Motorola :: EM330 - Top Half Of Exterior Display Is Cut Off
Jun 9, 2011
I have a MOTO EM330 which I've had for about 1.5 years now. Starting last night, the top half of the exterior display (i.e., the outer cover display that shows when the clamshell is closed) is cut off. Only the lower half of the digital time characters are visible. At the top of the exterior display, I can see just the top edge of the icons that I know are there (signal strength, battery charge, etc.). I also see a flickering LCD segment to the left of the time characters, and there are a few thin "veins" radiating from the lower left corner of the exterior display, with some tiny brown spots clustered around them.Turning the phone off and on again, and removing/replacing the battery has had no effect. The interior display is working fine. Only the exterior (cover) display has the cut-off problem.I don't remember dropping the phone.
My EM330 is another victim of the broken hinge problem and I am trying to find the button sequence to transfer the photos on this phone to a memory card. The screen is no longer working, but the phone will come on and I was able to transfer my contacts using information obtained from another discussion.
When I get a text message from anyone, I get this notification chirp sound that is VERY loud. Once I was walking down the hall at work with it in my hand and the alarm went off. Someone jokingly said it sounded like a pacemaker alarm going off. Anyway, this notification usually startles me and since I share an office with 3 other people in a cubicle, I don't want this notification going off. I don't text a lot thankfully, but when I do this loud alarm really is annoying to both me and I'm sure to my co-workers.
Is there a way to change it to where I do not receive the notification when I get a text message without turning off the rest of the ringtones (i.e. putting it on vibrate)? Or is there somewhere on the phone itself I can change it? Or at least lower the volume of this notification? It doesn't seem to be in direct correlation with the volume of the phone because I've got the ring volume at 1 so I can keep down the volume, but still hear the ringtone when the phone is sitting on my desk. But this notification tone is REALLY loud. My choices shouldn't be "off" and "really loud".
Please note a couple of minor bugs.1) Date displayn the options of the MotoACTV device you can set the date display format to the ISO unambiguous yyyy/mm/dd format, which is what I prefer. On the motoactv web app Under Display Preferences/Data Format, there is only dd/MM/yyyy and MM/dd/yyyy. Please provide the more sane unabiguous yyyy/mm/dd format so this can be consistent.) Display Units My Display Units are set to Metric. However on the MotoACTV web app when I select Workouts/Latest Workout/Workout Stats, the distance and pacing are recorded in km, but the elevation shows in ft. I am not sure at this point if it is the 'ft' label is wrong, or the actual numeric display and/or conversion is wrong, but you guys I'm sure can figure this out. You can verify this here:
My 16gb Kingston microSD card will only format as 8gb (7.47gb). I tried formatting through Windows over a USB connection but saw the same result. It seems the phone will only recognize it as 8gb.
i am new to the android phones. i have the flipout and even though i was exited about it my battery lasts about half a day and it is allways really hot
Sometimes - not always - when I connect my phone to any Bluetooth audio device the Bluetooth volume (by design I believe) drops to half volume. When I hit the Volume Up button the bar will move up in a weird, sporatic way and never actually get louder, however it will eventually show full volume. Sometimes when I hit the Volume Down button it'll shoot all the way back down to half volume with one button press and I can then press Volume Up again to actually turn up the sound. Most other times it will shoot down to the bottom and never change volume until it's completely muted - so it'll jump from 50% volume to silent right at the end.
It doesn't happen every time - just about once every 10 or so times. This has happened to me with two different RAZR Maxx phones and I've seen my roommates RAZR do the same thing on a couple different Bluetooth devices.
I'm hoping the ICS update will fix it but the bug made it through the last OTA update.
After months of dealing with mediocre battery longevity, both of my D2G batteries seem to be unable to keep the phone alive for even half a day anymore.I suspect one of the major titles on board, recently updated, is drawing resources which are causing my battery to drop to about 30% within seven hours of standby time.I even found this to be the case in Safe Mode.Nothing seems to stop this phone from drawing excessive current. When I was in Eastern Europe, recently, the phone was used only through WiFi.Battery life was much, much better, and this proved that 3G reception was by far the biggest energy thief.WiFi is no slouch in energy draining capacity, but without the 3G radio in the on position, my D2G did very well on a single charge.
But under current conditions, I'd have to have a backup battery (or charging source) with me at all times.I hope this problem can be rectified, or I will join the growing population of those who seems to regard D2G as a failed model.
His text message gets interrupted halfway through by an old message he sent before (be it a previous message from a few minutes ago or from weeks ago!) It only happens with texts from him, no-one else. I've tried deleting our conversation but it makes no difference. It's getting so frustrating cos I have to keep asking him to text me again and a lot of the time I just get another 'cracked' text!
Once this 'feature' activates, the right half of the screen will be updated, but at a very choppy rate. Only resolution is to reboot the phone.
Doesn't appear to have any correlation to apps I'm running. Has happened running Waze, gmail, and simply flipping through home screens.
This happens at least 2 to 3 times a day, and started happening after receiving the OTA on Saturday. Have had the 64GB version since mid-November. Has been rock solid until this past weekend.
Tried wiping the cache partition, but issue still occurs.
So, for the past few days, when I wake up in the morning, I have found that the lower half of my screen is flashing. I use the AlarmDroid app and have done so since I got the device in February, so I didn't think that this would be the cause. It will flicker for a while, then eventually stop, so I can't just take it to erizon and show it to them. It only seems to do it first thing in the morning when I wake up (plugged into the charger). I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, but no change. The only thing I can think of is that a couple of weeks ago my phone would not restart, so I had to reset to factory defaults. This started after I did the factory reset.
Below is a screen shot from my Maxx. I don't know if the screen consumption is ordinary, but I am surprised that the screen alone is causing substantially more than half of the battery drain. I have the brightness set on auto, and I turn the screen off every time after I finish using the phone. Is this consumption normal?
How often the "My Gallery" updates does it? I mean I guess I'm noticing that after friends' have published their photos on facebook its almost taking 2hrs before "My Gallery" shows up. Some of my friends update takes almost half a day to show up and other friends show up pretty immediately....so very random. And believe me I've reformatted the Cell Phone and removed my Facebook acct and cleared app data/cache and sometimes it works but not all the time.
How can I remove just the "email account on My Gallery". After a reformat occurs you can set up your Facebook Account "Gallery" to syncronize to, of course, your cell phone within My Gallery. You can add/remove Facebook all you want but it seems the "My Gallery" option is greyed out; once you activate it I cannot find a way to dis engage it.
My wife's V3m went on the blink but I had used bitpm to backup contacts and pictures some time before this happened. I have ported her phone number from her V3m to my old V3m that we had received at the same time from Verizon and I had moved on to a different phone. When I tried to restore the pictures I can see the names of the pictures in my pictures on her phone but they will not display.I have tried saving them onto the sd card under my pictures as well as putting some of them under wallpaper to see if they would open there. The naming convention was the default one used on the razr with 12characters.jpg. I am not sure what copying them back and forth to a XP pc may have done to them so that they will not display.
why the brightness of display different from two defy cell phones..me nd my friend both purchased defy last week..nd in both defy thre lots of difference in brightness..my defy brightness dull as compere to my friend defy cell(both in same condition or same brightness setting).
My Droid 2 Global started doing that today. I would press the button on top that turns ON the display, and the login screen appeared, as usual. Then, when I attempted to insert my password, the display would suddenly turn off before I could go any further, and when I pressed the top button again, it had returned to the initial login screen. I couldn't get past the password entry! I typed faster, got my password in, then went to settings to confirm the display time: it was set for 2 minutes to display shutoff. I then removed my password, just in case I couldn't get back on! Periodically, again, the display turned off very quickly for no reason, during the next hour or so. During that time, I turned my Droid off, then on, but it still didn't cooperate. Next, I removed the battery, and replaced it. Still no luck. The phone wasn't overly warm (that's ANOTHER question--why does it get so hot!), as it has been on other occasions.!
I have a motorola i1 and use it for work. There are times when I need to take a picture and send it out through email, however upon opening the camera today I find that the view finder and the pictures it takes are upside down. All menus and overlays are in their correct position and right side up. I can't find any settings that would reverse this effect, and what's more is I don't really see that much about it on the web. This is a new problem that I've only just encounted, the phone was not always like this. I really don't want to go back to the sprint store again.
Ran into a new problem this morning, Took my electrify off the charger and turned it on and it started up but the display will not light up. The buttons at the bottom all light up and it looks like there is a back light that is on, (if you look at the screen from the side you can see like a back light) and the green indicator light is flashing.
I have my display settings so that the display goes off after 1 minute. This works when I activate the display and navigate around, the screen then goes off after 1 minute based on the last touch. But if I just hit the power button or shake to wake the display, and I don't touch the screen, then the display goes off after a few seconds.
Is there a way to keep the display on and not timed to go off? I generally ride or run a few hours and would need the display to stay on to be useful.I also would like to use it as a watch but that times out also and turns the display off.
I would like the watch to show the time continuously without the display getting off. I managed twice the display to show down the time but I can't recall how I did it?
My X1-01 sw version 05.27 ,26-05-11,RM -713, Language: MG
The problem is that it does not display Cell Info display correctly. Only few times it shows, But only for sometime. Is this bug fixed in the latest version 5.44 ???? and it also has the signal problem .. If i put it in my pocket , the whole signal goes away in both sims....
I recently broke my droid. The phone still turns on, but the screen is disconnected. I know the phone is working and I know that I have text messages, but I cant read them because the screen is no longer communicating with the phone. Is there any way to display the Droid screen onto the computer so I could navigate and use the phone just to check some text messages that I know I've missed and need to see?
I have my screen set to a 2 minute timeout and have the phone set to hang up by pressing the top button. When I am using the speakerphone, after 2 minutes, the screen goes blank and there is nothing I can do to get it back. The only button that works is the top button and that hangs up the call.
I ordered my Xoom from amazon.com, and exactly one day after their 30 day return period my tablet awakened showing only vertical lines. I am able to do a forced power-up (Volume up, power) but all you can see is the tablet going through the appropriately-colored start sequence, complete with the pulsating blue and purple honeycomb sequence - but with only somewhat compressed vertical lines. You can't really see where anything is on the screen, which has made it impossible to really acheive a factory reset start sequence. I've tried searching for this problem and haven't found it anywhere. I was wondering if anyone else had seen this.
Motorola suggested checking with place of purchase for return/exchange policy and/or returning the tablet to them. Mainly I'm curious if any others have experienced this and to let anyone who is know that they aren't the only one.
I love my Xoom, and after only 36hrs without it I am already missing it. Not looking forward to another couple of weeks.
been reading forums on exporting workouts (rides) and seem to be missing something:
where do i find the .csv data files to upload to SportTracks? What I am really trying to do is convert files to .gpx (or .tcx)so I can add rides to Strava.
If this can be achieved directly to Strava...The Motoactv watch will become a hit in Australia, giving the Garmin Edge solid competition.
I have oceania maps loaded, though the display is blank on the device... it tracks and shows position during workouts, just the background is blank.
