In the past when I clicked on a .PDF file, a PDF reader opened the file and I could read it. How do I set adobe PDF reader as the default PDF reader and get it to open my PDF?
View 2 RepliesRecently I discovered that I could not open PNG type file attachments. LP would just spin it's wheels with no display. The solution was to install an app which could handle PNG file types ... Fast Image Viewer.
Then I realized I needed more control over which apps are used with specific file types.
(Similiar to Windows Open With option.)
I discovered the app ... Better Open With ... which permits the user some control and visibility.
BOW permits the user to set the default app used to open each catergory of file types.
You also can change the default app as desired...and override the default if needed.
The app replaces the Android "Complete Action Using" function.
So far so good ... I have more control! I do wish it listed the actual file types ... not just file categories.
Running on xt910 stock 2.3.5 (73.30) in eastern EU.
I noticed that after connecting my phone to my computer and choosing USB Mass storage mode my custom ringtones (/media/ dir. on the internal SD card) associations to contacts and global ringtones/notifications settings are lost. This may be caused because android unmounts the SD card from itself when connecting it to the computer (to avoid cross-locking scenarios).
The problem is, that custom ringtones & notifications aren't restored after the SD card (internal) is remounted, USB mode set to charge only/USB removed.
I think it is a general Androis OS problem - the question is, anybody else noticed this or is this known & corrected in 4.0.4?
I just installed a new app I found in the latest issue of PC Magazine. It is called Software Data Cable. It provides ftp file transfer between an Android device and your PC. It works best with Filezilla Client to transfer files over your wifi network. Works excellent with my Xooom with ICS. Fast and no USB cable needed. Only negative is that it seems to only see the internal SD storage.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI used the XOOM stock browser, and went to a web site that provides a visitor to download a file from it's web page by clicking on the file's label. By doing so, there is an arrow downloading shown on my XOOM, but it failed afterward. I let it ran for a while and then it failed. I am not be able to download anything from any web sites.
Is there any way to get correct this problem? The work around that I did was to downloading the file to my PC (using Chrome browser), and then moved it to XOOM.
Can you manually update the Xoom (ICS 4.0.3) to ICS 4.0.4 from an availability update file downloaded from the web? I have not receved the OTA and was wondering.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am unable to transfer files (pictures specifically) from my Win 7 32 bit PC to my Xoom via USB. I can copy files from my Xoom but not to it. The copy progress bar comes up but stops before completion. I have no problem copying files from my old XP machine so it appears to be something in Win 7 or my particular set up causing the problem.

I didn't try it until after the ICS update, but whenever I plug in my Xoom, the Android File Transfer program pops up, then crashes. I've tried restarting both the Xoom and my Mac multiple times. View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to read in raw image files direct from my dslr. I have an OTG cable that is connected to the micro-usb. If i set the camera to jpeg it will launch the gallery and allow me to import these so i know the cables work, the images can be imported and stored on the xoom. Have also read variuos things that say direct raw import are not possible but am not sure if this is now out of date. I also know rawdroid works ok once i can get the files on the xoom so have my raw viewer sorted. Now, if i try and use file manager and check at the /mnt directory i can't see a way to find the sd card in the camera to try and copy them over. This was one of the key things i wanted to get working on this when i bought it.

When I open on my computer the bookmarks are in the document. When I open on my Xoom the bookmarks are gone or I don't know how to access them. I have used Acrobat Reader, ezPDF, OfficeSuite, and Quickoffice but none show the saved bookmarks.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA new issue with the 3.2 update. I set the speaker volume to zero and pressed OK. Later I attempted to reset the volume to full on. Next I initiated an MP4 movie (using the latest Quicktime); the movie plays fine but with no sound. I stop the movie go back to the sound setting and it has reset itself to zero. The same result with an MP3 music file. Is this a software compatibility issue?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been copying data over to a 32GB SanDisk MicroSDHC (Class 4) card via the Android File Transfer app via USB. I am noticing that the file sizes do not match between the local HDD directory on my mac and the AFT app. Here are two examples: 1> a text document shows as 2.2MB within Finder, but in the AFT it shows as 2.1MB; 2> a Video file shows as 132.6MB in Finder and in AFT it shows as 126.4MB. I have confirmed that I can open the text file and play the video, so I'm not sure why the file sizes are off. I am also seeing AFT not displaying directories which are indeed present on the SDCard. These directories are not empty. I can access them via both ES Explorer and the Terminal app on the device, but when I plug in the device to USB and fire up AFT, the directories/files are not present.

So fine, I'll re-copy them from my PC to the SD card.But what about when my Google Music syncs, is it going to copy the Music to SD card with the other copied music? or still in internal memory? What about camera pictures and movies? Can you set it to save on the SD card? View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing the stock File Manager app I can see audio files on my Maxx HD's internal storage and also on the SD card. I happen to be looking at ringtone files. If I tap on the filename to play the ringtone, Amazon Cloudplayer pops up and shows all the music files on my SD card. No ringtones can be found. If I back out of Amazon Cloudplayer and use the file manager to try finding and playing ANY audio file on EITHER my SD card or the internal storage I get sent to Amazon Cloudplayer. I then have to use the back button to get back to the file manager icon in the App drawer. Same thing happens if I try to play audio files on my SD card. Amazon Cloud Player pops up. I don't want to use Amazon Cloud Player to play an audio file in SD storage.
If I connect my phone to my PC and navigate to the ringtones on internal storage and click on them they play as per usual (Windows media player). If I use my PC to play audio files on the SD card they play as usual.Why does my phone default to Amazon Cloud Player when I tap on an audio file in File Manager? What is the stock audio file player on the Maxx HD? Why can't I browse to an audio file with the file manager and tap on it and have it play? How do I fix this?
So I had music on my xoom but accidently deleted it. I tried going in my computer files to copy and paste songs from my itunes into my folder on xoom called music but says wrong format. I don't know what to do.

The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open.The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?

We've been informed by email that our Xoom 4G upgrade will be available in September (2011), early Sept or late Sept who knows. We'll also have to send the Xoom back for the upgrade so the inconvenience factor to get our 4g is high.
Well for those of us [i.e. myself] who bought early in the hopes that Motorola would exceed our personal expectations and put the upgrade in our Xooms quickly after the initial Xoom release on Feb 24, 2011, we've been disappointed with this unreasonably long delay.
The bar of what we expect from Motorola is now set by the Galaxy tab 4G and the tab speeds are, well, phenomenal.[URL].. So, a personal observation, the upgrade had better be stellar and fast now that the Xoom will [maybe?] be the No. 2 4g tablet on the Verizon network. You can't win the first to 4g tablet market race but you sure better not blow the performance side of 4g.
is there any way of selecting the file type that camera image files and video files are saved as? I know that the SGS2 supports various file formats, but I can't find anywhere that actually lets you select the format type. I've checked through the manual, Googled and searched various forums without luck.

I am not able to receive any file via Bluetooth if that file is not openable by Nokia. ie., if I receive a jpg or mp3 file, it receives fine, and when I open it from Messages, it tries to open it, and then I save it from the Message to the Gallery.But when I try to receive some other type of files which is not supported by the mobile, it receives the message, but it fails to open the bluetooth message and as a result, I am not able to save it to the Mass Memory. It says Un supported files.
Say for instance, I am trying to receive a docx (Microsoft Word) file, then I face this problem.Is there any way to save the file directly to any folder in memory without trying to open the received message?Had it been some protected files like .SIS or .SISX then I would agree, but It's bad if I am not able to receive general files.
