I have a Droid Turbo and I want screen cast to my Chromecast some TV recordings I have on a hard drive. My tablet struggles to keep the hard drive spinning over OTG, but my phone powers it just fine. Problem is, the Chromecast needs a WiFi network to connect to, so I turn on the hotspot on the phone. When I do that, I have to disable WiFi on the phone, so it can't see the Chromecast.

I have disabled all the moto actions, but the clock screen is still constantly coming up whenever the phone moves, such as when I'm walking or it is sitting on the passenger seat in my car! I can make it stop by disabling moto display, but since there's no LED to notify me when I get a text or email, I'll never know....
I tried to clear data and cache in Apps under Blue tooth share after I removed all bluetooth profiles but this did not work. I even went to verizon and got a new sim card. I also did a factory reset and still have problems.

I called VZW to get the wireless hotspot enabled on my phone for a couple days. Check. Went to settings to turn on the Hotspot. Nothing. nada. zip. Got a message saying it was retreiving the agreement, and then got a message that said I needed to call VZW to enable the feature. But I just did that. Reboot the phone. Try again. Same thing.Call VZW back, they verify I was indeed provisioned for hotspot, and tell me to reboot the phone. Still doesn't work. Get handed off to a technician.Reboot the phone again. No go. Turn the Bionic off and pull the SIM. Re-seat the SIM, boot up the phone, still no hotspot.I'm now almost 90 minutes into trying to get my Bionic's hotspot feature to work (because I wanted to avoid a trip to buy an overpriced USB cable). Tech says we'll have to do a hard reset. I decline and tell him I'll add this feature to my list of disappointments with my Bionic. He asked if there was anything else I needed, and I said the release date for the ICS update, but of course, they couldn't help me with that.

Selecting the "Click to connect" would bring up the web page where we log in and I was up and running. Now when I select "Click to connect", I just get a big lock with a cross through it. Selecting "Use network as is" doesn't do anything.

When the phone doesn't have a good signal or is trying to pick between wifi & cellular, my Turbo lags & temporarily freezes. I just have to wait a good 30 seconds or so for it to free up. I believe I have since narrowed it down to occur only when I am at my office and connected to the office Apple airport WiFi.
I am on my second device and don't think returning will be useful as it must be software.
Since I installed the 5.1 update, I've noticed in the stock battery stats that wifi displays as always on, with a solid green line across the screen, even when wifi is off AND disconnected from any wifi signal. I don't seem to have a drain on the battery as a result, but I don't have a clue why it would show up like this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was always using on other phones with Android 2.2 FroYo that 3G mobile hotspot feature, which was included right in the Android system under Wireless Networks settings.Now in Defy there is no option like that under settings in FroYo. Defy includes own app called 3G Mobile Hotspot, which should work like that option for creating mobile WiFi hotspots in other Android phones. But here is the problem.On my older phone with Android 2.2 I could create 3G WiFi hotspot wherever I needed and it worked. But now, with Defy, when I use that application 3G Mobile Hotspot, it writes me error when creating WiFi hotspot "Cannot set up data link, please contact your service provider" I suppose it is something with my carrier (Vodafone_CZ), but when I used 3G WiFi hotspots on older phones (which had that feature included right in Android settings menu) it worked without problems and I a used mobile phone for 3G internet sharing with my laptop.Now I remember, that I have deleted some DUN profile under APN Internet profiles, could it be that problem, that 3G Mobile Hotspot app is not working?how to create WiFi hotspot on my Defy for example with some other app?Or if not, how can I use Internet Tethering in Defy Mobile Networks menu via Bluetooth (my laptot has BT). Okay, so in my house I have a wireless router that I have two laptops, an android tablet, and several unactivated smartphones that I use for developement purposes all connected to. All these devices connect to and stay connected to the wifi without a problem. Some are set for static ips and some are set to dhcp. My Droid 4 is set for static ip and I've tried several different numbers. The wifi connects fine and for the most part stays connected fine. But at least once a day I will pull my phone out of the holster and see both the wifi and 3g icon on at the same time as if they are competing to connect and both failing; neither icon is blue and the apps that require a data connection don't work. I have to toggle wifi off and back on for the 3G icon to go away and the wifi to reassociate and turn blue. This is a minor inconvienence but I just wanted to put this out there to see if any one else is experiencing similar issues and more importantly to see if any one has figured out a way to fix this. The primary issue with this glitch isn't just that the data is disconnected when both icons are on but that it seems to drain the battery a bit quicker. Normally with either wifi or 3g connected with a blue icon the battery seldom drops below 50% in a single day of usage. On some days it doesn't even drop below 70% after a day of use. But when the two icons are in a tug-of-war over who should be connected my battery can go from 100% to 60% real fast. Fortunately, most of the times that this issue has occured the phone has been plugged into the charger. I've included a photo of what I'm talking about. BTW, I don't have 4G in my area which is why I'm have the 3G icon.

Verizon replaced it with a refurb, and I've noticed that this one shows both the 3G and wifi icons when I'm at home/work with a wifi network onI do have an unlimited data package, however there are obvious benefits to using wifi as opposed to 3G, but how do I know (besides slow data) which one I'm using, and why is it doing this? If I press the lock button myself, the phone will lock and stay black with the time. If I unlock my phone and let it be, it'll turn to the rainbow colors. View 9 Replies View RelatedThis problem has persisted since day one with this phone, and has been an issue through all software updates. My phone is currently running the latest OTA software update from Verizon: 4.5.605.MB810.Verizon.en.us. The phone will connect to WiFi access points. It never seems to have trouble finding or negotiating a connection to a WiFi network. I can connect to open networks, WPA, WPA2, etc. I can connect to b/g/n no problem.
However, after using the network for a while, it always fails. The connection will suddenly stop working, and apps will start to claim that the network isn't available. The phone continues to think that it is connected to WiFi, but no data will flow. The only way to fix the problem is to disable to WiFi radio and turn it back on. The failure seems to be triggered by a volume of data. If I connect to a network and then don't download much, it seems to last longer (time-wise) than if I immediately start a download.
Different access points seem to trigger the problem sooner than others. I have a business-class HP Procurve 802.11n access point that will lock-up the phone almost immediately. I also have a consumer-grade Linksys 802.11g access point that will work for much longer, but still leads to failure. Suggestions to disable wifi encryption are NOT acceptable. Suggestions to disable wireless-N are NOT acceptable.
Droid Turbo (Android Version 5.1) - WIFI works fine at home and seems to work other places. I have been using it for months at work. Recently I cannot connect. Other people can still connect. I had the connection saved...but even tried deleting it and researching, but it won't locate the server.

That's an issue I stumble upon everytime I want to use a standalone application like Hotmail on my handset. I presume that the communication from my handset to Motorola servers are encrypted, but I have no documentation about it.
I wonder if my mail account is directed in a similar manner, from my handset to Motorola server when I send a SMTP message from an account registered within Blur.
How does it work. I would like to know. Is there any white paper from Motorola somewhere available to the consumer.
USb tethering And Wifi Hotspot are not working, a new local connection is made on my laptops, but no browsing is possible and in Win 7 just sets there trying to work out what network location to use.
