Motorola Droid Razr :: Can't Take Screenshot Anymore
Nov 23, 2012
Suddenly I can't take a screenshot. I hold Power and press Volume Down and the volume goes down. I keep trying and it goes mute. Nothing I do fixes this. Isn't there some kind of cache I can clear, like Dalvik cache?
I've had volume problems on this phone since I got it, usually just the volume going completely silent even if it shows halfway on media or phone, no matter which output (earpiece, speaker, headphones, bluetooth), and the only fix was to stop all media, go to the homescreen, turn the phone volume down until it mutes, then turn it back up and resume the media.
However, a few days ago when this problem happened again, I couldn't get the volume out of media mode even after stopping the media and going to the homescreen. I couldn't get it to mute or go to vibrate using the volume buttons. I had to Menu > System Settings > Sound > Volumes and manually set phone to mute then turn it back up. Now I can't take a screenshot.
Something is screwed up in the software, either corrupted in the system software or screwed up in the cache; I can't figure it out, but I blame Motorola for poor programming, considering I haven't run into any of these problems on the Galaxy Nexus, as well as the other volume problems I've had on this phone (Bluetooth and headset too loud at the lowest volume, earpiece too quiet at the highest... why can't Motorola have the same volumes across outputs?!).
Has anyone found a setting for the volume of the shutter sound that occurs when you take a screenshot of the RAZR MAXX on ICS? It seems much louder than any other sound effect on the phone.
Matt, would you please ask the Motorola developers to create an app to get/save a screenshot?
All, what is the best, free app that doesn't require rooting? I've seen good feedback for Shootme, but that app has been removed from the Android Market.
I purchased the Moto Elite Sliver because my Plantronics Pro HD would drop its bluetooth every single time a call was answered or placed. I did a little research and found it may be related to a conflict with the 2.0 headset and 4.0 phone. Moto Sliver is BT 3.0 and was working great until this week. Now every single time a call is disconnected, the headset disconnects and reconnects. Reboots galore, problem still exists. Uninstall/reinstall Motospeak, problem still exists. Sometimes the bluetooth will not connect at all (reboot required). The Droid RAZR Maxx and the Elite Sliver are supposed to be state of the art MOTOROLA, I make a living with my phone and headset.
I have WiFi enabled. Often when I am near a wireless access point, my RAZR M still uses 4G. It's as if the WiFi is going to sleep when I power the screen off, but it doesn't wake up again. Turning WiFi off and on makes it reconnect. It seems to happen mostly when I'm at home, where I also use the Motorola flip stand with "ESP" smart charger, and a NetGear dual-band wireless router/access point.
Brand new Car Dock and Razr. Installed and all good working no problems for first 2 days, then when I dock the RAZR it does not change to the car navigation screen or start to charge.Power light on the power cable. RAZR charges and transfers data via other cables.
The Verizon Sales assistant assured me that I'd be able to Sync my Outlook with my Droid Razr as easily as I synced it with my old Blackberry Tour. Now, after several days' worth of set-up, google searches, forum searches and FAQ's, I'm come to the conclusion that Motorola did NOT build this function into the Droid Razr, and I have to pay a hefty fee for a decent 3rd-party app to do what my Blackberry did for free. Have I missed something?
I frequently hit adjacent keys while texting on my old Droid X. A larger screen and of course 4G and a faster processor were appealing as well. As the Razr HD models sport screens almost as large as the S3 I ran to see them on their first day out of the gates. What a disappointment! Holding my old Droid X up against them I saw that the usable screen sizes were identical. Namely 4.3" unless playing videos in which case the video filled up the Razr HD's 4.7" screen. I couldn't find anything else that would fill up the screen. Perhaps, photos might. But internet browsing, texting and whatever else I tried occupied a 4.3" inset within the 4.7" screen. So why have a 4.7" screen at all? The Galaxy S3 on the other hand fills up the entire 4.8" screen with not only video but everything else, including texting, messaging, web browsing, and everything else I tried. So what gives? Why did you even create a 4.7" screen if you aren't going to utilize it to its full potential?
I thought ICS was suppose to extend battery life? My MAXX wont last very long lately since the ICS, And its suppose to have a very long battery life, what happened?
Ok so when I plug my Droid 2 R2D2 edition into my laptop, nothing hppens. It used to work fine, but now when I try absolutely nothing happens. It doesn't make the noise indicating I've just plugged soemthing into the USB drive, I've tried both USB drives, it works with my PC so I know it's not the cord, plus I use the same cord connected to an outlet adapter to charge it and it works fine but all of the sudden when I plug it into my laptop I get nothing. It doesn't charge, I go to my computer it doesn't show up, I scan for devices I get nothing, I've tried updating motocast and motohelper, and it still doesn't work but like i said it used to work fine, plus this is a brand new phone i recently got a replacment and even after i got the replacment phone it worked fine the first like 20 times I connected it to my laptop, nothings changed. I've got a Dell Inspirion running Windows 7 if that makes a difference but as I've stated nothings changed since the last few times it worked successfully.
On Oct 20, we switched from AT&T to Verizon Wireless after being with AT&T for over 10 years. We had iPhones and had to get new phones when we switched. The Verizon salesperson convinced me and my adult daughter to get the RAZR HD that had just come out and he said it was better than the iPhone. My husband stayed with an iPhone because he is a commercial pilot and needed to use aviation apps that were not available on a DROID phone. Initially we were very impressed with the RAZR HD until my daughter had a problem with hers after just 20 days of use. She is an EMT and was on duty sitting in her ambulance. She has to have a phone on her while working. She used her phone several times and had it in her front pocket. She took the phone out of her pocket to call us and the screen was black and not functioning—a few minutes before it was working fine. She noticed some spider cracks in the LCD at the edge of the screen. She took the phone back to the store where it was purchased and the Verizon salesperson accused her of abusing/dropping it and said she would have to file an insurance claim which would cost $99. I was shocked. Our iPhones had heavy mobile use and were even dropped several times, including on cement, but never failed. I told our daughter we had no intention of filing an insurance claim for a defective product that should be covered under warranty. For all we know, it had damage before we even bought it from Verizon. But when she contacted Motorola, they said a screen failure due to a cracked screen was not covered but she could send it in to be evaluated. When we read the warranty, it does not say this. It says it doesn't cover damage caused by accidents, abuse, misuse, including improper usage or operation, abuse or neglect, or impact damage, such as dropping the phone. The phone had not been dropped, abused, or misused. There is not a scratch or any physical damage on the phone and the glass. The phone failed under normal use. The LCD screen under the glass fractured. Normal use should not cause this unless there was a manufacturer's defect in the phone. I.contacted my dad who works with digital and analog wireless technologies/hardware, and he told us to file a warranty claim. He said the phone has an accelerometer in it that detects G-force and impact and Motorola should provide us the data that shows the phone was impacted outside the tolerance thresholds for normal use. Well clearly Motorola and Verizon are just scamming customers and ripping them off. How convenient for Motorola to automatically tell a client all screen failures are due to customer damage. We should have stuck with iPhones and the AppleCare. Apple stands behind the quality of their products and would have never questioned replacing a phone for a defective LCD, i.e., no broken glass, just screen failure. You get a replacement on the spot. Oh but not Motorola—mail it in and then you are without a phone for how long??? We are going on 24 days now. Motorola got the phone and sent a picture of the phone screen (included) and said it was physically damaged—said it would cost $99 to fix—interesting how that is the same amount as the Verizon insurance deductible. Really--they are insulting my intelligence... I called them up and told them to provide me the accelerometer data—I wanted proof the phone was damaged by us and not defective. They still have the phone and have not responded to my request for over a week now. I told customer service that Motorola should be ready for a fight—we will file a report with the FTC and the BBB if they don't repair or replace the phone at no cost. I am very angry about this poor customer service. If we dropped the phone and cracked it up, well that is what insurance is for and that is why we bought the insurance. I would not expect Motorola to fix a phone for free if we broke it, but this is not the case and it is just outrageous. I am worried the same thing will soon happen to my RAZR HD which has overheated while it was charging. The phone is so thin that any expansion in the case is going to put pressure on the LCD. I am wondering how we are going to make it through a 2-year contract with Verizon when the Motorola phone can't even handle normal mobile use. I used my AT&T iPhone 3Gs for over 3 years before switching to Verizon and the RAZR HD and the iPhone still works well as a Smart device for email, photos and music. Clearly Apple has a superior product and also knows how to take care of customers. We called Motorola customer service again today since we aren't seeing any information online regarding the current status of our phone, and they couldn't even tell us what the status is. They have had the phone for over 2 weeks. If Motorola doesn't do what is right, they will lose us as customers. This is so frustrating.
I was facing problems similar to this ( Gallery crash after OTA ICS update )url..I followed the thread and did a factory reset.I now find that the problem is solved but the UI after factory reset is different from the original UI that came with ICS update. I kinda like previous UI. I am guessing it is Motoblur. Is there any way to get that back.
My GPS worked splendidly for about a year with the Droid X. Now it really doesn't work at all. On Google Maps the circle never goes below a kilometer, and even with that it is usually wrong. When I try and use it to Navigate, it never tells me where to turn and I get lost because it isn't getting a signal.
I checked, and all settings were on for GPS. I restarted the phone and pulled the battery. I installed GPS Status and tried to Manage A-GPS state. First I reset, and that didn't work. Then I Downloaded and that didn't work either. The app thinks it is doing something but no satellites show up and the radar even outdoors and even not moving.
My Droid 3 no longer has a lock screen. It used to have a lock screen when I first got it but now all it does is sometimes shows me blips of the lock screen and then goes to whatever I had open last. I've tried putting a password on thinking that would fix it - but it didn't. So what do you think is wrong with my phone?
When I try to send to a Handcent group that I create, the group will not appear in the "To:" field. This pretty much nixes any reason I have for using Handcent. Everything was fine when I had the X. X2, not so great. And I have auto-updating set.
After months of dealing with mediocre battery longevity, both of my D2G batteries seem to be unable to keep the phone alive for even half a day anymore.I suspect one of the major titles on board, recently updated, is drawing resources which are causing my battery to drop to about 30% within seven hours of standby time.I even found this to be the case in Safe Mode.Nothing seems to stop this phone from drawing excessive current. When I was in Eastern Europe, recently, the phone was used only through WiFi.Battery life was much, much better, and this proved that 3G reception was by far the biggest energy thief.WiFi is no slouch in energy draining capacity, but without the 3G radio in the on position, my D2G did very well on a single charge.
But under current conditions, I'd have to have a backup battery (or charging source) with me at all times.I hope this problem can be rectified, or I will join the growing population of those who seems to regard D2G as a failed model.
After the 5.1 upgrade, my automation apps can't turn off mobile data anymore. That was how I was stopping beeps while I was sleeping. How do I get the phone to go completely silent except for phone calls overnight?
My goal: phone goes silent during set night hours; the only thing that can get it to make noise is a phone call or alarm. It would also be convenient to be able to toggle that mode on or off manually. I need it to be 100% effective in shutting up every single app and beep, and so far the only way I've found to do that is to turn off all data connections.
Would the new 5.1 "Downtime" option fix this problem? On the Interruptions settings page, I could set only phone calls to be priority interruptions, and then set only priority interruptions to come up during quiet hours. Would that really stop all apps, or just those that play nice? Can't seem to trigger that downtime time manually, though.
I've been using Battery drain analyzer free to set up a silent mode at night. It has a simple night and day setting, where at a set time, it can turn things off or on. So every night at bedtime, it turns off wifi, sync, and mobile data, so the only things that could really happen are phone calls and text messages. (I'd like to silence texts, too, but have not figured that out.) Then it all comes back on at a set time in the morning. Simple and straightforward -- that's all I want. It's also convenient to be able to hit the "night" button if I go to bed early or sleep past the usual wakeup time, or to hit the "day" button if I wake up early.
But with the update to 5.1, that app doesn't automatically turn off mobile data anymore. I've also noticed that my Power Toggles notification bar button no longer turns off mobile data with one click; instead it sends me to the settings page for mobile data, where I click again to turn off mobile data. There's no option in Automate It, either.I'm guessing that this is a settings change in 5.1.
My Razr constantly detects a HDMI cable connection, even though there is no HDMI cable near it (not even a USB cable is connected). A popup keeps showing up asking me to "Select Dock Type". This has been really annoying, as I need to dismiss it every time it shows up. I can't find a way to disable the detection of the HDMI cable.
This problem started after 2 weeks into owning the phone, back in mid December. I called Verizon technical support. They thought it was a hardware defect, and sent me a replacement phone. However, when I received the phone, I found that it was a refurbished phone with a big scratch on the side. I returned it and kept my original one.
Other than this problem, everything runs great, and I love my Razr. My question is: has anyone seen this problem? I have learned to deal with it by dismissing the popup every time I unlock the screen. Can a future software update include a setting where I can disable the HDMI detection?
My wife just got the Droid Razr after her X went bad. I was trying to set up her email accounts and the force close kept popping up. I tried a factory reset but that didn't help.
My droid razr keeps getting on 3G on both setting CDMA/LTE & GLOBAL... Let me clear, I am in the best 4G LTE area, since I was getting average 22MBPS speed. But suddenly my phone is not connecting to 4G LTE, just 3G
I love my DROID RAZR MAXX and since having ICS on my XOOM, I have been patiently waiting for ICS on my DROID RAZR MAXX. So I am extremely excited to now have it on my DROID RAZR MAXX. I have noticed that the battery time is a little worse since ICS. I can still get through the day without any issues but, during work I prefer to just shut the 4G off. I am noticing that there is no longer an option. I originally had the 4G toggle downloaded from the market. Now when using the toggle it takes you to "Mobil Network Settings" where you can select "Network Mode". However, the only choices are now GLOBAL, LTE/CDMA or GSM/UMTS (not even sure what this last one is but when selected there is no service). I have read in a couple of places that it can be shut off by entering a certain combination of numbers and symbols into the dialer but that seems very cumbersome and not really worth the trouble. It's not a huge deal and I prefer having ICS over being able to shut off my 4G. Was just wondering if being able to select 3G is gone forever.
Since installing ICS 4.0.4 I seem to no longer have the option to switch my data to CDMA only which is a problem because when I'm at work I get just enough of a 4G signal to keep my RAZR bouncing back and fourth between 3G and 4G and killing my battery in the process.
If this is a repeat, I apologize, but I searched the forums and couldn't find this problem specifically for the Razr. For the first time today, I connected my phone via USB to my Win 7 64 bit laptop, and kept getting the error message that the USB device was not recognized. When I clicked for more detail, I was helpfully told to replace my unrecognized device (sometimes you just GOTTA love Microsoft). The cable I'm using isn't the one that came in the box (which is very short), but I did buy it directly from Verizon. I plan to try the one that came in the box this weekend, but, in the meantime, does anyone have any ideas about what might be wrong?
I just bought a Droid Razr Maxx to replace my Droid Bionic yesterday. I purchased it on Craigslist, and just now realized the GPS isn't working. If I use any of the GPS apps it finds 0 satellites in view no matter how long it stays out. I'm really hoping I didn't get screwed on this craigslist deal, but my stomach is sinking right now. So far I have.
My RAZR wifi is always on. I go the battery app in the phone menu and it says wifi is on all day everyday but if you toggle wifi its already off and I've tried everything from rebooting to mashing buttons like an idiot. This seems to be unrelated to ics it just randomly started doing it this past few days like since last Thursday.
