Motorola Droid Razr :: Charger With Low Current Output Will Cause Any Damage?
Dec 31, 2011
Is there any information on the max current draw for charging the Droid Razr? Both wall chargers I have output 750ma but I believe my car charger only puts out 700ma. Will charging the phone on a charger with too low current output damage the phone? Will it damage the charger? Or is the phone smart enough to throttle the current usage to what's available? I'm assuming the latter is the case since I can't find any warning on charging current. Will a higher output charger (say 1A or 2A) charge the phone faster? Will it affect the longevity of the battery (slow vs fast charge)?
So they finally added the ability to share info about the current song you're listening to with friends, however when it comes up with the content of what to send it says "Me recommends <song name> by <artist name>", and continues on with the link to info, etc. Where is it picking up the "Me"? Obviously I have to tell the system who I am somewhere, but haven't found any option inside the Music player nor in the Contacts to specify one of them as my own contact.
When I'm using my charger to charge my phone (as opposed to plugging it in charged), the charger gets really hot (~160 degrees fahrenheit), it makes a quiet hissing noise, and if I smell the USB ports, I can smell "the short-circuit smell" faintly. I'm wondering if this is normal, as the charger has been doing this since I bought my phone. (It's the charger they provided to me with the phone).
So I was on a road trip today and when I plugged in the phone in the car dock I had full battery. Then I turned on navigation and slacker radio. About an hour travel the battery started to charge according to the battery icon. My question is, why did the battery discharge while on external power? Does the factory charger not have enough capacity to charge the phone while being used? If so something is wrong with the whole designe of the charging system.
In the user guide for the Droid RAZR dock (part # 89525N ), there is a split audio/charger usb cable. This cable also shows in several catalog photos for the car dock.I purchased the car dock from a Verizon (official) store, but only got a straight audio cable. what the part number for this cable is, and (b) where can I order it?
I want the display to stay on while connected to my 12VDC charger while in the car. I don't have an official Moto car dock. I have tried using Smart Actions but the only options seem to be changing the screen timeout option to a maximum of staying on for 10 minutes. I've tired many variations using Tasker and still no joy.
My car dock charger stopped charging my RAZR but works on my wife's HTC but my older Moto vehicle charger still works. It also seems as if it takes a very long time to chage the battery even on my original RAZR home charger.
Does anyone have the part number or output rating of the charger that ships with the Razr Maxx? I have a box of Motorola chargers but I think I grabbed one for a headset as my phone seems to be charging slowly.
My current text messages are being combined with old text messages, creating messages that don't reflect what I sent. The recipients of my texts are very confused....as am I when I get there response.
I'm wondering what is the charging power output going through the CA-134 cable from the carkit? If the CA-146 adapter was attached, is there a difference then in the output?
Bought an awesome Droid4 in early August. Broke the screen glass 3 weeks later. Touch still works, no LCD damage, just busted up glass.Send in for repair in early September, recieve SIM and backplate back from repair, stated they were accessories. RMA number supplied never works in their system. Call support, they are unable to find it, they leave a message with the shop and CSR states in 2 days they will call and update me. Never recieve a call. Call back week after original call, they have found phone and it is being repaired, also supplied with working RMA. SweGet email same day as second call, phone unrepairable due to water damage, supplied with picture showing alleged "damage".Recieve phone back in a few days after email, put SIM and backplate back on, charge phone to full, activate and use.Now my battery is messed up, will fuction for 2 hours at 5% life, then when it finally dies, when I plug into charger it starts charging at 70% and only a couple hours will be done charging. After this the meter acts erratically, jumping from 80% to 50% to 5%. Battery worked fine previous to sending in for "service".Call motorola. They say my "water damage" has ruined the battery, and my option is to make insurance claim (I declined insurance at purchase) or buy a new phone from them for 275.I can buy a replacement screen and install myself for 40 bucks, but it seems new batteries are impossible to find online.
An Apple Genius advised that a single charger terminal had a tiny bit of corrosion although none of the LCI's had been triggered. This was preventing my iPhone 4 from charging. The phone is 8 months old but as the store considered this to be water damage it would cost £130 to repair as the warranty doesn't cover water damage. Is this right my phone has not been anywhere near water?
found a terminal program and ran the dmesg command. I dont know much about android, but everytime this shows up in the dmesg output "qtouch_force_reset:forcing HW reset" it corrosponds to a time my phone randomly reboots.
Finally recieved my miro sim card this morning. Called up my service provider (O2) to activate it and was told to insert the sim then turn the handset off for half an hour then when I turned it on again it would be activated.I waited for half an hour and then tried to turn the phone on nothing happened..Tried several times and then connected it to the charger to see if the battery had miraculously lost all it's charge whilst switched off! Nothin, no LED's nothing to suggest any life in the phone at all.I am unsure if I will accpet a replacement or weather I will swap to a Nexus, I like the Razr but this is a pretty poor start to my life with a Motorola!
I have the motorola car dock for the Droid Razr which came with the Charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter and the 3.5m Aux cable. When i have the charger plugged in with the AUX cable i get interference when playing music from my phone, if i remove the charger and just have the aux cable plugged in via the dock i get no interference.
Does anyone know the file in /sys that the current battery state is located? I would very much like the precise % and this app Elixir 2 has the capabilities if that system file is known.
What is the most current or most widely used quadrant benchmark app? I have tried a couple and they give different numbers. Is there one more accepted than an another? I have not purchased one yet but will if it is the best one to use.
Both my phone and my wife's phone have been randomly dialing another number during a active call. This causes the current call to drop without warning.
I thought it was my accidental error until it happened to her and then it reoccurred again and again on my phone.
I purchased the Moto Elite Sliver because my Plantronics Pro HD would drop its bluetooth every single time a call was answered or placed. I did a little research and found it may be related to a conflict with the 2.0 headset and 4.0 phone. Moto Sliver is BT 3.0 and was working great until this week. Now every single time a call is disconnected, the headset disconnects and reconnects. Reboots galore, problem still exists. Uninstall/reinstall Motospeak, problem still exists. Sometimes the bluetooth will not connect at all (reboot required). The Droid RAZR Maxx and the Elite Sliver are supposed to be state of the art MOTOROLA, I make a living with my phone and headset.
Once again I took several videos with my DROID X in the vertical position. Has anyone found a conversion utility that properly converts a .3gp video file to rotate the video horizontally (on a PC)? I've found several that CLAIM to, but the problem I continue to run into is that the Audio doesn't propery SYNC in the resulting output file (e.g., .avi).
I'm thinking about getting the wireless charger with the D3 but customer service couldn't answer my questions.
Will it work with the extended battery? Does this have a cable on the door that uses the usb port for charging as I've seen some of the add-on solutions?
I have WiFi enabled. Often when I am near a wireless access point, my RAZR M still uses 4G. It's as if the WiFi is going to sleep when I power the screen off, but it doesn't wake up again. Turning WiFi off and on makes it reconnect. It seems to happen mostly when I'm at home, where I also use the Motorola flip stand with "ESP" smart charger, and a NetGear dual-band wireless router/access point.
Brand new Car Dock and Razr. Installed and all good working no problems for first 2 days, then when I dock the RAZR it does not change to the car navigation screen or start to charge.Power light on the power cable. RAZR charges and transfers data via other cables.
The Verizon Sales assistant assured me that I'd be able to Sync my Outlook with my Droid Razr as easily as I synced it with my old Blackberry Tour. Now, after several days' worth of set-up, google searches, forum searches and FAQ's, I'm come to the conclusion that Motorola did NOT build this function into the Droid Razr, and I have to pay a hefty fee for a decent 3rd-party app to do what my Blackberry did for free. Have I missed something?
I frequently hit adjacent keys while texting on my old Droid X. A larger screen and of course 4G and a faster processor were appealing as well. As the Razr HD models sport screens almost as large as the S3 I ran to see them on their first day out of the gates. What a disappointment! Holding my old Droid X up against them I saw that the usable screen sizes were identical. Namely 4.3" unless playing videos in which case the video filled up the Razr HD's 4.7" screen. I couldn't find anything else that would fill up the screen. Perhaps, photos might. But internet browsing, texting and whatever else I tried occupied a 4.3" inset within the 4.7" screen. So why have a 4.7" screen at all? The Galaxy S3 on the other hand fills up the entire 4.8" screen with not only video but everything else, including texting, messaging, web browsing, and everything else I tried. So what gives? Why did you even create a 4.7" screen if you aren't going to utilize it to its full potential?
