What happened is that I kept my Moto X gen 1 phone for charging at 11 pm in the night and was supposed to remove it after an hour or so, since i anticipated that it will be fully charged by then. However, i fell asleep and then woke up at 6. As a result, my phone got OVERCHARGED for nearly 6 hours straight. And this has happened TWICE.
Though Motorola claims that the battery is "over-charge proof", i think there is a possibility that there must have been some little damage to it, since this occurred twice.
Around like noon today my phone started chewing through my battery. It is truly unbelievable. Goes down a percentage point every few minutes. I restarted, closed out of apps, made sure all the battery sucking stuff was off.
Recently I've been seeing that when I have my phone charging, whether it be on a portable charger or a wall charger and is just sitting there with nothing downloading, it randomly reboots. I feel the phone vibrate and when I look at my phone I see the initial boot motorola M. Not sure what can be causing this.
I recently got a MotoX (2nd Gen) and have noticed several times the lock screen says "Charging - 4 hours till fully charged" and the battery icon has the lightning bolt symbol showing charging... But nothing is plugged in or connected!!!
Last night i put my phone on the charger and when I unplugged it in the morning the battery symbol showed 100% but still showed the charging symbol and stated it was charging. When I tapped on the battery symbol is had the graph but stated "battery usage data isn't available". I shut down/re-started and it still shows "battery usage data isn't available". How can I get things back to normal.
How does the Moto X handle the battery while in standby / inactive mode?
I attached a picture showing my current phone, the iPhone 5, and as you can see, I don't use my phone very often - and when I do, it's mostly for gaming.
My current battery lasts for more than 2 days (although I just used it for 2 hours) and I'd like to know if the Moto X can handle that much. I have heard that the Moto X battery can't stand for a full day - even if you use it very little, is that true?
On my Moto X (2014) my stock battery info, under "cell standby", it is reporting time without signal up to 18%, even though I know that it isn't searching for a signal, or without a good signal. Don't know if it really affects the battery life or not, but it's definitely wrong.
I leave my WiFi constantly turned on on my phone. I use WiFi at home and work so it will automatically connect when I'm in those 2 places, but anywhere else it isn't connected. Is it still using battery even if its not connected? Does it search for a connection when its not connected, sort of like the radios searching for a cellular signal?
"Google Services" is constantly my biggest battery drain. It is consistently 2x more than the next biggest power hungry app "Google Search". These two apps together account for 40% OF MY BATTERY LIFE LOST. I did a factory reset with no impact. The battery screenshots I see here from others never seem to reflect what I am seeing - the screen is always the biggest drain, which I would expect.
My X sees light to moderate use with 2 SOT usually.
I've had my Moto X for a couple of weeks and have noticed that it seems to drain battery strangely quickly when in Airplane mode and with the screen turned off. I leave my phone in this state while at work.
This morning, I put my phone away for over 3.5 hours in this state. After this 3.5 hours with screen off and airplane mode on, the battery had drained from 100% to 92%. The only 2 entries in the battery use screen were Phone Idle (1%) and Google Services (1% with a couple minutes of GPS and CPU usage which probably accounts for the amount of time it took for me to walk from my car to the office). See attached screenshots for details.
It seems like 8% of battery use over 3.5 hours in airplane mode with almost 0 screen on time is kind of excessive, particularly as no app or service reports using much battery use at all. How to fix or diagnose this? I've used wakelock detecting apps in the past but they've been kind of neutered since Kit Kat and I don't want to root my X to get proper stats.
32GB model . How much space is actually on it? I currently own a Moto X 2nd Gen 16GB but I find the lack of memory on the 16GB to be a deal breaker for me.
Picked up my Moto X on launch day at Verizon, and every time I make a call, I notice the 4g signal at the top go down to 1x. Kind of new to smartphones, so just wondering what's going on. My wife upgraded to an HTC One M8 last month and her 4g remained stable during her calls. Pic is below ......
I had a bamboo back, and it started to peel so i got a new one today, set everything up, exactly the same as the old phone, and now i have a weird gps problem.Everytime the phone is unlocked, by the power button, or using moto display, the gps icon shows up right next to the 4glte for about 2-3 seconds, and then goes away. The original phone i had did not do this and i dont believe its normal.I only have about 3 apps installed (same as the original phone) and im pretty sure none have access to gps.
I've had my brand new Moto X for exactly 2 weeks, as of yesterday. I tried to swipe open the lock screen just now, the screen went blank, the sensors don't respond to to me trying to access it, and pressing he power button does nothing. It's been on the charger for much of the day today so I know the battery isn't drained.
So I bought a 32 gb Moto X(2nd gen) about 4 months ago.I've tried to download a few games like Injustice,Fifa 15,Asphalt 8 however I am unable to download them.I face no difficulties in downloading small apps and games but the 'error while downloading' shows up every time I try to download a large sized game. The downloading begins initially and this one time even went upto 80% but then it stops and the error flashes over and over again every time.
On my new Moto X (2014), when I'm listening to music via bluetooth (regardless of whether it's a headset or in the car), and I receive a call, the music keeps playing after I've answered the call, so I need to open the notifications tray and kill the music app (regardless of which it is). On my old Motorola phone, when I received a call while music was playing, it was pause the music. Is there any way I can make sure that answering phone calls pauses the music. It's kind of annoying to have my callers listening to whatever music I was listening to while I'm frantically trying to kill off the music app I had open.
Phone screen doesn't activate as it did when you first got the phone?
I showed coworkers this when I got the phone but now after the sensor firmware update and moto updates it seems to have stopped working as it was. The wave over the phone still works.
I just switched back to Android after 4 years with iPhones, so to say that I'm a bit "rusty" might be an understatement.
Is there a way to send group messages on the Moto X 2014? I tried sending an SMS to 2 people (that both have iPhones) and it sent as 2 independent messages. I want them to be in the same thread so that I don't have to "copy/paste" from one thread to another...I would prefer it to go out as an SMS rather than data, if that makes sense. Basically, I want the functionality of the iPhone group messaging to work on my Moto X.
Throughout the course on the day my moto x(2014) connects to 4 different wifi networks. All networks are secure and the passwords are stored on my device. When i leave one wifi network and move in range of another network my device isn't automatically connecting to the next network till i wake the phone up with the power bottom or unlock the device. Am i wrong in thinking it should connect automatically as soon as the phone is in range of the closest network? the only thing i have tried is running the phone in safe mode but it still didn't "auto-connect".
I have tried all I could think of, clearing cache out, checking for conflicting devices, tried uninstalling some apps I think my be the culprit, rebooting the device, the router, and the Modem etc..... The problem still occurs, I'm not sure if this started since the 5.1 update or prior, all I can say I only noticed it a few days ago, when I decided to do a Speedtest, I know I have done Speedtest before, and never noticed this issue.
Once I'm connected to WiFi and my Bluetooth is turned on, my WiFi speeds are slow and bounce from 2Mb's to 5 Mb's, and when I say bounces the speeds go up and down during the process. As soon as I turn Bluetooth off the speeds are back above the 30 Mb's.
I have tried many of the recommendations around, but have yet to find a solution, Is it a LP issue ?? any other device I have connected I have no issues, I even have a back up Huawei, on LP, and have no issues when BT is turned on.
Heck, even my wife's 1st Gen Moto X has no issues. Since I only realized this recently, today when I get to work I will try it when I get to work and see if it does the same on WiFi there when BT is turned on.
When my phone is connected to my car (2014 toyota RAV4) and i am listening to audio (i.e. pocketcast) and I get a call, the audio does stop for the phone ring but when I pick up, the audio begins to play again during the phone call and the pocketcast app disappears from the notification bar also so I cannot stop it manually. Please note that the podcasts I listen to are not streaming, they are pre-downloaded. Why this is happening? Is this a Lollipop bug?
I updated my Moto X this morning and I can't get the phone to go into recovery mode so I can clear the cache. Every time I select the recovery option following the standard procedure it just shuts down. It never did that on lollipop...
