Motorola Motoactv :: Keep Track Of My Daily Walking Activity?
Mar 21, 2012
I just got a Motoactv. I am hoping I can use it all day as my watch and to keep track of my daily walking activity. Is this possible? Do I need to have it in any mode to do this?
Today, in the middle of my activity, something happen and my cycling activity ended unexpectedly (maybe a bad sequence of clicks, a bug, maybe something else...). Anyway, I had to start a new activity to record the remaining of my race.
(1) Is it possible to resume an activity that ended? If not, this would be a nice feature to add :)
(2) Since I had to start a new activity, is it possible to upload a new CSV file that is a merge of these two activities files (this can easily be done; but I don't know how/where to upload it such that the Motoactv consider it a new activity of its own).
Finally, if (2) is possible, then is it possible to delete the previous two activities? (on the device, and on motoactv.com).
I plan to use this device for activities other than just the 5 or 6 activity types listed - for example - monitoring heart rate and calories burned during strength training or other types of cardio activities. Is there any way to create a custom activity type - or if not, can you add a few more generic ones? ...perhaps "Other", "Cardio", or "Strength"?
Is it possible to start an activity from the device that is saved in your workout library without it being planned? I workout when i can so i don't want to log in and plan the workout everytime i want to do something.I guess i could set all my saved workouts to weekly or something but i just wanted to know if there was just a list of your workout library instead.
The "Activity" column on the topic list shows some random date. For example, the entry for "Where are the MOTOROLA SF700 headphones" shows the most recent activity as being 16 January, but mtwizard posted at 12.26 this morning.
Is the Motoactv capable of switching tracking modes in the same workout? If I go for a ride followed immediately by a run, do i have to stop, End Workout, then start a new run workout or is there a way to tell the device I have switched activities?
I have one song that is listed for 9 miles, and I have only run 15 miles with the device so far, but for some reason, one song is showing as being played for almost 9 miles, and I don't think that i have even listened to it for a run.
On my Motoactv golf I cannot initiate the Detailed Shot Tracking or even the Fast Play option from the Play Mode screen. It stays on Simple Shot Tracking no matter how many times I push detailed. I have tried to do a factory reset as well as checked my software version (1.7.10 N16)
Will the MOTOACTV Golf Edition track shot averages? It appears to only show the shot distance if I am marking shot locations, and then I don't see the information anywhere after (including on the online portal, where it isn't listed on the map with the other information like club selection, which seems odd). I would expect the device to track and store shot distances, and also calculate averages.
I've been watching this product (and these forums) since the MA came out. Now that I'm cleared to run again, I'm really ready to make a purchase. I am so completley on the fence between this and a Garmin. I realize people are more apt to post the negative over the positive so help me make a comparative list:PRO MANo separate IPOD!will track other activitiesbluetooth headphonesMatt's responsiveness on these forumsCon MA (concerns, eally)battery lifeonline portal issues (as seen on these forums)"water damage" issue - rated as ipx7?!GPS reliabilityPRO GARMIN 410more stable?familiar with garmconnect (I have an etrex for trail use)A true running GPSI've tried the Garmin but I have not tried the MA - I'd LOVE to though.
Why does one need to input a tire size for cycling if the GPS should track speed and distance? I owned a Garmin 205 and did not have a sensor. I only used the GPS and was able to track speed and distance very accurately. I tested the MOTOACTV in a car for 3.5 miles. For some reason the GPS was not tracking any information except the track, which was correct. Instead of 3.5 miles, it showed 0.51 miles. Will this also happen on the bike?
I have observed daily files (see attached) created in a folder /mdm/facetime in my SDCard. Looking at the contents, it keeps a log of the applications I used throughtout each day.
This looks very scary. I am not completely sure what is causing this. However, my suspicsion is on an app called My Data Manager. This app tracks the data and time used by every app.
Yesterday, my Xoom has started to really slow down - on occasion. I will touch a button on the screen and nothing will happen for maybe ten seconds, and then it will do the task. Then after this goes on for a few minutes without it getting better, a window will pop up on the screen saying:
Sorry Activity Browser (in application browser) is not responding Force Close Wait Report
This not only happens when browsing, but also when working in some apps. In that case, the above screen will mention the app, not the browser. At this point, sometimes I can't even turn off the Xoom. If I just let it sit, it will "clear" itself and start working again. For the record, I haven't added any apps in the past week and the AVG virus program says all is well.
My Xoom2 is connected to internet by celullar network and network coverage are doesn't strong enought to keep my device online every where. (Subway, B1 floor etc.) Here is the thing; every time, when the device loose network or catch back, it on the screen (like as tap power button) and wait 2 minutes (which is my set) then screen goes off. Which is increasing my battery consumption and sort of meaningless reaction. How could i get over it?
I have recently switched to a XPRT and have been having a problem with the phone audio (speaker, earpiece and mic) that requires me to reboot the phone EVERYDAYAll other audio functions work properly. Speaker for music, notifications, phone rings...but when i try to make or receive a call, there is no audio on my end (whether on speaker, earpiece or bluetooth) and the microphone is dead as well. The only way to resolve this issue is to power cycle (reboot) the phone. THIS HAPPENS EVERYDAY!
So for the past few weeks my phone has decided to restart on a daily basis, before It would reboot every 2-3 days, now its every day. Yesterday it rebooted twice within 3 hours. I do not have it rooted, and have very little 3rd party software installed. I know this is a common issue with admirals, has anyone found anything to lessen how often their phone reboots?
Ok so I just got the droid phone called the Atrix and after setting up my applications I then tried going to my photo gallery supplied on the phone to look through my photos, but when clicking on the gallery it acts as if it is loading, but then a notifications pops up that says "Sorry Activity Gallerys is not responding." I dont understand why it is saying that or how to fix it seeing as how this phone is BRAND NEW!!! I do know that my memory card did have alot of photos saved on it but I dont see how that should matter!!! If I go to my files and then click on the different folders that hold my photos I am able to get to them but not through the gallery
Is it possible to seek a music track by dragging/tapping the track progress bar. Or am I stuff with having ot hold the fast forward/rewind button like some kind of 1980's walkman. This lumia 820 gets worse and worse with every passing minute.
I've owned the MotoActv for two month, I got the mysterious "moisture issues" that everyone seems to be getting even though I've never used it in the rain. But the thing that is driving me nuts is the music. When I hit random shuffle of all my songs, I hear songs I don't want to hear... song that I do not own on my computer. Where are these songs coming from? Today I heard "Boot Scoot Boogie!" I abhore country music as does my wife. Doing a computer wide search shows no evidence that the song exists on my computer. Yet there it is playing in mile four. Other mystery songs have showed up too. The performance music playlist seems to be filled with songs I never heard of, yet evidently I perform well to them.
Could someone tell me exactly what is the current status of GPS on the N900? As I understand you can see where you are but there is no voice guidance. Is it possible to enter a destination address and have the phone guide you walking? Out of interest will the N900 ever be able to support video conferencing or is there a hardware problem? Thanks, Ian.
I have 2 different cases that I would like to se some kind of solution for:
- In my city, there are several "bugs" in the maps. Is there a way to get this corrected ? Several roads seems ok for drivetrough, but then you find them to be "walking only". Ovi maps told me to drive into such road, - but luckily I knew the area, and did know it was a dead end. Places like this I would like to share with other users, so the map itself would be more up to date and as correct as possible. But ; such issues I have found no way to feed the maps with. ( yea, I might share the cinema, and hospital, cafe's and som but the road and blocked roads, - nope. even nopt telling wich speedlimits the different roads has).
Is there a way to get the ovi maps to remember a input? (It asks over and over "connect to location server" y/n - while driving in areas with a lot of tunnels, and steep mountains (it looses the GPS signals). This is not only annoying, but it disturb while driving. If I consider to say yes, - ( or no for that matter) - it continues to ask everytime it looses the GPS signals. I have now turned it off, and will see if the nagscreen shows up all the time. If it could remember the FIRST answer - as long as it is running, - it would be okay. As it is now, - its really disturbing - here in Western Norway. (where the FJORDS are, and a lot of tunnels).
Let the developers know what new innovations you would like to see in Motoactive. Let them know what Apps, websites, hardware features that are out there that you love and would like to see incorporated into Motoactv.
I won a full life support of Cerberus, but i don't like it: it depends on internet connection, not a gps conn. I use EDGE conn to saves battery, everytime i make or receive calls i lost the edge during the calls, when i end them the edge comes back on, and i have to log everysingle time i enter the net with cerberus, is not worth it. what happend if i lost my phone and the phone is not logged in Cerberus? Crappy app. I wanna know a good free app that only depends on GPS track, i let my tablet and my phone with gps on. Or even if depends on internet conn, that it saves my id and password and log it self. But i really prefer one with gps, coz my tablet is only wifi and doesn't send or receives sms's.
