Ever since I got my defy I was very impressed with the battery life. After the group update I found it shortened slightly compared to with eclair but still good This weekend its suddenly started discharging at a crazy rate! I've twice tried hard reseting the handset but it continues to discharge quickly!I run very few applications. The major 3 being whatapp. Facebook and twitter.
View 9 RepliesJust curious if anyone else has experienced this. When I have my phone 100% charged, I can watch a movie for about 2 hrs, and when I'm done, my batttery is like 50%. (While charging with the wall charger the whole time and screen brightness about 40%.)
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk, so just checking if there is any explanation other than a hardware problem here. I received my second refurb today after my first one arrived with obvious hardware problems and I had to send it back. Twice so far, while plugged in to the AC wall charger, my battery has started discharging. This is with the Motorola wall charger and Motorola extended battery. One time I was using the phone when this happened and the other I was not - it was just sitting there with nothing happening on it but with the screen on and plugged in.
This has never happened before, so if it is a hardware problem, it would be much more likely the "new" phone rather than the battery. I don't want to go through the replacement process a third time and lose even more time without a functioning phone if this could potentially be caused by something else. They said they will not send me a new (non-refurb) phone, no matter how many problems I have and no matter how many broken "certified like new" phones they send me. Doing a search on this, all I found were posts about car chargers not providing enough power with Navigator in use, which does not apply to my case. I really want this not to be a hardware problem with the phone since they will just send me yet another untested, broken refurb, so I'm just grasping for straws I guess despite the obvious.
I just had this happen yesterday. I was getting on a flight and powered off my phone. I had about 40% when I powered down. When I got off the flight, my phone wouldn't power up, so I found an outlet and found that I had no power. I know I powered it off, and so why would it be out of juice when it had battery left when I powered down?

The only activity seems to be a small clock appearing in the centre of the screen intermittently which she says she hasn't noticed before. This also comes on when writing mails prior to the typed in letter appearing on the screen It has the latest soft and firmware.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust yesterday when I plugged my phone into the ac adapter to charge after a while I noticed the phone was really warm, hot even, and it wasn't charging as quickly as it usually does. This morning I realized that my phone was at 70% when i had fully charged it last night and didn't really use it until that point. Around 10-15 mins later my battery life was at 60% and kept dropping around the same time to 50%. I had to keep plugging my phone in just to have a decent amount of battery life. The phone still feels hot when I have it plugged in and it doesn't seem to be charging as quickly as it should.

Both my wife and I have Defy's owned for 4 months and upgraded to Froyo 2.2 some weeks ago.both working normally.Then yesterday my phone, for no obvious reason, came up with the message "Invalid Battery.Your device battery is invalid and cannot be charged. Replace the battery with an origional motorola battery." Also the battery symbol at top right of display is black, not green, and has a? mark in it. I have checked my battery, which came with the phone, and it is official Motorola with hologram. So is my wifes.I tried swapping the batteries and while my battery works perfectly in her phone, her battery in my phone gives the same errors.I then tried a master reset....Twice! Both successful, wiping all my data, and requiring me to set up the phone again, but problem still remains.

So, I got this new Motorola Defy less than a week ago. Recently, the phone died and now that it's connected to the charger, it doesn't seem to be charging. After leaving it on the charger for 8 hours, it still read 0% and I couldn't turn it it. I've taken it out, had it plugged in without the battery, put it back in, just about everything you can do with it without taking anything apart.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have noticed the battery on my defy+ goes down to 90% from full charge within an hour. This is my 3rd charge and I charged it for 3 hour for the first time like it said in the user manual. After it goes to 90% the battery holds good charge. It lasted me 12 hours with me playing around on it all night. Also I had my phone on for 2 days and I checked the phone up time in the settings and it said 55 mins. So I don't know if it has been rebooting itself maybe because of updates or a problem.

Then I got 2 replacement batteries, followed by the original battery. All three of them have a battery life of 5 hours. I turn off the wi-fi and kill all the apps, but the battery life still stays the same. When I checked the battery usage, it says that the phone idle time used up about half of the battery life. I know that android phones have short battery lives, but 5 hours is ridiculous.

By then it was last charged 11-12 hours ago.I installed the OS Monitor from the market to check what is eating up my battery. Turns out that the "init" process starts eating up all free CPU resources after a while. The phones runs smoothly for about an hour or two after turning on. But as soon as the init process starts using the entire CPU, battery goes down very quickly.I did not install any new apps after the update besides the OS Monitor. So the apps have not changed. View 2 Replies View RelatedI grabbed my Motorola Defy used about 6 months ago with absolutely nothing wrong with it.I work at a garage, I'm constantly coated in grease.About a month ago the ear speaker stopped working, now calls can only be heard through headphones or speaker phone.
About 2 weeks ago, close to every time I put my Defy in my pocket, it shuts down. Unlock button becomes unresponsive, doesn't power back on until I pull the battery out and put it back in. It seems to do this whenever pressure is applied across the screen while locked.
After the Froyo update Defy is not giving sound notifications while plugging the charge cable or when the phone gets 100% charged

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've gone through 5 Lumia 1020's in the past 3-4 weeks. All having the same problems with battery life. After taking my phone off the charger, I turn off Bluetooth and WiFi. I don't have glance on but I do however have all my background tasks running. I have two emails set to sync as arrive, Hotmail and outlook emails. I took my phone off the charger at 6:30 AM this morning, and when I looked at it an hour later, 7:30AM, I had 90% battery left. I have 3-5 bars of LTE and 1-4 bars of 4G everywhere I go. I do a soft reset 3-4 times a week since this is a common occurrence. I just took my Gmail email off my phone, so I'm testing to see if that was the problem. I normally get 9-11 hours of battery life, but I need to get 14-16.
How to possibly improve my battery without limiting the phone to what it's suppose to be? What I mean is, WP is based around live tiles, if I stop all the tasks, then it's just a close version of iPhone with limited apps. I don't want that. I don't like iPhone or android.
Since yesterday (12/20/15) my 950 has been running very hot and the battery drain exceeds 25% per hour. It was fine after the .29 update a few days ago, this just stated happening. I've done all the normal things, turned off a number of background aps, location off, soft resets, no updates occurring that I can find, etc., phone is hot when not being used and very poor battery life.

My classes are from 8:30AM-2:15PM. I only have a 1 hour break in which I listened to Slacker radio while I used library computer.
When my last class of the day came around, I saw my battery meter, 8%! It then died 5 minutes later without no use whatsoever except that 1 hour of Slacker Radio and that's all!Nothing was running in the background or anything! View 11 Replies View RelatedI’ve got a BlackBerry Curve 8900 (ATT, running 4.2.0.108), and have had it since Oct. 2009. Battery life has always been OK - 24 to 48 hrs. between recharges.
Today though, after pulling it off the charger this morning around 8:00 a.m., I’ve noticed that I’m down to about 5% charge by 2:30 p.m. I have made no phone calls today, and have only sent/received a couple texts and rec’d two emails. I've never used a holster, have downloaded no apps, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both off. No keys appear to be sticking. Absolutely nothing, to my knowledge, of any significance has changed on the phone since October, yet all of a sudden --literally, overnight --I am experiencing this greatly diminished battery life. The only even remotely precipitating factor I can think of is that I did a battery pull yesterday, after deleting some old photos and emails.
I’ve searched the forum, and most of the suggestions are along the lines of “turn off bluetooth/wi-fi/update OS,” but as noted, I never used those anyhow, and the OS has always been good to me.
