Motorola Atrix 4G :: Possible To Charge With USB Cord Without Turning On?
Aug 13, 2011
I was on a plane with USB points for charging and I noticed that if the phone is off and a USB cord is connected, then the phone turns on. Is it possible to charge the phone with a USB cord without the phone turning on?
I caught the cord of my Xoom while moving it and the charging cord was yanked out. Now it doesn't charge at all. The cord itself looks fine so I assume there is a problem with the little pin or the jack in the tablet.
What is the little module with the connectors in it called? I keep asearching things like "charger" and "jack" but always get results for the cord part, but the part on the tablet itself.
I just purchased the Standard Dock and I must say, it is a very nice and works well charging my phone while watching movies and stuff. I was wondering, can use its cord to charge my phone? From what I understand, the dock is a rapid charger, but won't over charge the Atrix.
i have a iphone 3 n until yesterday it would charge with the usb cord. the brother took my charger n since then my phone wont charge wit a cable cord. it will charge in a ipod dock but not a usb connected to the computer.
I bought this phone off a friend. Its three months old and works great. But the other night I accidentally put the magnetic port on backwards and the phone completely died. I freaked out and tried every key combination possible. I eventually got a red led when I plugged in the microusb port. It turned on in about 10 minutes like normal.
Now, when ever I attach the magnetic cord (properly) I get an orange led blinking and the device doesn't charge at all. What does the blinking orange led mean? Does warranty cover the magnetic port?
Periodically, the phone will apparently be off for no reason - and will not respond in any way, not even to turn on with the power button. I have to pull the battery and replace it in order to power it up again. Most of the time, when I discover the phone off, the phone itself is very hot. I've noticed when pulling the battery, that the battery itself feels fine - warmer than usual, but not as hot as the phone itself. Also, most of the time, after I get the phone up and running again, it shows a very low charge on the battery (like 20% or so), even though it may have shown 80% hours earlier. This part doesn't happen every time - sometimes it comes back up still showing a good charge. But most of the time, it shows a low figure.
My WiFi settings are checked for WiFi to never sleep; however, when my screen is off and the phone is on Standby, after a short while the WiFi disconnects. When the screen is turned on, the WiFi again connects. I assumed that the Advanced WiFi setting of "Never Sleep" would prevent this allowing me to remain connected on Skype etc. while on Standby. Does this indicate a problem with the phone or am I missing something?I have done a factory reset but the problem still persists.
Everytime I plug my Atrix4 into my computer or plug into the wall the screen lights up, and the notification ringtone goes off is there away of stopping this without shutting off my ringtone or message ringtone. Have been in every menu I can think of...
I'm new at this so I apologize in advance if this has been asked. I'm not even sure where or how to search for the answer.I am a former Blackberry user and, as with my Atrix, my phone can be turned on but is non-accessible without a passcode, finger swipe, etc. However, with my Blackberry, as soon as the phone was turned on, I had my name and work telephone number typed on the wallpaper, asking to be contacted if my telephone was found. I haven't found a way to put the same info on my Atrix. Perhaps creating my own wallpaper?
The WiFi and celluar signal icons will occasionally turn grey for a minute, and then go back to blue.I thought that this meant there was a loss of connectivity, however when the icons turn grey I can still connect to the Internet and the signal bars always indicate a strong signal when this happens. I suppose it's possible that connectivity was actually lost for a moment, and it may take the icons a few seconds to update back to the blue color again, hard to say.
This is my second Atrix. It is failing to turn on its' Bluetooth radio. I go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Bluetooth (and Bluetooth Settings) and try to turn Bluetooth on. It indicates that it's turning on Bluetooth and then it fails, returning to the "Turn on bluetooth" message. I've rebooted, done a battery pull, tried to turn it on from Airplane mode...everything short of a factory reset (because I really really really don't want to set this thing up from scratch again!).
I don't know if I am missing something, or if I am correct in thinking that the Charge Only mode, while the Atrix 2 is connected via USB to a computer, has been removed as part of the upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich?
I've had my Atrix since launch and it's been doing great, however just starting last night when I plugged it into both the wall, and then to the computer, it won't charge. It "sees" that the cable is plugged in because it lights up the screen, but it seems like the charging / usb port is dead for some reason. The battery is now totally dead and I have it plugged in, and all I get is a green light in the upper right hand corner, no display on the screen. I took out the battery and reseated it, no joy there.
Yesterday I downloaded and installed the gingerbread update. Following instructions I changed the usb mode to whatever the setting was that I needed to complete the update via computer file transfer (mass storage mode?). After completing the update I sat and played with all the shiney new features until my battery died (oops) and now I can't charge my phone because I can't power it on long enough to change the usb mode back to "none" or whatever. Is there a way to override this or externally change this? Prior to the update the usb would default back to charging mode if the battery died, I am happy about the updates, but this issue is a HUGE problem. I hadn't installed the usb driver on my computer to charge via usb connection, and the phone needs to be turned on in order to initialize thisdriver, so I can't even charge that way. If there is no way to externally change this setting, what in the world am I supposed to do to get my phone to turn back on?
my phone battery reached 100% utilization and powered off. I tried charging via usb and nothing is happening. I tried on 3 different computers still the same.I already have all the motorola software installed on computer and I have even[URL]my phone is not recognized when connected to computer. I don't know how to install when it is not detected.I don't have power connecter now to test, but I tried my car charger and it came up with red moto logo immediatly.
If my Atrix 2 dies and I use to USB cable to connect it to my laptop, it will not charge or turn on. The notification light turns white and stays constant. If I plug it into the wall it charges so I know the phone is not broken. I have tried holding down the power button, power ad volume down, power and volume up, power and camera....If I plug it in while still alive and choose the USB function as "charge only" it will charge, but no other time. Does it always have to be "charge only"? I cannot charge and look at files at the same time?
For the last month (since I bought it) my phone won't hold a charge for longer for 8 hours. This was on 1.26 and 1.57 and now on 1.83
Basiclly I am running corparte sync to Exchange and nothing else right now. I was running a live wallpaper and weather (turned off when battery would die) and same result no matter what I run. Heavy phone use or no phone calls. At my house I have a microcell, but work is low signal. Also Corp HQ where I spend 1 week a month has full H+ connection. All seem to last about 8 hours at all three locations. AT&T gave me a new battery and I have wiped 2 times in the last 2 weeks.
Here is what the battery manager says running after 6 hours.
Now look at the pics, Display seems really high. I am on auto brightness, and have a screen lockout of 2 minutes. This screenshot was from 6 hours of use. No phone calls, vibrate and no signal when picture was taken. Display was used 28 minutes of 6 hours of use.
AT&T just tells me to either wipe device or turn of push on snyc. 8 hours is not right for a new phone with no calls and light use.
I usually plug into a computer whenever I am at work or a lot of time at home, but I have recently discovered that I cant charge off my wall adapater anymore. I have tested multiple wall chargers, as well as multiple cables, and while they all work on a computer USB port, and the chargers can charge all my other devices fine (including a HP Touchpad that has higher power reqs than the phone), the phone refuses to charge off the wall. I have gone into the Android recovery and did a factory reset as well as clearing the cache, but no go.
When I go to settings- about phone- system updates, the progress wheel just keeps turning forever. I had this problem a while ago and I was told my motoblur account was inactive. I'm assuming this has happened again somehow? How does this keep happening? I don't have any customization or rooting or anything like that. Obviously I don't want to have to perform a factory reset everytime I want to check for an update.
After the recent update, I'm noticing a few things fixed and a few things broken. On the things broken, one is the battery charge indicator in the upper right hand corner of the GUI next to the time.At 29% it shows half full. At 49% it shows at around 75%. If you go to the Settings, Battery & Data Manager, that will show properly at 50% for instance, while the icon shown in the GUI next to the clock is not showing half green but more like 75% greenI have a nifty widget called "Tiny Battery Widget" that gives a more accurate representation (which is consistent with the battery charge indicator found buried in the system's menu under "Battery & data manager" ) and also verifies the small icon at the top right next to the clock is overly optimistic.
As luck would have it the power cord on my TN765T has now failed - discovered just a couple hours before leaving on a 3 day trip. It has developed a bad connection in the male plug end to the cradle and I get intermittent power depending on how I bend the stress relief portion. All fixable, but I will have to destroy the integrity of the original plug - for all the good that did me. This cord has not been abused (or used that much) so I am surprised and disappointed it "broke".
Is there any way to force the screen to allow for one to watch full-screen streaming video with the kickstand engaged and the power cord plugged in? I cannot get any of my usual streams (tennistv.com, sprinttv, many, many more) to rotate so that the power cord is at the top of the phone.
I am trying to sync itunes with the Motoactv using the USB cord. As of right now I can see all of the prepopulated itunes playlists in MotoCast (ie 90s music, recently added) but none of the playlists I have created myself nor does it display the full population of music I currently have in itunes (306 in MotoCast versus 910 in itunes). When I go to sync it says the sync was successful but that 0 files were transferred. Is there a setting that needs to be changed or a different want to get this to sync. I am currently running Window XP, MotoCast Version 1.7.0151.0, and ITunes Version 10.5.3.3.
I brought a blackberry a couple of days ago and it has been fine. Then today it ran out of battery and so when I got home I put it on charge. It is not turning back on and has been charging for nearly 4 hours. I have tried the battery pull and still nothing. There is no lights and the screen is just blank. What should I do?
