Motorola Xoom :: Why Does Windows Think It Is An Ipod
Apr 22, 2012
When I browse the files in my Xoom MZ604 using Windows the display shows Name, Type, Size, Track, Artist, Album, Year, Duration. The files are mainly jpeg images, I could see Name, Size, Take Taken and Tags. This is what Windows Displays for my internal and external hard drives.
Why does Winodws not regard the MZ604 in the same way? Is there any way to inform Windows that the tablet is actually external storage, or a separate computer?
All of a sudden, when I plug my Xoom via USB into either of my computers (Win 7 x32 or Win 7 x64) the computer recognizes the Xoom, I can see the Internal Storage and the SD Card, but when I open either of these, I see no files. THe only directory that shows up on the Internal Storage is the Android directory.
I want to transfer some videos and photos from my Xoom to my computer (which has Windows XP and Windows Media Player 11). My understanding is that this combination only allows a transfer FROM the computer TO the tablet -- what do I need to make the transfer in the other direction?
I've downloaded some mp4 videos and noticed something strange.1 - When I plug xoom to my Windows 7 notebook, some of these files don't show up, no matter what I do.2 - The Gallery app doesn't show them either.3 - I can play them just fine with the defaut video player if I use any file manager to see the filesIt doesn't really matter where the files are. The videos that do show up can be in any folder and they both show up in gallery and on windows.
I just bought the wifi xoom model and I need to get my music on it. I use napster and need to get it to recognize my xoom. I also tried to get my music from windows media center and it recognized my device but said it couldn't sync but gave no reason why.
I'm having an issue that has been plaguing me for quite some time now. It's seemed to get worse over time as well. The issue is when I click on something which would normally launch another application or window, the screen slightly dims and nothing happens. I tap the screen again and the brightness returns as if the window that was open is closed now. This IS NOT a screen brightness issue.for instance, I go into the "Videos" app and tap on a video shot from the xoom. The screen slightly darkens and then nothing happens. No video shows. Not even the player. Another example is in Gmail. I can click on a link to a website and the screen darkens and nothing happens. Tapping on the screen brings the original brightness back. Yet another example is from the gallery, I tap on the video I want to watch and it opens up the player. I tap play and the screen darkens up and nothing happens.I've tried a "hard" reset using volume up and power simultaneously to no avail. I have also deleted/removed all of my apps I have installed in the last month to month and a half
So I had music on my xoom but accidently deleted it. I tried going in my computer files to copy and paste songs from my itunes into my folder on xoom called music but says wrong format. I don't know what to do.
I bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open. The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?
Has anyone had any success with using Wifi that required user certificates? I'm trying to get my Xoom to connect to the corporate network (EAP-TLS) and followed the instructions for the IPad and imported my certificated into Android correctly. But when I connect, it hangs at the connecting state for minutes, before finally giving up.
I would like to buy the XOOM speaker dock and play music from my XOOM on a daily basis.... I'm worried about having it plugged (and charging) in too much and that I might GREATLY reduce the battery life by charging my XOOM too much.
Can anyone recommend an app that will allow me to show .ppt files diretly on the Xoom non-US model? I had an idea it was possible with an app included in US Xooms but not to us outside the USA.
I recently bought an iPod Touch and love it. (No, I don't want to buy an iPhone). I really liked my Moto Q, but then bought a used Q9C because I thought that it, along with a Cradlepoint PHS300, would allow me to utilize my iPod Touch when no hotspots were around.Well, so far no joy, but that's another story (and several threads). The question here is:
1) If I upgrade to a Touch Pro 2 (or other SERO-compatible phone), will I have an easier time "tethering" the iPod Touch? I've already sunk $100 into the PHS300, so if I act quickly, I can return the PHS300 and get the Touch Pro 2 for "only" another $100 or $200.(I do NOT have "phone-as-modem" [PAM] on my plan)
2) If I say 'forget my SERO' and get an Android phone, how will I fare?
I have BB Desktop Manager 5.0.1 and I am un able to syncronize my Contacts with Windows Live Mail from Windows 7. The only options the Desktop Manager offers are: Outlook Express, Importad./Exportad. ASCII adn Yahoo.
I'm trying to download my music but WP8 uses the Windows Phone App client in Windows 8. Wll, when I tried connecting my phone, it says "Your phone is having troubles" error message. The instruction says to power off the phone. But no luck. Tried searching MS community but nothing there (but I won't rule out I didn't search well. Also, I posted the same question there and waiting for a response.)
I recently activated a refurbished motorola q (until iPhone 5 comes out) and I am having an issue in which texts from other carriers i.e AT&T, sprint, only show the first character of the text message. I am however able to receive full texts messages from verizon wireless subscribers. I am able to send text messages with out any problem to all parties. I contacted both verizon and motorola technical support and they basically pointed fingers at each other. Has any one else had this issue or know of a fix?
I have a 32GB external SD card in my phone, alongside the normal 8gb internal user space. When I connect the phone to Windows 7, the device lists a single External Storage drive which includes folders from both the external and internal storage merged into one. When I tried to copy my 13gb of MP3 onto the device, everything seemed to be going ok for a while and then suddenly the copy failed (in Windows). I opened the phone up and saw a notification about the internal storage being low. Using the file browser I discovered that the Music folder had been created on both the internal storage and external card and most of the music I had copied had gone into the internal storage, fully consuming the 8gb space that was there, and then some of the music was copied over to the external storage before it suddenly noticed it ran out of internal storage space and threw the error. So now, after spending a good hour copying the files over in the first place, I have to spend yet more time moving them from the internal storage card to the external where I actually wanted them in the first place, and then continue copying the music over that wasn't copied in the first place.
Anyway this seems completely insane to join the two drives together in windows, especially because it copies to the internal storage first instead of the external storage. Is there a way to force Windows 7 to show me the storage devices separately on the phone so I can manage them in a sane way?
This post is for all of us who bought the Xoom because 4g speed was an important factor to us. We've been informed by email that our Xoom 4G upgrade will be available in September (2011), early Sept or late Sept who knows. We'll also have to send the Xoom back for the upgrade so the inconvenience factor to get our 4g is high.
Well for those of us [i.e. myself] who bought early in the hopes that Motorola would exceed our personal expectations and put the upgrade in our Xooms quickly after the initial Xoom release on Feb 24, 2011, we've been disappointed with this unreasonably long delay.
The bar of what we expect from Motorola is now set by the Galaxy tab 4G and the tab speeds are, well, phenomenal.[URL].. So, a personal observation, the upgrade had better be stellar and fast now that the Xoom will [maybe?] be the No. 2 4g tablet on the Verizon network. You can't win the first to 4g tablet market race but you sure better not blow the performance side of 4g.
Prolly useless to be asking here, but does anyone have it?Yes it does exist. So don't go on that you know more then I.If you have it, and wish to make arrangements I am a private message away.
Any possibility the developers can write the next version as a service instead of an executable? It can be unstable at times and having the ability to restart itself when problems arise would be great.
I have installedMotorola 5.2.0 Driver with MotoHelper but I still can't get my computers to recognize the device. Always says Unknown Device when i connect it.
it won't connect to my laptop by Bluetooth. Both devices will find each other and get as far as putting in the code to make sure they are the right device, then my computer confirms the connection and my phone shows up in Bluetooth devices, but on my phone is shows paired but not connected and there is no option to connect, only to unpair.

This might be a silly question, but is there video calling capability on the LG Quantum or on any windows 7 phone? Skype hasn't made anything yet but is there anything there at all in the video calling realm?sent from my LG-C900 via the HowardForums WP7 App?
