Jan 15, 2016Will the 1520 ever get Windows Hello or some other form of Facial recognition to unlock out phones? We don't have Biometrics hence the reason I ask.

View 1 RepliesI upgraded my Nokia Lumia 1520 from windows 8.0 to windows 8.1 and I can not use the phone anymore because its permanently on flight mode and i can't connect to my mobile Network.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI received a Nokia 1520.3 that was swapped by Nokia service center yesterday. My old model was Nokia RM-938_Ita_Ita_905 which work fine expect white dots; the new model is Nokia RM-938_nam_canada_104.
The first thing I notice is that my new phone doesn't recognize the T-Mobile LTE, in the Setting, the maximum connection speed is only 3G which I used getting LTE. I also exchanged the SIM card in the T-Mobile store, still the same.
Another thing is, cannot update to Windows phone 8.1. I tried Hard reset, soft reset, use the Nokia Recovery Tool... still cannot get windows phone 8.1 update.
I just received a Windows phone Lumia 1520 from work today. So far it's been a pleasant but eye opening experience. As most Android users I started using the phone expecting an inferior frustrating designed Windows phone but I have to admit I'm liking it
. The Hardware is beautiful and the OS seems fast and responsive the only thing I have to complain about is the app store but I have been able to find most apps I need or an alternative.
My L1520 has 10.0.10586.63 OS build, but I would like to use Project Astoria on my phone. How to downgrade my OS build to the version I could use Project Astoria?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is strange. I'm running the latest Technical Preview of W10M on my Lumia 1520, and have decided I want to revert to WP8.1.
I believe the way to do this is to use the Windows Device Recovery Tool, currently at V3.1.5.
The WDRT installs just fine. When I run it and plug in my phone, it correctly identifies it as a Lumia 1520, and my phone correctly asks permission to let its USB port be used (which I OK, of course).
WDRT says "Please select device to continue" and I click on the picture of the Lumia 1520. At that point it goes to the "Reading device information" page and just sits there forever, showing the spinning circle and "Please wait".
When you unlock your phone by swiping up on the lock screen, if you try to swipe up on the Start screen immediately from the bottom of that screen, you will likely get no movement on the screen. If you swipe up from the top half of the screen you will likely get immediate movement of that screen. It seems as though when the phone performs screen transitions that the top half of the screen gets its touch enabled anywhere from a half a second to a second or two faster than the bottom half of the screen.
This became really apparent with the new animated lock screens that were just released. With one of those installed (aka the first choice in the list of animated lock screens), if you unlock your phone, try immediately swiping up from the bottom multiple times rapidly on the Start screen once it becomes visible. For me, it doesn't register a swipe for almost 2 seconds. But the top half of the screen registers a swipe almost instantly. It does have a little more of a delay on the top half than it does if you use just a normal lock screen.
I installed Windowsphone 10 on my lumia 1020,but I can't unlock my phone. keyboard will not be shown, and i can't write my password.

I use the Hello feature to login, however it still prompts to scan iris even if the phone is unlocked already and I'm just waking up the phone.I can just bypass it by swiping up the screen, is this normal can it not be disabled when just waking the phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince i upgraded my lumia 1520 to windows10, the wifi button is not working in action center. When i try to activate it from setting, the same problem and the message appears to say : Cant do this at the moment

Im using the 1520 and 1-2 times a day I have to restart my phone and "scan" my SD card because I get the message that I removed the card. It actually quite frustrating because it takes about 15 minutes to actually scan the SD card not to mention that I have to wait to reboot the phone.
I basically put all my movies, apps, and pictures on the card...using a 64GB Transcend PRO. I dont think the card is corrupt because I literally got it about 2 months ago.
I just updated my Lumia 1520 from WP 8.1 to Windows 10. My battery has been draining at a fast pace close to 10% for every 20 minutes. I have the latet windows build 10586 on my phone now. Is there any thing that could be done to solve tis issue. My battery back was just awesome under WP8.1.

View 23 Replies View RelatedI have my 1520 set with to require a PIN to unlock it. After updating to WP8.1 sometimes when I use the keypad it will register multiple taps even though I only touch the number once.
The only way I am able to get around this is to lock it again and then bring up the keypad again. This does not always work first time, it might take me locking it a few times.
Had my 1520 for a few weeks, running 8.1 dev preview.. Today for no reason, the lock and unlock sounds have stopped, all other sounds worked.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to download my music but WP8 uses the Windows Phone App client in Windows 8. Wll, when I tried connecting my phone, it says "Your phone is having troubles" error message. The instruction says to power off the phone. But no luck. Tried searching MS community but nothing there (but I won't rule out I didn't search well. Also, I posted the same question there and waiting for a response.)

I've been using the face recognition unlock feature on my table (ASUS Transformer Prime) since it got ICS early this year, and have been pretty happy with it, so I was excited to have the option on the Bionic. I've been disappointed, however, as it doesn't recognize me the majority of the time. I've tried the "improve facial recognition" function, but have difficulty getting it to "lock" on my face
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use the trusted face and trusted location methods for keeping the phone unlocked but it's been very inconsistent (title of post is wrong - shouldn't say WiFi, should say location). I can sort of understand the face one not working well (although I've tried the "improve face recognition" option many times), but I don't understand why the location method won't work when I'm at home. Does it take a few seconds for the phone to recognize my location?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just added a 32GB SD card to my Lumia 1520. I'd like to move some of the items that are on my phone (photos, music, files for work, etc.) onto the card.
Also, I've seen threads on here that mention issues with music that has been moved to the cards not being playable. I have enough issues with my phone giving error messages on the music app now without adding another complication.
I just went to watch a video on my 1520 and the sound won't work. I've tried restarting it multiple times but to no avail. When i push the volume rocker, only the head phone slider appears. I I've plugged head phones in and they don't work either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently screwed my phone by placing the phone in window for network coverage during rain. As the rain water spilled over it and few drops got it and brought me some weird issue.
1) Capacitive lights are not working . Only back arrow light didn't work.
2) Mic also not working.
I take it to Nokia care and got it fixed without warranty since it is two year old.And the technician told be that he changed many spare parts and he make use of 1320 spare and got it fixed. And now I feel my phone is getting very hot while charging and warm during normal usage in the top right corner of back side. I don't see heating issue on my other Lumia 1320 and 640 xl
Here are the points....
Only charges when plugged in, slow charging notification pops up.
No new hardware "ding" sound.
No new devices in device manager.
No devices with exclamation mark in device manager.
No unknown or unrecognized devices in device manager.
No devices listed in usb-view
Background : I was on Windows 10 build 10581. Upgraded to 10586. All fine.
Phone showed up and everything. However I wanted to go back to 8.1, so I started up the Windows Device Recovery Tool. It asked for a mandatory update. Updated. It recognized my phone (which was on). Started downloading server side software. I ran out of battery (the laptop), and it shut down. After starting up again, the phone is unrecognizable.
I unintsalled Windows Device Recovery Tool and tried to install again. Error. Several times. Finally after cleaning up everything related to it (RevoUninstaller), I managed to install it again. However, my phone still never is recognized. Uninstalled all Nokia/Microsoft drivers (no luck).
I bought a Lumia 1520.3 from B&H and I cut my sim card down from a micro sim to a nano sim. I know it still works because I put it back in my 920. It says on my 1520.3 says no service in the live tile.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently picked up a 1520 and am now wondering which camera App to use. I haven't taken many pictures in the past but that is likely to change since I will be travelling a lot soon (which admittedly was the main reason to pick up a new device).
