever he gets online with his G-tab, my Xoom will lose connection. Perhaps, not lose connection per se... if I stand in the room where the router (or range extender) is located, web pages will load. However, if I am anywhere near his G-tab, pages will time out and not load.
I am not educated enough to know if this is a RFI issue, or something I can configure differently so we can both be connected simultaneously. It is almost as if his tab is hogging all of the bandwidth...

The gtalk remains online while i am using xoom but then after standby time my status goes to idle for the friends in my contact list and if they send me any message in this state I cant receive them and if they try to call me then the caller party hears the bell that as if it should be while someone calls on gtalk but i cant get the notification of call or any ring. Why Gtalk cant get calls on my xoom although it seems online to others in standby mode......is it some bug in android?

Apr 11, 2012Some text fields, not many, will automatically capitalise the first letter typed. It doesn't happen consistently enough for me to get into the habit of always looking at the icon and it's really annoying. What's more, if I *did* want a capital letter, and have held the shift key down, I get a lower case letter!

Jan 27, 2012I'm having a strange issue on my Wifi Xoom (running the recently pushed ICS). I recently installed an app (the Caustic demo) from the market. Caustic sets up a basic file structure in storage for storing instrument sample files. Well, after uninstalling the demo, I went to remove the leftover files (via ASTRO) and it said "Error deleting files". I dig into the subdir and tried some individual files, but got the same result. I tried another file manager (EStrongs) but got the same result. I then tried mounting on Windows and deleting that way. It appeared to work (crunched for a second, then the files disappeared without any errors given). But the files still show up in ASTRO, and when I re-mount on Windows, they're still there.
Oh and this is only happening with this directory. Other files and directories can be deleted just fine. Is there a problem with my Xoom, or did the app author do something improper with setting up the directory?

Jun 2, 2011How to delete unwanted picture data from gallery (XOOM) It's not that simple, in this case. I recently discovered somehow I had downloaded over 490 images into my gallery. Some 21 say Blogger pictures, and 459 are entitled from my Wordpress blog. I don't have a clue how they got on my tablet, and there are many duplicates. The option to delete was not there, just a bunch of places to send the pictures to: Picassa, Gmail, email, etc.
Go to Settings > Applications>Manage Applications > All, and scroll down to find Gallery. Tap to open it up, do a Force Stop first, if open. Then tap Clear Data. I only had 12 pictures on my tablet at this point so I emailed them all to myself, in the event they went poof. Then I held my breath, hit Clear Data, then went in and looked at my Gallery. The downloaded data was gone, all 490+ pictures, and the best part is, my pictures were still there! Those, I can delete from the Xoom, no problem.
Next, I went back into my Gallery, and to my dismay, right before my eyes, those 490+ pictures that were gone, began reloading back into my gallery! Where are they coming from?!?! 21 of them say Blogger Photos, and 459 are entitled "Stella's Blog". I don't have either app on my tablet, I can access either blog by using my browser, and have only done so a couple times. Next, I rebooted the tablet, went back to check the Gallery, and yes, the images were gone, but then they came right back again....where are they coming from and how do I get rid of them permanently?

Dec 11, 2011Swype used to work fine for me, but for the last month or so it does not work at all.I repeatedly get a pop up saying I have to upgrade (at beta.swype), or that the screen size is not right.I install again and again but still it does not work.The trace line appears on the keyboard ok, but the finished word does not appear in the text box. After finishing the word, both shift keys light up.All input modes are set to Swype, but it makes no difference.I should add that "normal" text input works ok on the Swype keyboard.

May 19, 2011I was having problems with the Canadian dictionary, I wanted to remove miss spelled words I accidentally added. Funny I got it! There is a bit of a bug so I thought I would past anyway. While there are no added words under Language Settings > User dictionary (if you are using the Canadian dictionary) you get this message - "You do not have words in your dictionary you can add words through the menu" but if you switch to the US Dictionary you will find he words that have been added. Note. I use the predictive text as a spell checker and I am impressed. Got to settings > Language & input >configure input methods > Settings > change Auto correction to aggressive. Only issue is added words are not added to the default language dictionary but the US one.

Nov 1, 2011I really wish the Photon would display the actual time when an incoming text was sent rather than the time the phone received it. For instance, someone sends me a text at 3am while my phone is turned off. Then at 8am I turn it back on and received the text. But I have no idea what time the text was actually sent because it will be marked as 8am. With previous phones I had it would always show the actual time it was sent. Is this a bug or are all android phones like this?
