Lumia 1020 :: Battery Go From 92% To 46% In 1 Hr 30 Mins With Light Usage
Nov 17, 2013
I purchased my 1020 yesterday ... My battery would go from 92% to 46% in 1 hr 30 mins with light usage, I have glance off, background tasks off, brightness is low, bluetooth off, nfc off. Should i return my phone?
Recently swapped from Android to the Lumia 920 so i know little or nothing about the OS.Issue: Phone battery dies over night, in the morning when i plug it into charge for 15-20 mins the phone does not turn on/ shows no battery indicator/ no signs of life.So i have to resort to doing a softreset everymorning in order for the phone to turn on. Originally i thought this was a faulty handset. However it might simply be a battery saver gimmick wherby the phone has to be charged for a longer period of time before it can turn on or show any sign of life, after being fully drained
I have a Curve 8520 with Virgin Mobile. When I look at my Virgin account usage there is a (Call Type=) Blackberry Usage every 15 mins with a zero cost. What is the call being (automatically) made? Can/should I disable it? And how?
As only 60 entries are reported in my account I can only go back 2 days to review genuine calls that I have made because virtually all of the 60 entries are 'blackberry usage'.I must admit I am not familiar with the phone. I did look at Applications (with Options) in case these were the reason but there are none listed.
So I recently just replaced my Lumia 1020 with another 1020 because it wasn't able to make or receive phone calls. When it did, it connected to 2G and wouldn't switch back to LTE. I just got my new 1020 yesterday but now the keys on the screen won't like up unless I cover the sensor new the ear piece. I don't want to have to do that every time I use my phone and I'd rather not do a hard reset since my other phone is still resetting as I type this (going on 17 hours).
I bought a Lumia 1020 because of the greatest pictures in low light. But I saw a video that made me really love it. The video was about the 920... And I thought: if the 920 can do, the 1020 also, and maybe better.Mine 1020 do nothing even close to this video at extreme low light.
I've been "practicing" a bit taking pics in random enviorement and I noticed every pic I take in low light is blurry. I cant set focus manually cause the screen is almost black, the pics come out nice except theyre blurry. I dont have alzheimers so my hand dont shake and I tried many settings. How to make them okayish ?
Is there a guide to using the various camera apps on the Lumina 1020? Just got a 1020 to replace a broken 920. At first it had the Pro Camera app. Then I saw an email saying that the Smart Cam was replacing the Pro Cam app. However, the Smart Cam does not seem to work well in low light.
Whenever I try to take a picture in low light example of a candle or a bulb I see a dot in my field of view which moves as i move my phone. It becomes worse when I try to capture multiple lights say for example an array of LEDs. It is very irritating to find something like this on snaps taken by such a good camera phone. What can be done about it? As you can see in images attached just above the switch board on wall in 1st and 3rd image and on edge of cupboard in a close up shot in 2nd image.
After resetting my phone and switching to Italy ROM and updating to Lumia Cyan my battery usage in Battery Saver is up to 100%. And I have to recharge my phone every day. Regardless to say that I haven't been talking any more than before so this does not make any sense.
I just replaced my screen on my Nokia Lumia 1020. And now the screen is just black, but when i put into a charger there's a green light at the bottom of the screen.
My friend is having a problem with his Lumia 1020 when taking low light outdoor pictures with flash on.
He says that everything is fine during the day and when he is taking indoor low light pictures with the flash, but as soon as he take outdoor picture he is getting some kind of red blur in the top center of the photo, he sent me two examples:
His phone is on 8.1 and he is not sure is it software or hardware related.
My alarm clock sometimes decides to snooze for an hour and 10 mins rather than 10 mins. I nearly missed work on Friday, what is going on!? I waited a long time for the X10 mini to come out and admit that I am a little dissappointed. I've had a SE W580i until recently and I am finding that there are a lot of basic things that my old phone could handle but my new one seems to struggle with.
I have used my phone alarm as my only alarm clock for at least the last 5 years. I really struggle to get up in the morning and if I turn the alarm off, I'll fall straight back to sleep again, therefore I rely heavily on the phone's snooze function to wake me up eventually after going off a few times. I was initially dissappointed that you cannot personalise the snooze duration on the x10 mini, the 10 mins is usually ok for me but in certain situations I prefer to shorten it. Please consider including this in the next software update, Sony Ericsson! But the pressing problem is the (massively) extended snooze. It happens every few days and seems to be quite random. The first few times I hit the snooze button, it works as normal. A picture of an alarm clock comes up showing the time, and a white segment of clock face is highlighted indicating how long the snooze is for (10 mins) and when it will next go off. Then, I stir due to some disturbance outside, notice that the sun is definitely brighter than it was when I was last awake, grab my phone in a panic and realise that I have been sleeping for 20 mins since the alarm last went off, and that I have less than 7 mins to get up, dressed, packed and on the bus or I will be late for work. Meanwhile my phone is cheerfully still displaying the clock face with the white segment showing that I have 40 mins left to snooze and all is well. I didn't even know it was possible for this phone to snooze for anything other than 10 mins. Unfortunately I am asleep whenever this has happened and I'm not sure how I've done it. I have tried setting the alarm when awake and then pressing various buttons, tapping the screen in various places, even pressing and holding the snooze button or swiping it. Most of these actions do nothing and the only way to stop the alarm is to slide to turn off or press the snooze button. My theory as to what is happening is that the phone snoozes for the normal 10 mins, but then when it reaches the time to go off again, it fails to go off and then the snooze time is displayed as 50 minutes (until it reaches that time again for the next hour). I think the white segment does initially show the 10 mins, I've started checking when I hit the snooze button after it happened a few times, but I might be doing something different in my sleep somehow
This seems a bit confusing so I'll give an example. If I snooze the alarm at 6 am, the white snooze segment displayed is from 6am to 6:10am. However, when I wake up again, for example at 6:20am, the alarm hasn't gone off after the snooze time has elapsed and the white segment is still showing snooze until ten past (so, the white segment is now massive and is from 6:20 to 7:10). Unfortunately I've not been able to just leave it to go off later as I've had to go to work and turn it off, so I have no idea whether it would then go off at 7:10 or whether it would cancel when the hour changed. This problem is really bugging me and I can't rely on the phone alarm any more. I don't want to spend a lot of money getting an alarm clock which I can personlise the alarm sound on and I often stay round at friends so having a phone alarm that works is very important to me. I am currently having to take my old phone along with my new one just for the alarm but it's annoying and I can't keep this up as a permanent solution.
I have downloaded a few free alarm clock apps from market but they are either ugly, even less functional than the Sony Ericsson one, unreliable or covered with irritating adverts ,so I am not considering that as a solution. To be honest having an alarm clock should really be a standard function for a phone this modern and expensive so I shouldn't have to download software to "get by" with my new phone. Overall I like the x10 mini and would like it to work as it should, then I would be very happy with it.One other thing, my calendar is working fine except that I like to set reminders for tasks, usually for 1 hour before the event. This worked fine until recenty, now for some reason (although I am still setting the reminder for 1 hour) it decides to remind me one hour before, then 15 mins, and then several times during the day until the event is finished. Mostly I use it to record work shifts so it's really annoying getting a notification every 10 minutes for 8 hours telling me to go to work, when I'm already there! If I cancel the notification alert at the top of the phone (by selecting the alert which brings the task up on the screen, then hitting ok) sometimes it reminds me again instantly (once, it did it 4 times in succession, ping-ping-ping-ping, which was a little noisy and embarassing). I don't know what's going on but if I can't stop it, I might give up on the whole smartphone calendar thing and just go back to using a paper diary. It's a shame though, I'm starting to wonder why I bothered getting an android phone at all if I can't even use basic functions on it.
Final comments - is it likely that customisable themes for your phone (like the ones in old sony ericsson phones) will become available for this phone at some point? Also does anyone know how GPS works? I've tried to use it a few times but it seems to think that I am usually located in the middle of the Firth of Tay which unless I have unknowingly developed the ability to walk on water, is definitely NOT where I am standing. Even when it manages to put me on dry land it's up to a kilometer out and has made the geotagging camera function (which I really liked the idea of) completely useless, as half of my my photos were tagged in Broughty Ferry where I've never even been and is not even in the same county. Finally I got a phone call recently and my phone died of battery before I got to it. When I turned it back on there was no record of the call or anything in missed calls and so I couldn't call them back (as I had no idea who it was!) Is this normal or is there something wrong with it?
I've gone through 5 Lumia 1020's in the past 3-4 weeks. All having the same problems with battery life. After taking my phone off the charger, I turn off Bluetooth and WiFi. I don't have glance on but I do however have all my background tasks running. I have two emails set to sync as arrive, Hotmail and outlook emails. I took my phone off the charger at 6:30 AM this morning, and when I looked at it an hour later, 7:30AM, I had 90% battery left. I have 3-5 bars of LTE and 1-4 bars of 4G everywhere I go. I do a soft reset 3-4 times a week since this is a common occurrence. I just took my Gmail email off my phone, so I'm testing to see if that was the problem. I normally get 9-11 hours of battery life, but I need to get 14-16.
How to possibly improve my battery without limiting the phone to what it's suppose to be? What I mean is, WP is based around live tiles, if I stop all the tasks, then it's just a close version of iPhone with limited apps. I don't want that. I don't like iPhone or android.
I have a Lumia 1020 on att and I felt the battery was draining faster than my Lumia 520. I have been using 1020 for maybe 3 weeks now. I updated it to WP 8.1 preview and reset it and and restored the backup of the 520. I do feel the battery is not upto par to even the Lumia 520. I have disabled most of the background tasks hoping it will last long. It drains 15-20% battery when I'm using it to read WP central or other apps and not even playing games. In the battery sense settings I saw the phone app on top using all the battery today and I have not even used to make a call. The phone app might be drawing battery even right now when I'm using the WP central app to post this. There is no background use but just fore ground use and the bar is like full.
When using the GPS the phone Nokia 1020 battery seems to be draining at the same speed whether I use a 12v charger or use the phone unplugged? So no matter what I do the battery is drained when using GPS.
Ever since the Lumia Black update, I have noticed significant amount of battery drain while not doing anything. This morning I woke up after 8 hours of sleep and removed my 1020 from charging plate, the phone was warm. That means it was charging the whole 8 hours.
I removed the phone and restarted it, turned off glance screen (location off) and did not use it until 3PM (3 hours after being removed from charging plate) and the battery gauge is already below 50%.
Experiencing battery drain with the 1020? I downloaded a battery app and with light phone use it is telling me that my phone is discharging at 10% an hour! Is this normal for the 1020?
I'm using DP and I have the latest update which was days ago, I'm also on cyan. Before the update, the battery performed well (or at least as expected). Now, it drains too quickly when play a bit of minion rush or watch some youtube videos. The other day out just dropped to 5 percent in a couple of minutes. I did a hard reset but still, the battery ducks now. I'm thinking going back to cyan but I love the folders features, it saves me lots of space and get me organised. I don't have too many apps running in the background, just few essentials...
am I right in thinking the 1020 needs 2amp power supply to use the sat nav, just bought a power supply for my bike which Amazon seller says is 2 amp, tried it on the way home this evening and battery went from 70% to 50% after twenty minutes which I guess means it's not up to the job,are all lumias high drainage when using the sat nav
I have been experiencing flickering screen on my 1020 when the battery goes into the battery saving mode at 20% or less. I attached a couple of videos showing the huge contrast jumps on the screen.
I just wanted to know, whats your battery drain on your lumia 1020 over night? My scenario is to charge it to 100% in the evening and then let it there without using ist for ~9-10hrs until the next day. Certainly with wifi/Bluetooth/mobile data off, glance off and all apps closed.
Motorla defy uses the new update from Moto Froyo 2.2 update 2 Moderate usage My Battery comes only for 44Hours and 36 Mins that not even 2 days completely usage as follows
My lumia 1020 battery's draining so heavily ( 94% - 8 hrs remaining ) i tried doing the soft reset, disabled all the background apps, turned off the settings, at last even did a hard reset and installed all the apps again and after two days it still on to the same issue..
Here's what happened, I charged my phone before sleeping and it went to 98% then I unplugged it that was like at 12am. I went to sleep then as this time of writing I woke up and tried to unlock my phone but to my surprise it wouldn't turn on! I thought something happened until I plugged my charger and everything went fine. I don't have apps that could possibly drain my phone because I just hard reset it 2 days ago. I can't send it to Nokia Care because my unit is out of warranty.
Using a Nokia 1020 with charger shell and noticing odd charging/battery indicator behavior? I placed my 1020 with charger shell on my charging stand one night before bed and woke up the next morning with the exact same battery reading (maybe a little less even). So I re-positioned it on the charger stand and left it for a few more hours, same results. I then decided to plug the phone in to charge, came back a couple of hours later and the battery indicator still hadn't moved. I thought that this behavior was really strange so I rebooted the phone and lo-n-behold: a fully charged phone. For some reason the battery indicator was not updating properly.
So yesterday I spent a couple hours taking some photographs and came home to do some design work and I left the 1020 charged in. Yet as the day went on, the phone never charged, it continued to go down, even plugged in. I tried plugging in the camera extension but even with that it eventually discharged to 4% then stuck there, plugged in. When I'd unplug, I would get the critical battery warning. I tried rebooting twice, and finally on the 2nd reboot, the battery level went to 100%.
I have been experiencing some pretty bad battery life with my 1020. It was getting to the point that with moderate use it was in battery saver mode within 8 hours. I shut off many background tasks, turned off 2 of my 4 email addresses and did some testing. In standby mode the phone dropped from 69% to 55% in about a half hour after a restart. Exasperated I turned off Double Tap to Wake after noticing the 'drains battery' warning. I then charged the phone and went to sleep. Today, with similar usage as normal (about an hour of streaming music, 2 push email accounts, web browsing, texting, etc.) I made it 8 hours and only dropped 39%.
