Motorola Xoom :: Attaching File From Dropbox To Email?
Jan 17, 2012
On my laptop, Dropbox saves files locally to c:/dropbox but I can't find a similar location on my Xoom's file manager.I can ask the Dropbox people but I suspect they will tell me to ask in a forum where the file management system of my device is known.
I've noticed on different websites and forums that people are having problem attaching album covers to albums they've added to their native Xoom music player. In order to ensure all your music has the appropriate albums attached, I would suggest using Windows Media Player. The steps are as follows.
Step 1. Add music to the "Library" with the list of songs from your artist of choice.
Step 2. Then browse to the album that is missing art.
Step 3. Using either Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer, in another window, find a picture that you want to use for album art (the picture can be in a file on your computer or on a webpage), right-click the picture, and then click Copy.
Step 4. In your library, right-click the album art box, and then click Paste Album Art.
A copy of the picture is embedded into each of the songs from that album. The copy of the picture is automatically scaled to the appropriate size and converted to the JPEG format before it is embedded in the file. The original picture file is not modified.
Step 5. Drag files from your library to the "Sync" tab, then sync songs to your Xoom. Now when you check your Xoom you should have all the album artwork attached to your albums.
In the past when I clicked on a .PDF file, a PDF reader opened the file and I could read it. How do I set adobe PDF reader as the default PDF reader and get it to open my PDF?
I just installed a new app I found in the latest issue of PC Magazine. It is called Software Data Cable. It provides ftp file transfer between an Android device and your PC. It works best with Filezilla Client to transfer files over your wifi network. Works excellent with my Xooom with ICS. Fast and no USB cable needed. Only negative is that it seems to only see the internal SD storage.
I used the XOOM stock browser, and went to a web site that provides a visitor to download a file from it's web page by clicking on the file's label. By doing so, there is an arrow downloading shown on my XOOM, but it failed afterward. I let it ran for a while and then it failed. I am not be able to download anything from any web sites.
Is there any way to get correct this problem? The work around that I did was to downloading the file to my PC (using Chrome browser), and then moved it to XOOM.
Can you manually update the Xoom (ICS 4.0.3) to ICS 4.0.4 from an availability update file downloaded from the web? I have not receved the OTA and was wondering.
I am unable to transfer files (pictures specifically) from my Win 7 32 bit PC to my Xoom via USB. I can copy files from my Xoom but not to it. The copy progress bar comes up but stops before completion. I have no problem copying files from my old XP machine so it appears to be something in Win 7 or my particular set up causing the problem.
I use a Mac (OSX 10.5.8) at work and would like to be able to tranfer some files to my Xoom. I didn't try it until after the ICS update, but whenever I plug in my Xoom, the Android File Transfer program pops up, then crashes. I've tried restarting both the Xoom and my Mac multiple times. Does anybody have any ideas to make it work?
I'm trying to determine if there is a relatively simple way around this. I need to transfer a 5GB file to the external micro SD card but cannot due to the file size limitations for FAT on the micro SD. Reformating it to NTFS will not work as the xoom cannot read that file type...
how to read in raw image files direct from my dslr. I have an OTG cable that is connected to the micro-usb. If i set the camera to jpeg it will launch the gallery and allow me to import these so i know the cables work, the images can be imported and stored on the xoom. Have also read variuos things that say direct raw import are not possible but am not sure if this is now out of date. I also know rawdroid works ok once i can get the files on the xoom so have my raw viewer sorted. Now, if i try and use file manager and check at the /mnt directory i can't see a way to find the sd card in the camera to try and copy them over. This was one of the key things i wanted to get working on this when i bought it.
I downloaded three different file shareing apps on my Xoom and I can't get any of them to work. Then I downloaded a ping app and I noticed that I can't ping any devices on my network even tough I'm conected to the internet just fine. I've looked at all the blogs and can't figure this one out.
a pdf reader that will open a PDF file with saved bookmarks? I have Adobe Acrobat X Pro and saved a large PDF file with 20 bookmarks. When I open on my computer the bookmarks are in the document. When I open on my Xoom the bookmarks are gone or I don't know how to access them. I have used Acrobat Reader, ezPDF, OfficeSuite, and Quickoffice but none show the saved bookmarks.
I have a new Lumia 950 with Windows 10 Mobile. I got an email from a friend requesting a specific file. I have it on OneDrive so I clicked the paperclip and selected OneDrive. I quickly found the file, clicked on it and it showed "downloading". I clicked done and went back to my email. The file shows as an attachment and gives the size (36.6 KB). I typed a reply back to my friend and sent the file. He received it with no attachment. I tried it again, same response. The only way I can seem to get this file to him is to open OneDrive, click select, select the file and go through the share sequence to email it. Not really user friendly.Used to be easy in WinPhone 8.
A new issue with the 3.2 update. I set the speaker volume to zero and pressed OK. Later I attempted to reset the volume to full on. Next I initiated an MP4 movie (using the latest Quicktime); the movie plays fine but with no sound. I stop the movie go back to the sound setting and it has reset itself to zero. The same result with an MP3 music file. Is this a software compatibility issue?
I have been copying data over to a 32GB SanDisk MicroSDHC (Class 4) card via the Android File Transfer app via USB. I am noticing that the file sizes do not match between the local HDD directory on my mac and the AFT app. Here are two examples: 1> a text document shows as 2.2MB within Finder, but in the AFT it shows as 2.1MB; 2> a Video file shows as 132.6MB in Finder and in AFT it shows as 126.4MB. I have confirmed that I can open the text file and play the video, so I'm not sure why the file sizes are off. I am also seeing AFT not displaying directories which are indeed present on the SDCard. These directories are not empty. I can access them via both ES Explorer and the Terminal app on the device, but when I plug in the device to USB and fire up AFT, the directories/files are not present.
So I just got a microSD card for my Xoom and understand that I'm not able to simply move movies and music using the internal file system from the Xoom internal memory to the SD card. So fine, I'll re-copy them from my PC to the SD card. But what about when my Google Music syncs, is it going to copy the Music to SD card with the other copied music? or still in internal memory? What about camera pictures and movies? Can you set it to save on the SD card? It take it apps cannot be 'moved to media area' either?onder when Google is going to fix these restrictions to their file system. 10 months later after release of Honeycomb seems a bit long to fix a basic file system function.
I'm not sure how to describe this annoyance, but hopefully someone knows how to resolve the issue.About a month ago I received a spam Email (AOL) which I have linked to the default Email client.I deleted the Email without opening the Email but ever since the header appears everytime I receive a new Email notification in the systray.Fortunately it wasn't anything of a comprmising nature just a sales pitch for the "Original Orgreenic Pan".I've tried removing the account as well as deleting the email cache to no avail.
I have tried all combinations I can think of but cannot attach a file on the Droid to an outbound e-mail.
I start to compose, put in the address, move to the body, hit the menu button, select attach file, select a file..... and then I get dumped back out at the inbox and when I open the draft, there is the original e-mail address and a new one too. but no attachment.
while I was working from my laptop for a few days I didn't want mail being duplicated on to my Xoom too so I did something that prevented mail from downloading.I have two email accounts set up and they have both worked fine previously. One is an Exchange account and the other is not.Unfortunately I can't remember what I did and now that I want to receive email on my tablet again I can't do it. Can't even send a test message. I've gone through account settings and my server details are correct, got it set to 15 minutes inbox check, ticked email notifications, got the servers checked to sync, etc. What other settings am I missing that may be behind this problem
I have three POP3 comcast accts set up, currently scheduled to refresh every 10 mins. The application is just not loading new emails; even when I try to manually refresh the refresh icon just spins ans spins with no progress- not good.
I have the original Xoom 4G, Android 4.0.4 and use it every day. Here's my issue .... When I delete an email message, I get a new email notification shortly after. If I delete 3 messages, I get a notification that I have 3 new messages.Of course when I check, there are none. I tried removing the email account and reconfiguring it, but that didn't help.
I have a corporate email account, and we employ Exchange Server 2003, and I've set up my Xoom to sync using the corporate settings which use Exchange ActiveSync (I believe). The documentation for ICS 4.0 states that the update brings "improved email": "To help you locate and organize IMAP and Exchange email, the Email app now supports nested mail subfolders, each with synchronization rules. You can also search across folders on the server, for faster results." (link to the full article is here: [URL]
