View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently got new Xoom tablet from my senior and I connected it to my Win 7 - 32 bit laptop via a USB cable and it says the device drivers are not installed.I have tried:
1) Enabling USB debugging mode
2) Downloading motohelp drivers from your site the latest one.
3) Switch my tablet on and off and on
4) Restart my machine couple of times.
5) Tried on all the available USB slots on my laptop.
6) Updating drivers via Device Manager ->Update driver.
7) Followed all other solutions which are mentioned on forums and internet. It worked on my Win 7 64 bit in my office but not even getting detected on my IBM T461 Win 7 32 bit laptop.I used USB cable ofmy HTC desire smart phone both times.
I would like to think that I am somewhat OK with using the XOOM based on the fact that I have an original DROID and have been dealing with the ANDROID OS for some time now. I have yet to load any files on the XOOM itself, but I was wondering how I go about accessing files once they are put on the XOOM. I have uploaded pictures and placed those in the picture folder but they are easy to find due to the gallery. When plugged into my laptop I can see all of the different folders, but I cannot figure out how to get to them when not plugged into the laptop. You can do a long touch on the DROID homescreen and it will give you the options of seeing, shortcuts, widgets, folders and wallpapers. This is how I would access files with the DROID. It does not work the same for the XOOM.

View 8 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately my tablet is not recognized as an MTP device by my computer (I'm using Linux). So, I tried something else: I usually use an application named SwiFTP (an FTP server) on my Android devices. But I don't understand why, this app and all the others FTP apps I tried won't work on my Xoom 2ME. I suspect some kind of Motorola's internal firewall.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUsually, I have no problems making the USB connection to my Xoom work. I've been using it for nearly a year with no problems. Today, I noticed that when I connect my USB cable, I can see both the Internal Storage and SD Card devices. However, when I click on the SD Card, I don't see any files. I can see them just fine if I use a file manager on the Xoom so I know that they're there. I just can't see them with my Win7 box. It does know how much space on the SD Card is used/available so it's at least getting some information.
I installed the Motorola drivers to see if that would help but it didn't. I've also rebooted both devices and tried a different USB port on my PC.
I use my xoom for job searches. If I find a job and go to web page to up load resume, upload fails. It states file for mat is incorrect. I have verified file format is correct, any suggestions for fix?Could it be the path for the file location?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden, when I plug my Xoom via USB into either of my computers (Win 7 x32 or Win 7 x64) the computer recognizes the Xoom, I can see the Internal Storage and the SD Card, but when I open either of these, I see no files. THe only directory that shows up on the Internal Storage is the Android directory.
View 9 Replies View RelatedToday, I attempted to open a couple of .txt files by clicking on them. The same thing happened when I tried to open a .jpg photo.I tried tapping on the icon and I tried holding it down, double clicking, etc. Either I forgot what to do to open a file or something has changed on my Xoom.

View 8 Replies View RelatedRecently, I have been unable to open files or access links on my Xoom. For example, when I go into my downloads and touch the screen to open (say) a PDF file, the screen goes dull and then returns to normal brightness and my file doesn't open. If I go into Documents to Go and open the PDF file it seems to work OK however?Same thing is happening with video files, for example I touch a video file to open it in VPlayer and, again, the screen goes dull and I can't access the video. Same with music whcih I can only access through the music player, not through other routes such as Astro file manager etc. Also when I try to open some links to websites embedded in emails etc the screen goes dull and then bright again and the links don't work.

View 12 Replies View RelatedIn the process of preparing my Xoom for its return to Motorola for an LTE upgrade, I attempted to backup up "Internal Storage" to two different Windows XP machines. Despite numerous hard resets of the Xoom and numerous restarts of the XP machines, I had numerous problems in successfully copying all files. Despite selecting all folders, less than half would transfer during copy/paste. At least one file name in the "Android" folder was too long for Windows XP, but I didn't have time to find it(them). Moreover, 14gb of files disappeared from my external SD card, as did several folders from the internal SD card. I am an above-average computer user, and have never had this kind of trouble
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I download a PDF or some other word file where does it go? I'd like to get rid of some of the "garbage" that has been downloaded and worked with but I can't find it on my XOOM. My pad is not rooted and I am using the basic software on it. Where I can find the files and how to get rid of them easy? I am with Verizon and still running 3.1 and in California.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am following the instructions to copy the files from my xoom to a windows 7 PC (64 bit). It does not copy all the files and folders. For example when I do the select all instructed I only get 4 of the 13GB of data. I saw that it only copied the music files in the directory music, none of the sub-directories. I could then select all the folders in music and copy them over (none of my music on the xoom has any DRM). I was still missing some files. When I hook the xoom up via the USB cable I get the following mounted:
ComputerXoomInternal Storage
I can not drag Internal Storage to the folder created on the windows 7 pc, it is just a red circle with a line thru it. I can select all the directories/folders under Internal Storage, but it randomly picks which directories/files/sub-directories to copy.
Perhaps a problem with the win 7 pc driver?
Before I send the xoom off (and I have my packing box already) I would like to back it up completely.
I received my 3.1 update this morning and now I can no longer play the three video files that reside on my Xoom. I created them with Freemake Video Converter. I can, however, play a video that I recorded with the built-in application (recorded after the update).

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm having a strange issue on my Wifi Xoom (running the recently pushed ICS). I recently installed an app (the Caustic demo) from the market. Caustic sets up a basic file structure in storage for storing instrument sample files. Well, after uninstalling the demo, I went to remove the leftover files (via ASTRO) and it said "Error deleting files". I dig into the subdir and tried some individual files, but got the same result. I tried another file manager (EStrongs) but got the same result. I then tried mounting on Windows and deleting that way. It appeared to work (crunched for a second, then the files disappeared without any errors given). But the files still show up in ASTRO, and when I re-mount on Windows, they're still there.
Oh and this is only happening with this directory. Other files and directories can be deleted just fine. Is there a problem with my Xoom, or did the app author do something improper with setting up the directory?
Why has Motorola stopped uploading the IMG files to the Moto Dev site, the latest update is 3.1? I know Moto for some reason decides to always wait until the files are technically obsolete when they upload them, and 3.0.1 was a "minor" update, but its a pain having to flash back to 3.1 just to start totally fresh.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded some mp4 videos and noticed something strange.1 - When I plug xoom to my Windows 7 notebook, some of these files don't show up, no matter what I do.2 - The Gallery app doesn't show them either.3 - I can play them just fine with the defaut video player if I use any file manager to see the filesIt doesn't really matter where the files are. The videos that do show up can be in any folder and they both show up in gallery and on windows.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed on different websites and forums that people are having problem attaching album covers to albums they've added to their native Xoom music player. In order to ensure all your music has the appropriate albums attached, I would suggest using Windows Media Player. The steps are as follows.
Step 1. Add music to the "Library" with the list of songs from your artist of choice.
Step 2. Then browse to the album that is missing art.
Step 3. Using either Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer, in another window, find a picture that you want to use for album art (the picture can be in a file on your computer or on a webpage), right-click the picture, and then click Copy.
Step 4. In your library, right-click the album art box, and then click Paste Album Art.
A copy of the picture is embedded into each of the songs from that album. The copy of the picture is automatically scaled to the appropriate size and converted to the JPEG format before it is embedded in the file. The original picture file is not modified.
Step 5. Drag files from your library to the "Sync" tab, then sync songs to your Xoom. Now when you check your Xoom you should have all the album artwork attached to your albums.
I put a couple of albums on a Mirco SD card and inserted it into my Xoom. The card shows up under /mnt/external1The albums are there and I can select each song individually and play them using the default "Music" player, RockPlayer, or Winamp. What I can't figure out is how to get any of those Media Players to read from the SD Card automatically?

They just don't show up in Gallery. I can open them from ES File Explorer fine. Same with Music, I can open /sdcard/Music and all my music is there but when I open the Music App, it reports"You don't have any music in your library." I can open any song from the file explorer. Also I can no longer see any files in storage when I connect my Xoom via USB to my Win7 pc, the internal storage shows up but is empty.
