I have Motorola Defy. from last 2 days i have been facing problem in my phone. i am not able to chnage the ringtone. whichever ringtone i select it will play the default ringtone line telephone rig.

Did that and it says: "The phone radio is unable to connect to the network. Make sure the radio is on, or move into a better cover area". Same story when I put my UK (the orginal) SIM card in. Tried to connect to wifi, that won;t work either.

Email, and Social messaging are set to a 'silent' ringtone whilst Text messaging has a ringtone assigned to it. But I still get the standard ringtone notification for Email & Social messaging.
When I try to change my ringtone nothing changes, I go to settings, select ringtone + sounds, press the ringtone box, select nostalgia it turns blue, check the ringtone box it says nostalgia, ringer on vibrate on, but when I ring my phone the ringtone that plays is the one that came with the phone, it does not change.

I have done everything correctly & the settings show that the new ringtone has been saved, however the old ringtone sounds when a text or other notification is received. I keep checking the settings & it shows the newly saved one, but obviously this does come through as that one ....NB I have successfully changed my Phone ringtone, the problem only lies with the Notification one.

I previously installed Buzz me from the app store on my phone, and despite having uninstalled buzzme and removing it from 'my world' in the app world, the only ringtone my phone will use is the lame 3 beep tone that came with Buzz me. When I go into profiles to change my ringtone, the same tone plays regardless of which ringer I select. When I made this post I tried notifier_crystal, alarm_electronic, ringer_bbpro, and they all sounded the same

I went to 'Sound' 'Phone ringtone' and I select the one I want, and it selects it okay.. but when someone actually calls, it has this annoying voice saying 'Home is calling' or something like that. It's kind of hard to make out what it's saying, so I find it really annoying. I also put my own music on, and they're not coming up on the list of ringtones.
PS. Does this phone take a while to dial out and recieve calls? I tried calling myself and it took about 10-15 secs to actually hear it ringing.
Upgraded the update and the home screen and the icons in the bottom for Menu, Dialler, Contacts did not change. why is that so? when I saw the Android Users guide on Google for 2.2 it has changed from eclair,

On my original Droid, I absolutely needed the option to disable ringtone notifications for email (Gmail).I want to do this for the Bionic, but I do not see any Ringtone setting anywhere in the Gmail app.. The closest I can find is this:Gmail -> Menu -> More -> Settings -> (my gmail address). Then there is a checkbox for Email notifications to enable/disable a notification to the Status Bar upon new email arrival. But this appears to be status bar icon notifications only, not a ringtone / sound.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am in Thailand, with a Defy which isnt locked to any carrier. The 2.2 upgrade is now supposed to be available here. I have never been able to access updates directly from the phone - About phone/System updates, says the service is unavailable, whether I connect via 3G or wifi. When I download and run the lastest version of MSU C01.16.10, it tells me "There is no software update currently available for your mobile device. Please check back for new releases." My APflex version is GAS_ASIA_USAJORDANRTINT15_P003. My firmware version is 2.1-update, Am I doing something wrong?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having the hardest time updating my defy from 2.1 to 2.2. Whenever I install the 2.2 update I see the android guy with a ! inside a triangle. I tried to upgdate my phone over 5 times and the same thing happens. Last night I decided to restore my phone to the factory settings and try to download and install the update again and no luck, same problem.

I am not able to switch on the bluetooth in my motorola defy.I have 2.2.2 froyo version of android.As I am not using much bluetooth I was unaware of its not working status.I dont have any idea since when bluetooth is not working in my phone.I probably guess it may have happened because i may have killed some application which resulted in deletion of bluetooth related core files.Also, In My Defy the bottom four buttons( Options, Home , Return , Search ), the return button shows no background light but the other 3 shows background light when it is under low light condition. Is it intentionally provided like this or this is a problem in my defy.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I check for update I'm told there is an update for the Kindle app but I can't get the update to work on my Defy. The install from the Android Market gets a "Not properly signed" message and the install from the Amazon Appstore just plain gets a "Install failed".
Am I stuck with the old version of the KIndle app because its a system app with Motoblur? Doesn't seem to make much sense to preload an app on a phone in such a way that the app can't be updated!
My phone wont reset to factory conditions. Some things are returne to stock, but many of my settings remain the same. Phone is sluggish and for example the icons under messaging take several seconds to appear. I want to reset the phone to the basic stock setup as when the phone was new.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom the first day I began using my DEFY (about 2 months ago) I have experienced a great deal of unresponsiveness with my touchscreen. Generally, when the phone goes into Locked/ Sleep mode I will attempt to unlock it and the screen will be unresponsive.Sometimes I'll be able to unlock it and then it will be unresponsive to touch.Most of the time, pressing the Sleep button and re-unlocking it will solve the problem, TEMPORARILY.
This is a frequent occurance and has gotten to the point where it significantly impacts my ability to use the phone effectively.Especially when I receive an incoming call that I am unable to answer because the screen does not respond.Motorola experts, would you recommend sending the phone in for warranty service?Are there any firmware upgrades I need to address this?
Last week i had my Defy running UK T-Mobile Froyo suddenly stop being able to use Facebook or Twitter, despite other applications (HotUkDeals, Browser, Tesco ) all being able to connect to the net - it happened at the same time.I have since cleared the cache on both, uninstalled, re-installed, and all i keep getting when trying to login to FB is: "An error occurred during sign in" and on Twitter: "An error occured when signing in. Please try again later".
Is there a setting buried somewhere that might be causing this? Is it something like an SSL Cert becoming expired? Really annoyed by it as it means no FB messaging during the day.
I have purchased a Motorola DEFY this week. I am trying to connect this handset with my Planktronics Voyager pro bluetooth headset.
Till now, no progress. The handset does not even recoginze the presence of the bluetooth headset
The plug part of my Motorola Defy stopped working so my only option at the moment is to charge via USB which isn't too great when I don't have my own computer at home at the moment so charging options are very limited.I contacted Amazon where I purchased the phone and they want me to send the whole lot back for replacement when it is just the plug part that doesn't work!i then contacted Motorola via their Chat and they were not much help either. It took them ages to respond to my query as they were busy chatting to someone else on the phone. When I eventually got a reply they said to contact CPW Accessory Repairs on 0870 087 0168. Contacted them and I was speaking to a robot and punching in different buttons on the keypad. Eventually it said to bring it in to one of the CPW stores and they may be able to help repair or replace it.What an absolute farce. It's absurd and impractical that Amazon have to replace the whole thing instead of just the small part that is faulty. It is just the plug part that doesn't work and I can't be sending the whole thing back with all my applications and viewranger maps to have to reinstall it all over again.

I swear on my 2.1 Spice XT300, the auto-retrieval was by email address (and also the smallest interval between fetches was 5 minutes, not 15 like on the Defy). I have never used 2.1 on the Defy; mine was original 2.2.1.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had my defy now for a few months, and I have been pretty happy with it (babyproof smartphone!)Unfortunately, its becoming more and more unreliable, and am having to reboot it regularly.This weekend is the worst. Here are some of the things it is doing:
all apps keep freezing and crashing (no fancy apps, mostly use it for twitter, facebook etc).phone keeps freezing and being unresponsible on the home screen keep getting an 'emergency calls only' notification, which then clears straight away when i go into notifications.mms photos - both sent and received take up to 5 days to be visible. until then they are just flagged as 'downloading'. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't take 5 days to download a 27kb file.After rebooting, I did have a gmail widget require a forced close immediately. I was never using that widget anyway, and couldn't see it, so I uninstalled it. Now on rebooting I have to force close Google Services Framework. I have decided that looks reasonably important and useful and have declined to uninstall that so far.
I have a my Defy & XT and as of 9:22 am the weather widget hasn't udated and I've turned the phone off and on etc and then I deleted my location and tried to readd it and it said something like.. location information cannot be found (not sure off hand).. I don't know what to do but it won't let me add any loactions but apps from the market work.
