Jan 14, 2013I'm trying to have the phone storage locations (internal and optional micro SD card installed) show up in My Computer to be able to transfer files. My OS is Windows XP SP3.I have installed the latest version 2.3.4 of the"Motorola Device Manager" software.The install goes fine. There are no "Plug phone in now" kind of prompts, but the installer says the program is installed and will launch whenever I plug in the phone.So when I unlock and plug in the phone, the MDM icon shows up in the system tray, and the Windows "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard" comes up. Hmmm...did the software installer install the drivers or not?If I click Next, the message "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software."So I go back and change the selection to "install from a list or specific location", then specify to look in C:WINDOWSsystem32 (which usually works for most things)

Nov 28, 2011Does anyone know of any surefire way to transfer files to and from the Bionic to a windows 7 PC?
I have been using Zumocast, but that's only a one way deal. You can stream and download files from PC onto the Bionic, but not vice versa.Also, I tried to download a 1.4 gig mp4 file but it doesn't fully download, and makes my notification area on my Bionic force close and the whole phone just wigs out and requires a reboot. So Zumocast needs to do some updates in order to support large file transfer.
Anyway, I am looking for a way to transfer files from my phone to my computer(s) wirelessly. I don't always have my USB cable around.

Aug 29, 2012I saw an application for the Bravo that allowed my to select the music, photos AND files that I want to sunchronize with my Bravo. It worked great. Somehow I have d it from my PC. But now I can't find it again. It is not MML or CompanionLink or any of the music sync apps.

Jan 25, 2013I had a 1GB SD card that was full so I swapped in a 16GB memory card. The old SD card files show on my PC but I cannot get the PC to see the new SD card. I was thinking that I would put the old SD card in the phone, move the pictures (or as many as I could at one time) to the internal memory, mount the new SD card and move them to it. I cannot find a way to do this. Is there an app that I can download that will facilitate this? I also tried downloading the Admiral software for my PC, and it installed, but it will not work when I try to use it.

I am currently using my old 2 gb sd card and want to get a 16 gb card, but can't figure out how to transfer my music files that I downloaded from Amazon MP3 cloud to my phone. It appears they are stored on internal storage, which I suppose is ok for now, but when I get a new card I want to store them on my larger 16 gb card. I can access them by going to settings,storage, audio, then complete action using files, device storage, and then they are listed as amazonmp3.

Sep 22, 2011My corporate voicemails are emailed as .wav file attachments. These .wav files played perfectly on my old droid x and play perfectly on my xoom. why they won't they play on my bionic? I used the stock music app on my droid x, double twist also worked. Double twist works great on my xoom tablet. Music nor double twist nor winamp work on my bionic.
Double Twist Error:
"Sorry the player does not support this type of audio file."
No Error with Music or Winamp, the file just does not play.

May 18, 2011Been waiting for the encrypted filesystem support so that the Pro would meet requirements for corporate email since I got my Pro in Dec. Upgraded to 3.8.7 when it came out, and turned on device and SD encryption. (OK, the oddities came out a questions. But these are more rhetorical - not really needing an answer)Why per-file encryption and not device encryption?Why leave old files or those copied from PC unencrypted, and only encrypt new files created on the phone?Given the mix of encrypted and unencrypted files, why no method for seeing their state or converting to/from encryption?Why encrypt files but retain the original filename, so you can't tell by looking at a file in the filesystem whether it has been encrypted or not?Seems like a pretty marginal half-a$%ed encryption implementation.How do I access a decrypted copy of the files from the PC USB interface? USB Mass Storage mode mounts the sd card with a drive letter, and lets me see the files, but in their encrypted form. It basically mounts the SD card as a 'dumb' usb drive. (If you view a '.txt' file, you see the encrypted binary)
USB PC Mode makes the droid look like a music player to the PC - you see a 'droid' device which has media syncing and such. I believe that this show the unencrypted view of the files, since it is being interpreted and exported through the OS (wow, that was a horrible explanation). BUT, PC Mode only appears to show certain media file types (mp3, jpeg, etc) and their associated directories, so most of the directories and files are totally inaccessible. (even renaming junk.xls to junk.jpeg and putting it in the 'downloads' directory does not seem to work).Dropbox, or email, or some other indirect solution is not acceptable, since the whole idea of encryption is to keep my unencrypted files out of the porous cloud. Plus, it would be annoying and awkward.
Does the Droid use a standard encryption algorithm like AES/256, and can we get/find/see the encryption key on the phone, such that I could use USB Mass Storage mode and a PC-side decrypter with that key to see the file?Alternatively, is there a way to make USB PC Mode show other files types and directories? Hypothesize it could be a rooted phone and I am totally comfortable poking around the linux underpinnings of the phone.

I took a bunch of photos on vacation, went to transfer them to my computer via USB cable, and was dismayed to find they came across as "unknown files". They had the correct name and jpg extension, but I couldn't view the photos.This is only true of photos I have taken since encrypting the device. tried disabling the encryption feature, and doing it again, with the same result.What am I doing wrong?
